I'm training for the Dallas Carry the Load 20 hour, 15 minute walk. I'm putting in quite a few 4-5 hour hard walks 3-4 times a week. As the weather warms, I need a shoe that wicks away the sweat (I'm heavy foot sweater.), stands up to the 30K plus steps and supports my 265 lbs frame.

To Persona: 5'11", 205 lbs, 25-30 miles per week, under pronator, medium-high arch.
Ok, I love asics, but you may need to go up a whole size, not just a half. Also, I find that they run on the narrow side for all widths. You really need to find a European or Asian measuring device or chart and then add a half size. All the American ones measure smaller, even if they give conversions to other measuring styles. I've tried the regular, 2E, and 4E, and I've found that for both length and width, Asics tends to be smaller than you might think it should be, I wear 10E in dress shoes and they fit great. Waaay back, I got what the doctor called morton's neuroma wearing Asics normal width shoes, so now I go for wide shoes. I measure my foot as precisely as I can and they're R. 272 mm, L. 270 mm; width 106.36 mm (4 3/16 in) ish in both. So, if I am to believe the measuring chart from Asics, I should be in a 9 1/2 or 10 shoe. A store measuring device gives the same. I found one interactive calculator online that gives me just over 10. So, bottom line, great shoes, but find a Euro conversion chart and add a half size or add a whole size to US chart size, and yes the widths run small too.

Best Uses Great Sneakers for Running, training or everyday wear. Some of the most comfortable sneakers ever had on my feet. Great heel and arch support. I even have wide feet and its a perfect fit. would highly recommend for wide feet users.

I use this as an alternate in my rotation with the Vomero and Clifton. I like it on recovery runs because it helps keep me slower. I like it better than the 15 - I hope it lasts as long and I can get 500 miles out of these too!
Pros
Cons Best Uses My body is 55 yrs old and a bit overweight, but my running mind keeps trying to push me back to the shape I was in 20 yrs ago. Hence, I've suffered a bunch of injuries and been to physical therapy 6 times over the past 5 years for ankle and hip flexor problems. Now I'm finally starting to really RUN again for the first time in years and these ASICS have helped me cross over to that "promised land". So if you are on the big side and a bit older than your head tells you these shoes might just do the same trick for you.
Great cushioning
I've been a Nimbus fan for years. These shoes are great, but could they make them any less attractive in terms of appearence?? I have two pairs of the Nimbus 15's and now have two pairs of the Nimbus 17's. I had previous versions of the Cumulus and Nimbus and I try different shoes every year or two but nothing is as comfortable as the Nimbus (including more expensive shoes). I am a fairly large runner (6' 2", 240 lbs) and the cushioning on these makes a huge difference for me. The Nimbus 17 is the best shoe I have ever had (which is why I bought a second pair) and the break in period was quick but helped. I will probably try this next to the Quantum 360 when I am due for another pair of shoes, but I won't be surprised if I end up with another pair of the Nimbus. I had the 15's and went straight to these. Have to say that these have hit the sweet spot. Most comfortable running sneakers I could find, period. If you've got a wide foot and a medium to high arch - get these, you will not regret it.

Best shoe I've ever owned. Great cushioning and comfort. I am using mostly on a treadmill, as I am a retired runner;but I may be able to resume running on my creaky knees because of these shoes. Somewhat pricey but worth it. I wish some of the colors were available in my size (men's 9).
Can't imagine a better combination of fit, cushioning, weight. I may have to buy a dozen (just in case). Pros

this shoe is the best shoe that i have ever ran in! it is a great combination of bounce back and cushion. i love the fit and the feel of the shoe on every run i do with all the miles i put on them!
Have run in the Nimbus for a long time. Loved the 15s but the 16 caused all sorts of problems for me - primarily achilles and leg pain. I retired them and baught a pair of 17's. All the problems were gone. Great cusion, fit and support. Just baught my second pair. Hope the next generation is like the 17s and not the 16s. Pros

A long awaited shoe for me the Gel Nimbus 17 picks up where the Gel Kayano left off years ago. My first pair of running shoes more than a decade ago were the Asics Gel Kayano. They resolved my nagging shin splints and never had I worn a shoe that felt as right as those did. I've been chasing that feel ever since and I think the Nimbus 17 is finally it and more. The Nimbus are more stable than the Kayano I had years ago and although it was not a factor in my decision, I dig the fabric on the Nimbus. Coming from last years Gel Kayano 20s, the Nimbus is a softer ride...but not too soft. I'm 5' 6 1/2" about 157 lbs. and the Kayano 20s were too firm. I only run about 15 miles a week and it didn't take long to develop left ankle and right knee pain. I was about to completely tradeoff running for biking and I decided to try changing my shoes and voila! After just three runs, my pain is going away. I highly recommend the Gel Nimbus 17.

Have been wearing ASIC's for 8 years, 17's are the best IMO!
Pros Cons
Best Uses Have used the Asics Gt series for a while. Finally lost some weight to 180 pounds, decided I really didn't need all the stability of the Gt series. Tried the Nimbus and immediately shaved off 30 seconds per mile, still improving after the honey moon is over.
The Gel Nimbus series are the best shoes I've ever used. I run full marathons usually a couple/year and they out preform themselves each and every time. I also take them when I go on vacation and they preform for a good walking shoe also. Get 1 size bigger and you will be very pleased!

Great update relative to Nimbus 14 - 16. Heel drop feels like Nimbus 16 (it's good), but cushioning is much more all around. During sprints on treadmill forefoot no longer is sore/hurt as it was in prevous model (Nimbus 14 and 16). Cushioning is top notch!

I don't normally write reviews unless I am extremely disappointed or a product exceeds my expectations. The gel nimbus17 exceeded my expectations in cushioning, support and comfort.
Pros
Cons
Best Uses Definitely the lightest, glove like cushioned
Almost perfect in my opinion. Cushion is fine, less weight. The upper part is too tight for me, at least tighter than the previous models. And this last model doesn´t have reflective parts in the front.
Love this version (17)!!! Ran a 10 miler right out of the box with no problems. Perfect fit with awesome cushion. Toe box feels a bit more snug than previous models, but no so much that it was a problem. Hopefully, Asics doesn't mess too much with the good thing they have here.
