About to buy fourth pair of these

5

I'm a retired runner, age 62, now a walker. Am about to buy fourth pair, cannot wear them out. The velcro pair looks like geezer-shoes, but no matter. They stand up to power walking for a long time before being relegated to casual and then gardening after that.

Very pleasant surprise!

I'm extremely hard on shoes due to being overweight and finding a comfortable shoe is a major battle for me. I took a chance on the review I read and gave them a try. Felt awkward coming from the Brooks Ghost 8 due to shoe weight and type. But after they were broken in I don't want to ever take them off! My walking stride has picked up, ankle and foot pain has decreased and stability has increased. I also have spinal stenosis that causes sudden pains and muscle/balance loss in my feet and legs. These seem to help the situation due to the stability they provide. I came here to order a second set in white for summer wear and decided to post my review. My biggest fear is now that I have found a great shoe, Brooks will change it. If it matters, I'm a 54 yo. male

I am now a Brooks addict

This is my 6th pair of the Men's Brooks Addiction Walker walking shoe. The 1st pair was purchased from RRS 1 year ago on 2/9/2017. I now have all 3 colors in 2 sizes (14 & 15), which are sized dependent upon the thickness of socks that vary with the seasons here in gloriously snow-free Phoenix, AZ. As a lifelong runner (since First Grade) who is recently retired but still joyously running, I hereby testify that the Walker is more comfortable, more cushioned, and more supportive than the several pairs of my currently favorite running shoe, New Balance 1210v2 Trail Runner. In fact, I would use the Brooks Walker for running my usual 6.5 trail miles except that I suspect that the Walker is not sufficiently breathable for running in warm/hot weather. However, they work most magnificently for running short distances (1 or 2 blocks per sprint) on pavement, which I do multiple times daily year-round when my run-happy dog takes me for her once-per-day walk-trot-sprint for about 1 hour in the neighborhood. I'm also impressed with the shoes' durability despite the fact that they are my everyday shoe with my only alternate footwear being running shoes (used only for running) or hiking boots (used only for hiking or yard work) or slippers. It is safe to say that I like the Brooks Walker very much despite the fact that I have flat feet from birth and have lately developed a noticeable pronation problem. I mitigate pronation with Spenco Total Support Thin Insoles in my running shoes & hiking boots, but they are not needed in the Brooks Walker, where I use the original Brooks insole. My only complaint is that the well cushioned tongue should be a little longer, as I have to pull it up way too tightly to ensure that the top laces do not slip down onto my socks. I expect that my next pair of running shoes will be Brooks, as it has been decades since I last tried Brooks running shoes.

EXCELLENT/AWESOME!!!

5

Love the comfort these shoes give my feet. I am 64 years young with feet that played sports for a lot of years. Also stood on cement floors at work for 40+ years. My pads on the bottom of my feet are a lot thinner then they used to be and these shoes help them a bunch.(Added a thin gell insert also) Bought them last May and started to go for walks 6 out of every 7 days.Worked my way up to walking 75 minutes per day. Started eating better, stretching before walking and taking a dietary Supplement twice a day.(FORSKOLIN). Have lost 33lbs. I owe a lot to these Brooks shoes, without them I would never have have kept up with the walking.I am purchasing two more pair right now. (one black and one brown). As Billy Crystal used to say: "I feel marvelous" !!!

Comfortable and durable

5

The Addiction Walker is my day in, day out, go-to comfortable, stable, supportive shoe, especially in wet cold PNW winters for the past 2+ years. The stable support and sole have been excellent for walking on hard surfaces (note; installed Superfeet blue insoles, as with all my foot gear). Fit is a teeny bit different than the summertime mesh version, but both work very well. Stitching and soles very durable. Water resistance enhanced with silicon waterproofer. Snow and ice traction poor. Improved this winter by adding diy cross hatch 1/8" deep siping to the soles (about 3/8" spacing between lines) with small sharp shop knife (keep the blade on the sole, avoid fingers!). Good design, good build. Happy customer here.

Comfortable and Stable Out of the Box

5

Very comfortable walking shoes right out of the box, as the title says. I have some orthopedic problems in my left foot and so need cushioning and stability. These shoes do the job. Cushioning is ample and I have no problems with foot pain resulting from insufficient stability. I've had these shoes for seven months and they hardly show any wear. Of course, the tread begins to wear down. I walk 4-5 miles six days a week so that is expected. I highly recommend these shoes. VERY comfortable. My single critical remark is that they look a bit clunky when wearing them with shorts. Otherwise they are perfect for me.

