As someone whose feet go numb at the first sign of cold weather thanks to a bout with frostbite as a child, I was really worried about my ability to stay on track with my half-marathon training over the winter months. As an avid day hiker, I knew that Gore-Tex shoes with heavy, insulated ski/snowboard socks were my best hope. But while I already owned a pair of Gore-Tex trail runners, I found that they were way too stiff and ponderous for running on pavement. So when Brooks came out with a Gore-Tex version of my usual running shoe, I was thrilled to bits. Today was the first time I really put them to the test, with an 11-mile run in brisk 30-degree weather. They performed beautifully; my feet stayed warm for the entire run. I've also worn them for a shorter run in the rain, and they lived up to my expectations for that as well. My only caveat is that I wouldn't recommend this shoe for trail running. The sole is the same as the regular Ghost and just won't stand up to the abuse that trail runners are designed to handle. But in my case, that's exactly what I wanted.

I have the brooks ghost in the summer version, they are just so, so. I have put about 100 miles on them so far. I was looking for a shoe that was water proof that I could run on and off road. I took these out the other morning and ran a couple of miles, was pretty impressed. I ran today in our annual turkey trot (5k) now I know thats a pretty short distance but it was pavement and trail, I was very impressed with this shoe. I can't testify to the water proof yet but I will do that soon. They were perfect, for todays run very comfy right out of the box and I appreciate the dark color. I can't wait to try them in wet conditions, I am tempted to buy another pair. Hope they don't change a thing.

This shoe was fantastic for a cold winter. They kept my feet very warm! They were nearly always dry also, until one race with 2-3 inches of slush. I bought a second pair!

I run 30+ miles a week in the winter months and bought these hoping to stay warm and dry in the Montana cold. They are amazing! They fit much like Brooks Ghosts, but the Gore-Tek means no cold, no dampness. They will be great for coaching this chilly spring track season. Plan to buy them for every winter!

I have been running since July 2011 and these are my second pair of shoes. These are new so I only had the two reviews to go off of. I run three miles every morning. I run on the road and in the grass so these work well either way. I do not have a complaint about the shoes I put 15 miles on them a week. These are great running shoes!
