Comments about Mens Brooks Cascadia 5 Trail Running Shoe:

Most comfortable shoe I have worn. My pronation issues made me replace the insoles with green superfeet, unfortunately, but still dang comfy. Good fit around heel and mid-foot, with good toe room. Fifty miles, so far, on enhanced deer trails. Reasonable traction going up and down muddy hills. Lugs are spaced well so mud does not accumulate on shoe bottom. I have no problem with shoe laces coming untied like some reviewers. I use the "Ian Knot", which may make the difference. Water resistance is as good as any, but definitely not waterproof. Tall wet grass makes my feet wet. My favorite trail shoe by far.

Comments about Mens Brooks Cascadia 5 Trail Running Shoe:

Let me tell ya, this shoe has it all for the avid to casual trail/hiker. The shoe is very lightweight and hooks up excellent to trail terrain. It's ok on the road but this shoe is strictly trail based. I have nothing but good things to say about the shoe. I've had the same pair since 2007 logging almost 4 to 5 miles a day on average and yea they are worn but what shoe wouldnt be after that. They aren't falling apart of anything though. I still run in them and they are still comfortable. The Cascadia shoe is a must for all trail and outdoor rec. runners.

Comments about Mens Brooks Cascadia 5 Trail Running Shoe:

I run on part pavement, part gravel trail, part packed dirt trail and these are great for all three. I ran in light snow and footing was secure. These are very comfortable and not bulky or too heavy. I'm 6'2" and weight 180lb with average arches. I hate when I'm running on all pavement and I have to run in my regular road shoes!

Comments about Mens Brooks Cascadia 5 Trail Running Shoe:

This shoe is very light, but durable. I run trails in desert environment it feels great. The grip is excellent. I'm already thinking about using my next discount on another pair. I don't want these to go away. I'm a heavy runner and appreciate durability. I have to use a heel lift because of my tendinitis and these shoes adapt well to my lifts.

Comments about Mens Brooks Cascadia 5 Trail Running Shoe:

I an in my 15th pair of Cascadias, using them for un assisted trail runs up to 45 miles and trail races up to 100 miles. The protection plate and hydroflow work well. They are capable in varied conditions, including wading creeks, mud, snow, rocky technical trails, and class 3 scrambles. I use orthotics, and with two pairs of socks and a size larger than normal shoe to get the large toebox to protect the toes on downhills, I have not experienced a blister in years. My only complaint is sand gets into the shoe due to the fairly open mesh in the forefoot. I would prefer a tighter mesh, even if it does not let the water out after a creek crossing and is warmer during a run. Great shoe - I would not even try anything else.

This is the best piece of footwear I have yet to purchased and I will tell you this I will purchase it again once the show finally wears out. The cushion is great and it's very light. If you walk over 2miles or do modern trail running you need this shoe.

Bought these mainly for trail running but I have found they work just as well on the road. Very durable and offer great support (especially downhill and on rugged terrain).

Also one feature I really like for those avid trail runners - they dry very fast!

Light weight trail shoe. Feels like a road shoe, but with good traction and tough sole, so you don't feel the rocks. I wore them out of the box for the Pikes Peak Marathon and they were wonderful.

Comments about Mens Brooks Cascadia 5 Trail Running Shoe:

I have been wearing the Cascadia since III, when I switched from Montrails. THe III was just ok, the IV was much better and the V is just about perfect. I have a high arch and am neutral to under-pronating. Most trail shoes seem to have medial posts or some other stability feature that forces my foot into an ankle risking orientation. The Cascadia V is low profile, provides trail stability and reasonable under foot protection while remaining flexible, responsive and lightweight. I would probably not go to it as my first pick for a route with a lot of technical downhill and rocks and roots that could batter the sides of the foot, but for everything other than that, including runs with segments of road, packed fire trails, single track and long trail runs the Cascadia is my first choice.

My only complaint is the low healcup make for easy heal slipping. I also wish there was more arch support but I'm sure more efficient runners would disagree. All in all a great trail shoe and the most comfortable I have owned.

Comments about Mens Brooks Cascadia 5 Trail Running Shoe:

I'm a heavier runner at 6' 225lbs and an overpronator. I've always wore Brooks Beast. I've tried other brands and Brooks seems to work for me the best. I was looking for a shoe for trail running and the Cascadia was recommended. It's been a great shoe. Seems to fit tighter than my Beasts. If you are going to be running long distance you might want a half size up or a different width since your feet will swell. Great cushioning, stability, and traction. I like them so much that I'm wearing them on the road.
