Hate is a strong word. I've worn ASICS 2100 series for a couple of years now. Enjoyed the 2140s and now the 2150s. I bought the 2110s because they were on sale but found there wasn't enough cushioning in the toe region. I felt this way from day one and ran about 100 miles in them before giving up and succumbing to buying something else.
I require a bit of extra support as I am 5'9 but these did not provide it!

I have been using 2110's for years and did like them. The last two pairs, however, have seemed to wear out within a few months. The tread on the bottom just seems to disappear now which stinks since I did love the feel of them and have no other problems. Granted these aren't the most expensive shoes out there, but they should last more than 3 months for a walker like me.

Thanks, Roadrunner, for having this "oldie but goodie." I am not a runner, but someone with serious foot issues. I wear a custom orthodic in a running shoe (ASIC) 99.99% of the time. The newer GT's (2130) just didn't work for me. LOVE this shoe: both the fit and the look. For me, the cushioning, stability, and heel fit (my heel is narrow) are great.

I ran the Pikes Peak Ascent, my first marathon and first half marathon in GT-2110s.
I love these shoes - I have been wearing GT-2110s for years, and am very sad they don't make them anymore.
They have great cushion, support and are so comfortable. I've run trail, road and dreadmill on them.
I tried the GT-2120s and they had a completely different fit.
If you loved the GT-2110s and found another shoe that you love equally, I'd love to hear about it.

Some people may not like these shoes, but I have been running in asics for years and I first had the 2100's and loved them, but these are my absolute favorite. Tried the 2120's and had knee and achilles problems, so I had to go around and find some 2110's and I will probably never run in any other shoe again!

I used to SWEAR by Asics. They were always a perfect fit right out of the box. The 2100's were absolutely wonderful shoes. These however are not. They broke down fast, and the toebox is different. There isn't much spring in these at all. I have switched to Sauconys and am SO SO happy with them. Asics seems to be changing there designs and not for the better.I have ran marathons in the 2100's...but would never consider running one in these.

I loved these shoes for about 2 months. Then I realized they were wearing out in several places. I run about 25 mi./week. This pair is about the 3rd Asics pair I've bought that I've ultimately been disappointed in. And it may be the last pair of Asics I buy until I read reviews where the company has overhauled its quality control. I developed Achilles tendon problems as well as metatarsal problems with this shoe. Thanks to the other reviewers who revealed the same problems I was having! I just didn't want to believe my problems were occuring because of this shoe!

Initially, these shoes seemed above average. They wore out very quickly, however, and became hard on my joints (esp. knees) and aggravated my Achilles tendon. Switched to the Trigon 4 Ride, and am much better served. Over the past couple of years, I have become increasingly unimpressed with Asics, but only recently found a suitable alternative. I am a small build runner (125 lbs.) with low arches and no pronation issues. Probably should have purchased a neutral shoe at the start.

Sun, October 22,2006:
I wish I could give these shoes less than 1 star. Asics used to be my favorite shoe. I called them my "car" because I put them on straight out of the box and they took me wherever I wanted to go, from a 5k to a marathon. I'm a tall woman and have always had to run in men's shoes because of my long, narrow feet. I used to run in Kayanos until Spril 2001 when they totally changed the design and were too wide for my feet. I recently settled on the GT-2110 because it came in a men's narrow, but I find that with each new model Asics manages to make a cheaper, less supportive and less cushioned shoe. My pair scarcely lasted 3 months before it lost all ability to slow my pronation and my forefoot and knees ached from the dead cushioning. Additionally, I have run slower in these shoes than any other. A new model is being released by November 1st, so I can only hope it is better. The 2110 will be on sale, but my advice is DON"T BUY THEM. I wouldn't take another pair for free.

