This is by far the most heavy duty running shoe I've ever owned. It's stiff and heavy, and not a good choice unless you're big enough to derive the benefits from it. I don't race in the MC Plus as it's way too much shoe for a speedy race. I use it for banging out the slow training miles.

I'm 60 year old large built runner (I was doomed by my genetics). I have running the ASIC MC's for years and have going thru many par. This is a great running shoe for the money and I will only run in this model until they stop making them. I order these by at least three par at a time. I have run close to 40 marathons.

The only shoe I will buy until they stop making it. Great shoe for fat guys that like to run 15+ miles a week. Every shoe has its issues, but this one keeps me from getting posterior shin splints, stress fractures of the tibia, and knee pain. The shoe carries my 210 pounds with ease. 4 ounces heavier per shoe compared to Brooks?

After seeing some of the reviews, I had to write one. I have owned 5 pairs of these and I find them to be excellent. I also have a low arch and no other shoe that I have tried has the support that this shoe provides. Yes, the heel cup could be better. But the other atributes of the shoe outweigh this minor problem. As said before in other reviews, please keep these shoes as a stock item.

5'9" 190lbs OverPro 10 miles per week No flexibility, too firm, little cushion. I was very suprised to not get the normal great fitting/feeling ASICS shoe. These were sent back...

I bought these shoes because I have a low arch and weigh 195 pounds. I ran in these shoes twice and they felt like bricks tied to my feet. My calves were aching within the first half mile. They feel extremely stiff and awkward. I weighed these shoes with a similar pair of Brooks and found them to be four ounces heavier per shoe. Significant difference if you are doing anything over a few miles per week.

I also have been wearing these shoes for several years and they are the only shoes I wear. Many half marathons and no injuries. Make sure you change every 300 miles. Keep making these really good performing shoes.

Please don't stop making these shoes. I haven't had problems other mention. I've been wearing these shoes for 10-15 years. They're the reason I was able to get back into jogging. Everything else I try, even ones that say they're motion control, whether Asics or other brands, don't work. I'm guessing it's not only the support in the shoe but also the straight last, which seems to have gone out of fashion. Of course I wish this shoe was lighter, but when I tried the Foundation, looking for a lighter shoe, my knees started hurting. As I said at the start, please continue making this shoe. Now if we could only get Asics to make a walking shoe with the support of the MC Plus.

These ran great out of the box, but i too have worn through the heel cups, which results in a wicked pinching blister. Granted, i've gone off-road a couple times, but at 160lbs, this shouldn't have happened to an MC+ shoe with <300mi. on it.

I've been wearing Asics for 20 years and this is a very poor quality shoe. The last three pairs I've bought have had problems with the heel cup wearing out.

I had an awful break-in period with these. The padding in the heel blistered me for weeks.

I've been wearing these shoes since they came out, also buying 3-4 pair every year. In the last few years I also noticed the problem with the heel cup. I don't know if this is me or the shoe but I'm going to have to give this shoe up. It's been a great shoe but doesn't work for me any more.

These shoes are awesome!!!!!!! I'm 270 lbs and run 15 to 20 mpw and these shoes hold up better than any kind I've ever worn. Please do not get rid of them.

Maybe I got a bad batch, but I've been running in these shoes for many years and the last two pairs had problems with the heel cups. I typically run over 20 miles a week (6'1 - 220) and this was the first time these shoes gave me blisters due to the heel cups which seemed misaligned; wore a hole right through the lining in the first week! Before that I LOVED these shoes. Sorry to see the quality slip. I bought the ASICS Foundation and it was a good though pricey comprimise.

This shoe is heavy, but it is the only shoe that I've been happy with in my more than 10-years of wearing it. My ony fear is that someday I won't be able to get it anymore!

I am a heavy walker/ runner (6-0--215) and I break down shoes very quickly--these are the best --most durable shoes I have owned first pair lasted 11 months--very comfortable and supportive

A podiatrist assited me several years ago with this shoe and no other shoe has even come close. If you need a motion Control shoe, this is it. I have been running in these for many years now! This is the best..

Sun, November 19,2006:
I initially thought this shoe wasn't going to work for me because it seems to place the heel lower and my foot was getting a bit creaky in the PF area. Over time, the foot quit protesting and I found that anytime I was having trouble I would go back to this pair. Soon I had put almost double my normal 'disposal' mileage on the shoe. It doesn't have as smooth a ride as the Mizuno Renegade, but that is the only thing about this shoe that isn't perfect in my experience.

6'2" 210 2/3 rigid orthotics. I bought a bunch of shoes and tried the New Balance 1010 for a 5 miler. After 1 I headed back because I could feel the shin splints coming on. I switched to these and ran three miles to finish my 5. I like them, but they seem to lack enough cushioning in the ball of my feet. I've bought an insole to take care of that problem. Interestingly, these actually may run a little big. I normally run in 13s. Brooks, New Balance, Mizuno, Reebok, and Saucony all fit right for some pair of shoe at 13. I'm seriously thinking of dropping to 12. I love a big toe box and this is huge and they're really inexpensive. My big complaint is the flimsy insole. 3 miles put an imprint into the insole from my toes and balls of my feet. For reference and hopefully help, I've liked running in Brooks Beast '97, New Balance 1121, a pair of Mizunos but I only had one pair and I can't remember the name, and my latest preferred shoe Saucony Grid 3D.

I have been buying Gel Kayano (in the clearance store) but they ran out of my size. I bought these instead (in the clearance store). I go through a pair of shoes in about 10 weeks, so price is important. The MC plus is not nearly the shoe as the Kayano, but adequate if I don't push the mileage. I am an older 40 mile/week runner, with current long runs of about 13 miles. I will definately go back to the Kayano for my next round of marathon training.

Wed, July 06,2005:
I had been wearing these shoes for about three years, usually ordering two at a time and tossing them after around four months (I am an overweight walker for exercise that does 3.5 miles per day, 7x per week). The shoe's best feature for me is the wide toe box. I am really between a 4E and 6E width wise, and when ordering one size larger than normal, they can usually accomodate those of us with a very wide toe box. Those with a narrow or standard foot may find these too loose. Unfortunately, the heavier among us will find that the Gel MC+ is not the strongest shoe out there, and they usually lose a lot of support and comfort for me after three months. The tread may be slightly worn, but the cushioning and motion control features will be long gone before the tread is. An alternative choice is the New Balance 1122's, which will stand up for the heavier walker/runner better, but are stiffer and much more pricey. These are a fine choice for comfort when new - just listen to your fee

I have tried all the other motion control shoes. I wear orthotics and run about 15 miles a week. This is the best shoe I have ever worn. Shin Splints are GONE!

I have now had about 20 pairs of these as I buy two pairs at a time and alternate, running about 16 miles a week. I am 6' 210#. The shoes are the best when new, but I am getting only 140 miles per pair before I start to feel the pounding BIG TIME in my feet and lower legs. I am going to try Brooks Beast. Anyone have the same experience?

I absolutely love this running shoe. I have tried several other Asic shoes and several other brands and keep coming back to the stability and motion control of this outstanding running shoe. Asic's should know when they have a winner, and this is a winner!

I fell in love with the original MC Plus several years ago before leaving for Army Basic Training. Since then I've tried a few other brands' MC shoes, and have been disappointed each time. I keep coming back to the roomy toebox and perfect support and control of these shoes. I wish Asics would quit messing with perfection, and just leave them as they are. :)

I have been doing high-speed training in these shoes for over 2 years now and they are the greatest motion control shoes made. They are comfortable and still work for overpronators.
