Runner for 20+ years and have tried many different brands/styles.
I need the extra cushioning and support and will feel it in the knees after runs if the shoe does not provide.
The Kayano 10 and 11 have been outstanding in all respects. A shoe that you can run in right out of the box and are durable through 500 miles.
I tried the 12's but found the style and weight changes in subsequent models did not work for me. The only con I have heard voiced is the weight of the shoe, but I prefer to run in a heavier shoe for training and switch to a lighter shoe for speed workouts and races. I have bought 2 pairs of the 10's and 4 pairs of the 11's over the past 4 years and have been satisfied.

Have been a loyal Asics fan for 10 years. Usually buy two pairs and alternate after each run. Best shoes to alleviate IT band issues and always give great ankle/sole support. Just about to buy two more pairs.

My husband won't wear anything else. I don't know what shoe he'll choose when these are gone. We bought 3 pair the last time we shopped for him. He runs everyday and has knee and ankle problems (6'3"-225lb). When he runs in these shoes those problems are less aggravating than in other shoes. Thanks RRS for keeping these in stock as long as you can!

Big fan of these, had not stepped up to the kayano until now (ran in the 2100s, saucony hurricane, brooks adrenaline gts). 6'2" 210 (previous IT band issues) so I am putting some wear on the shoes, but no problems.

Best Asics ever manufactured! I have been an Asics shoe person for over 20 years. I have generally run in the series 2000 - 3000 class over the past few years. I was having some issues with my knees lately and decided to upgrade to a more cushion oriented shoe. The Kayano 11 was recommended to me by a friend and I cannot believe the difference. My knee issues have ceased to exist and I have never been happier on a pair of shoes. I am ordering another pair right now, even though I just bought a pair. I wish these were not endangered.

I've had better Kayanos. Recieved the Kayano XIs today, logged 3.5 miles tonight. Good fit but not a long distance shoe for pavement. There's not enough padding in the forefoot. The landing is hard. My Nike Nucleus are better. The Kayanos will have to server as my everyday walking around shoes.
I weigh 163 lbs. and the Nikes were really designed for over 180 lbs....hence the need to log some miles before they started to feel good.

I guess I've worn most brands under the sun in the 37 years I've been running. The Kayano XI has been a great shoe. It's comfortable, fits well, and lasts a long time. It's a good looking shoe. The color, style, and look of a shoe is important to me as I wear these shoes everywhere including the gym. I'm pretty fussy about the fit and feel of the shoe while running. I can't seem to find a shoe that I'm happy with unless I'm in the higher price range of shoe. At 6' and 195 lbs., I need a fair amount of cushion also. My running shoes get worn until they're, well, worn out. I have three used pairs now and have a new pair on the way. I suppose I'm on my fifth pair. I've been wearing Asics for a very long time. I'll either stay with the XI if it remains available or try an updated version the next time I need a pair of running shoes. Im still searching for that ultimate shoe, you know, the one with a Flubber-like sole that will allow me to run miles and miles endlessly and effortlessly with

50 mi/wk, 6'1", 224 with poor technique, but this shoe gives me pretty much what I need -- extra stability with longevity. I typically get 600 miles per pair. An attractive shoe. Laces well. After wearing NBs, Nikes, Brooks, Reeboks, Sauconies, Addidas, and Target brands, I always come back to these. Good luck.

The reviews were good. I purchased 3 pairs. Received a week before Denver Marathon. Wasn't sure if I should wear a new pair on a marathon. I'm a risk taker so I did. Shoes were great. A year later I decided the pair was geting old so took out a new pair of Kayano 11s and ran the Duke City Marathon. Again great run and good time. I love these shoes.

I have torn achilles tendons and these are the only shoes I can run in and not aggravate the injury. I've tried Saucony, Reebok and other Asics. The shoes with the most cushion seem to cause more injury. I've ordered 3 new pairs of the Asics X1. When those wear out I don't know what shoes to try.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Wed, June 25,2008:
Either the hard gel arch supports are too much for my girly-soft feet, or the sizing recommendation is off by 1/2 size. Or maybe both. The toe feels like I've got a little more room than I have on my old Nike Air Zoom Elite IIIs, but not a huge amount, so I'm thinking it's the gel arch supports. Immediately upon sliding your foot in this shoe, you feel them, and they do feel good. During running they feel pretty good, too. But after every one of the 6 or 7 runs I've taken in these, I've had blisters on the inside of both feet, closer to the front of my foot than the heel. I have to take a day off between runs, which is pretty frustrating. Back to RRS they go.

