GEL-Kayano® XII: The #1 Shoe at RRS 10 Years in a Row! Runner's World “Editor's Choice Winner”

Runner's World Review: “This year's Kayano weighs two ounces less than last year's - no small feat in a shoe with so much great technology. How? Because of Asics's new lightweight Solyte midsole cushioning material. What's more, our Shoe Lab tests found the midsole to be softer and more resilient. The Kayano is built on a new last (foot form) for an improved fit, though women may need to go down a half-size. Recommended for average-size runners with normal to low arches looking for a well-cushioned, supportive shoe.”

Best for runners with a medium to large build and low to medium arches.

I have low arches and wear orthotics. These worked pretty well for me - I ran through 2 pairs. Plenty of room for the orthotic. I didn't feel like there was a lack of cushioning, but they did seem to have less cushion than the previous Kayano. These had good support and stability. Note that I went u...

I haven't purchased this shoe yet but I have concerns about the shoe dog questionnaire. Every shoe, including this one, that it said would work best for me, doesn't match my arch type. I have high arches, yet this shoe says it's best for med to low arched people. What gives?

Worn Kayanos for years--these were terrible-- no support or cushioning like previous Kayanos. Will go back to previous models.

I am the pickiest running shoe person that I know. I have had many pairs of shoes and several pairs of Kayanos and these are the BEST running shoes I have EVER had! I love them. They fit me like a glove, they are supportive and after I've put them on my feet, I don't even notice they're on...whic...

I've worn the Gel Kayano for over ten years and have loved every model except this one. I immediately began to develop blisters, hip pain, and shin splints. The previous models had been keeping all of these nagging problems at bay. I would definately NOT recommend this particular model!

The after 4 miles the gel balls up in areas and feels like rocks are in your shoes. After running in them for a month my knee is bothering me and an old injury is back. I will only use them for the treadmill not enough coushon for the road

Arg, I should have stuck with the GT-2110. I was hoping for more stability with this shoe (I am a small build over pronator with my share of consequent chronic injuries) but what I got was unsupportive and uncomfortable. I couldn't believe they were actually made by asics. I immediately switched bac...

I was a Nike girl for years and when they changed my favorite last year I tried the Kayano XII. Love at first step. I am afraid of trying anything else so I'm getting a back up.

I purchased these the day before a 5K run and had no problems wearing them. They are my favorite. I have NB 1122 (clunky and heavy),NB816 (not bad) and the Kayano XIII (gave me a blister) and have just oredered 2 more of the Kayano XII. Never any blisters and light so I can feel the road when I a...

Disappointing overall. Lacked the support, cushioning and stability I've come to rely on in Kayanos. Felt like average shoes at first, but I decided to try them because of the supposed great technology. I experienced knee pain on my second run in these and sent them right back. These are not the Sta...

After wearing Kayano's comfortably out-of-the-box for years, these were terrible. The sizing was completely different and caused muscle pain, that lasted over a month, the first time I run in them. Could Kayano's 'best shoe' run be over? I'm going to try XIII and hope not.

After having several previous Kayano's this one was ok..then good... then poor really quick! I'll explain. For some reason this particular shoe needed a break in period after about 40 miles they fit well and started molding to my foot. I just found that strange b'c none of my previous Keyano's neede...

I always wore ASICS but thought this time I would try a different brand this time around. The New Balance and Saucony just didn't fit my feet quite right. The ASICS fits like a glove right out of the box. I love the upper materialand its light weight. The only complaint I have, I would have liked mo...

I am also petite ( 5'0, 100lbs.) and bought this shoe from a "professional" shoe fit guy. I LOVE IT!! I have run 1 half marathon and many 5ks and 10ks in them. The completely support me. I think it all depends on your foot and the way you run. Mine have lasted forever, so it is time to get new ones ...

I had my feet fitted for shoes at a runners' shop. The "professional" sales person recommended the kayano. I was very disappointed. I ran a half marathon and the ball of my feet started to hurt after 6 miles. I went back and had gel inserts put in. It wasn't any better. I am 5'0" and weighs 11...

I love these shoes! I had the previous installment and found them to be a bit heavy and clunky, however they still got the job done. But these were wonderful! They're super lightweight with good cushioning and the only thing that I have to complain about is that one of my feet still hasn't quite ...

I replaced my previous kayanos with these and was disappointed. Although they are lightweight, they fit wide, and don't have enough support.

I bought these shoes and have run in them twice and they hurt the ball of my foot. There is a lump in the sole that is supposed to fall in front of the ball of my foot and behind my toes, but falls directly under the ball of my right foot causing bruising. I've tried a larger size and a smaller siz...

I tried these shoes, and after day five, I bought 5 more pairs. These are my ultimate marathon running shoes. Lightweight, enough width in the forefoot, great cushioning, mesh makes the shoe extra flexible. After a few miles you forget you're running in this shoe. What made it even better is I slipp...

This shoe has allowed me to run VIRTUALLY injury free for most of my fall marathon training, but I'm disappointed that at approx 150 mi. this shoe wears out. Shin splints & knee pain kick in @ this point. Symptoms disappear w/ a fresh pair, though. I had the same issue w/ the GT series while trai...

Great shoe. I'm a heavy runner, 6'3" and 230lbs and used to run with Adida's Supernova Control shoe, they updated it, and the she stunk. I bought these Asics and ran a 10k with them the next day, no problems. Specifics; soft and comfortable upper, nice cushioning and light for most shoes that a l...

Just ordered my second pair. THey last about 300-400 miles then they die fast. They could use some more cushioning in the forefoot, I tend to feel the tread after a few miles. But then again they do not last forever. I got about 5 months out of them and that is longer than i got out of other sho...