These shoes are very comfortable in the toe area. However, when I took them out for their first run, the inside part of my left arch was aching and stiff. My right foot is slightly bigger than my left; I also have flat feet. So maybe my feet are the culprit. Does anyone have any ideas? If these don't work, what would you recommend for a small build, flat-footed, person...?

at first i didn't like these shoes, they made me feel like i was running on a platform 2 inches off the ground (sounds cool, but it isn't). It also felt like there was no heel lift at all, thus making the shoe feel slow. But after about 5 runs of about 5 miles they set very well and now they feel great. i think this is because of the "space trussic system." anyway, now that they are broken in they feel amazing. they definietly aren't like the 2100 although i really liked those too (i am a loyal to the 2000 series), but the two shoes feel very different, there is a little more stability in the 2110s and the ride is a little smoother. i have about 200 miles on my first pair and they show no signs of breaking down anytime soon. 5'11'', 160, medium arch, moderate pronator

I find the 2110s to be comfortable and well cushioned. I ran 5 miles in them today and felt great - really noticed the cushioning. I am 6'2", 185 lbs and wear a size 13. The 2110s do seem a little larger than the 13s I have been used to. If these shoes maintain adequate cushioning for 400+ miles then I would raise the rating to 5.

I've worn the 2080, 2100 and various Nimbus shoes over the years. The 2110 is the first shoe to cause me problems. I developed metatarsal problems at the base of my toes from the excessive flexibility of this shoe in the forefoot. I compared the sole of the 2100 and the 2110. The 2100 has a flex groove that zig zags across the sole, the 2110 has a straight flex groove. The result is the 2110 bends easier at the forefoot causing increased pressure at the base of the toes. I switch to the Nimbus which has a stiffer forefoot and my toe problems slowly went away.

This shoe feels good while I'm running in it; good cushioning and response. But it looks like it doesn't control my overpronation. After 73 miles the soles are wearing on the inside front, plus I kick my ankle sometimes when bringing my foot forward, which tells me I'm toeing off on the inside of my foot. These shoes are heavy--and for no good reason, because they don't control anything. I've been rotating them with the 1110 and the new balance 766. And those seem to work fine, with outsole wear in the middle.

I've run in ASCICS since the '70s (remember the "Extender"?) and the 1000 and 2000 lines have generally been great. I thought the GT2100 was a perfect shoe. The GT2110 has a really hard heel counter, and is rubs the back of my heel like the GT2100 never did (or any other ASCICS shoe I've worn). I ended up lacing it more loosely, and the problem went away (try it!). The "ride" of the GT2110 is very nice, and I think its mechanics are as good or better than the GT2100. Just wish they'd do something about the heel counter.

Have used the ASIC 2xxx series for about 4 years now. First off, I fit perfect into a 12.5 with the 2090's, but with the 2110 it was too long and had to size down to a 12. Also, I need the posted sole or else I get shin splits, but going from the 2090 to the 2110, I developed shin splits within a few days. Since the 2090 is no longer available, I bought the 2100, and they seem ok, so far.

I have been wearing Asics 2000 series for the last few years. I have wide feet, low arches and wear orthotics. I was pleased with more cushioning of 2110 compared to the last model, but it seemed that the toe box got narrower than 2100 - my toenails bruised in the outside of the foot which never happened before with previous models. I liked the width of 2100 better.

I was unsure whether to give these a shot or to buy 10 pairs of the GT2100s...I'm glad I took the chance, and I thought I'd write the review I wish I could've seen. I'm a small-to-medium frame, neutral runner (my foot doesn't roll inward or outward). I have a narrow heel, wide forefoot and high arch, which usually combines to create the feeling that my foot is "fighting" with shoes that are designed for more stability. Highly cushioned shoes always feel like they have a little too much room inside, like my foot is swimming in cushioning. The 2110s are like the 2100s in fit (nice and snug at the heel, plenty of space for my toes), I take the same size in both, and they are perfect. It feels like there is a touch more arch support in these (fine with me). These Asics have once again struck just the right balance between cushioning and stability. Huzzah!

I've been running in the Asics 2XXX series for several years, and have usually been pleased with each updated model. However, after 4 runs on my new 2110s, I've decided I will have to send them back. I've never sent shoes back before. It feels like the toe box is actually narrower, or maybe the shoe just fits a little bit smaller than before, or perhaps the changes to the forefoot have altered the way the shoe flexes in the toe box. But in any case, my three outer toes on each foot, as well as the balls of my feet, have been falling asleep/getting numb after a mile or so. I set out for an 8 mile run and had to stop after 4 miles because I could not feel my feet and I was worried about doing permanent damage! A run on the treadmill (usually a forgiving running surface) also caused the same problem. I will be ordering another pair of 2100s while they're still available and hoping the 2120s are better...