The best running shoes I've ever owned! Bought them while running 100-110mi/wk for college. I'm 6'3" and 170lbs. I've had knee problems since high school in the past, but since running in the Kayano XI, my knees haven't bothered me.

Suffice to say, any time I've switched to another shoe, including the "new" Kayano, I've started to have all sorts of problems - so I'm back to using this great shoe as long as stocks last in my size. Pity Asics keeps coming up with great shoes and then keeps meddling with them every year until they start turning people off! This one is a great shoe!

These are my second pair of Asics. I was always a New Balance loyalist, but I enjoyed my first pair of Asics, and I really loved the KayanoXI. I agree with others, it fits great and no discomfort. I've been looking to get another pair and almost bought the 13, but I think I'll stick with the XI if avail.

6’2”, 210lb. 75-100mi/month. Fantastic experience with X (2p), then XI (2p), size 14. Tried the XII, very BAD experience (as per XII review). So I just bought 4p of XI from RRS (Thank YOU, RRS) to tie me over, and I’m sincerely hoping that ASICS will abort the XII/XIII fiasco.
ASICS: I can’t help but believe that only a small group of running tech nerds enjoy spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours in a never-ending experimention w/diff shoes. But most runners hunger for a shoe that is durable and ‘works’ (ie: injury free) across a broad range of biomechanics. And when they find it (ie: XI), a smart mfg will make small incremental tweaks to keep that large base of customers happy and coming back for more, year after year. Do the majority of your customers a big favor: Use the XI as the basis for the XIV, and morph the next XII/XIII (with it’s large deviation in technology) into a completely new shoe if you must.
XII/XIII – NO THANK YOU ASICS.

yeah, it is a shame they discontinued these, but they are in the "classics" section. these shoes are very comfortable and very stable but at the same time they dont feel too heavy. if i were to run all day, i would probably wear these shoes, thanks to their very cushioned ride. good job asics, now, start making them again.

I have just ordered my second pair. This is the best running shue, I have ever worn. I tried Kayano's XII and XIII. The XII model was a big dissapointment. The XIII is better, but still dissapointing compared to the XI. The XI has a perfect fit, it has exellent cushoning and offers great support and stability. And it lasts. The Kayano XI model is not just a running shue, it is a masterpiece.

These shoes are awesome! I have been in the Army since 1979 and have ran in everything from combat boots to barefeet but nothing else has made me want to sit down and write a review. I have suffered a lower left leg injury (almost amputated) as well as arthritis in both feet and these shoes feel great. You can feel the air on your feet as you run and my legs feel like I am 21 again. Amazing!

The Kayano XI's appear to be a comfortable shoe with a nice snug fit. Excellent cushioning, felt very stable, great durability. I logged 678 miles on a pair before replacement. Keep in mind that I'm a short male runner 130 pounds, 5'6", mild overpronator. Lighter or heavier runners probably will have different results.

What the reviewer below, Mike Maillis, doesn't realize is how different Asics 2110, Gel-Kayano and Foundation lines are. They offer different levels of stability and are designed for different degrees of pronation. The Gel Kayano XI is a good shoe and is on sale, which is great if you're on a budget. I prefer the newer version, the Kayano XII, because it is 2 oz lighter and I really feel the difference. If you are interested in the Kayano line, try both the XI and XII if possible. You may like the XI better and save money as well.

I usually buy asics shoes. I started out with Gel Foundation II a very good shoe. I have moved on to 2110's. I saw these shoes and ordered them. For the first two or three runs I got blisters on the outside of my feet. Since then, the shoes have softened somewhat. I dont really notice any real difference from the 2110's as far as cushioning. It's a fairly good shoe though, but I prefer my 2110's
