      These shoes finally go back to basics - they're nearly identical to the Onitsuka Tigers (same striping - new brand name Asics) I wore in the early 1970s when I was running in college. High, padded heels have not reduced injuries - the frequency of injuries has gone up (see "Conditioning Research"). If you're used to going barefoot, or want to transition to barefoot while protecting your feet, these are great shoes. If you're used to the thick, padded heel everywhere else, they'll take getting used to. You will use your calves and ankles more for stability, strengthening them. But work your way into that if you're new. It will be worth it - I wish I'd never left this kind of shoe.
