I'm super picky about my (road running, trail running, hiking, workout) gear. Turns out my favorite running shorts (TNF Better than Naked) are perfect for lots of things except crossover sports. That's where these come in.

Most guy's shorts with inner boxer briefs are too heavy and too long. These are not like that. The inner brief is the perfect length at 4.5 inches. The outside shell is short enough to not catch on upper thighs and both are soft enough to not chaff. There is no zipper pocket on the back which is a buck against the trend (which i appreciate) for most guy's shorts as of late. That's what makes these the best dual purpose shorts for running and yoga/gym workouts.

My only "modifications" to this short are 1) I cut 6" of waist drawstring from each side and 2) I extend the length of the side leg slits by cutting up the leg seam about three more inches. There is an obvious place to stop at the next seam so the shorts don't unravel or fray. It's almost as if Brooks knew people might want to add more freedom of movement and added this in anticipation.

Why 4 stars? Knock off one star for price.