So far so good

4

Bought these to replace some old Clark work shoes. I walk a lot in a day of work but needed something that looks a little more professional than running shoes but more comfortable than work shoes. They are plain and boring looking but that's OK with me. Have only wore them for a week but so far so good. I didn't find them super comfortable out of the box but think they will be great as I break them in. I run 20-25 miles per week and just wanted something easier on my feet and legs after a full day of work. Too early for a final verdict but good so far

Comfiest walking shoes I have worn

5

These shoes are great for walking. I had the New Balance 846's before this and while they were fine, they didn't have the arch support and cushioning that these shoes have. I have no more foot pain while walking for long periods of time. The only negative is that they are rather ugly. I originally bought the black and while they were super comfy they looked terrible. I exchanged for the brown and I've been happier, though not totally satisfied with the style.

Problem Solver

5

After trying all the other brand name shoes,I found these the best because they alleviated my discomforts related to my flat, overpronating feet. They are unique in being cushioned like a running shoe yet made for walking. They are not mesh so they do better in cold or rainy weather. Also they have non slip soles. If you wear insoles, try Dr. Scholls Tricomfort insoles on top of the insole already there.

This shoe was recommended to me by a foot&ankle specialist(an M.D.)as well as by a physical therepist. They were said to be ideal for my flat feet and overpronation.Unlike so many other walking shoes, they have the great cushioning of a running shoe.Since they are not mesh, they give better protection from the rain and cold weather. Also the soles are quite slip resistant

Great Shoe

5

Arthritis in my knee's forced me to move from running to walking so this was my first walking shoe. Stepped down a size and went with a narrower shoe than I used when running so it was a guess as to fit. Fit perfect right out of the box. Very comfortable and look great as a casual shoe as well.

Most comfortable walker ever!!!!

5

I used to get my walk around shoes from pay less or discount shoe stores but once I pit my foot in the Brooks addiction walker I knew that these shoes were what I have been looking for!!they fit perfectly right out of the box and are so supportive and comfortable on my daily walks. Big recommendation to anyone who wants a great walking shoe for everyday or fitness.

Good foot support, comfortable and durable

5

Going on fourth year for current pair. Physical therapist recommended them and use of Smartfeet Blue insoles. These are the daily driver shoes for fall-spring-winter (wet side of Washington State). Aftermarket silicon waterproofing works well. The soles were worn smooth at the start of 2016 winter making for slippery traction on snow and ice. Added cross-hatch siping with shop knife on soles from toe to heel, lines about 1/4" apart, 1/8" deep; traction improved. About time to order a new pair. The old ones are finally starting to come apart.

Blind Squirrel Finds a Nut

5

bought the shoes for my picky, picky husband. he's flat-footed, doesn't like to shop for his clothes. he wears the Beast for running, gave the Addiction a try. He wears them everyday. Loves them, best fit and most comfortable walking shoes he has had in a long time (thank God). Even a blind squirrel finds a nut!

Yes on reorder! I love these Brooks walkers.

4

I bought these walkers for working at FedExHomeDel, I have feet problems so i switched from"running shoes", because I had not found any that gave me the cushion I need. The walkers have been great! Wonderful support in the heels, in fact it seems I need or am inclined to walk straight . Any down side may be that for where I live Alabama the leather is a little warm, but not uncomfortable. I will look for some walkers with support and are light for warmer months. But I will be reordering these Brooks again for sure. The delivery was fast on these and I like the option of 90 days free trial, but won't need it with these shoes.

Super Good

For running I use Defyance and needed dressier shoe for work. The Addiction Walker fits like the Deyance on my flat feet. Required no breaking in. Immediately walking 2-3 miles daily on pavement. Will buy another pair to rotate wear.

My 4th pair and I'll keep buying them.

5

Wear them every day, all day and my feet and legs feel so much better since I started buying this shoe. I have more energy at the end of the day and even sleep better without so many aches and pains. Love this shoe.

Best Walking and Sometimes Running Shoe

5

Best single shoe to take traveling; excellent for walking, practical for running; easy to wash after outdoors; looks almost dressy, but not best for Opera/Ballet or Elegant Socials. A must to take traveling.

I would buy this product again.

5

I have been using this as a work shoe for 3 weeks. So far, so good. I am on my feet all day at a hospital. Being a 62 year old with plantar fasciitis and tendonitis in the left arch, this shoe has by far produced the best results in terms of pain management and overall comfort. I am walking with a great spring in my step not experienced in years and hope that with additional TLC for my feet I will not have to worry about hobbling into retirement! Incidentally, I bought 3 pairs to make sure the shoes got the proper "rest" between use.

Love the Addiction Walker

5

Having bad knees, this is the only shoe I've found that I can stand on concrete and my knees won't be killing me after a shift. Can wear them with work clothes or with dress slacks. They look appropriated with either.

Walking on clouds

5

I been buying these shoes for my father for years. He swears it feels he's walking on clouds. Not only does it offer the support he needs but loves the brown color that goes with everything on his wardrobe.

Good support but not durable.

2

There is a long, thin piece that constitutes the bottom of the sole of the shoe; it is designed so as to curl up onto the front (toe) section of the shoe, where it is glued to that front section. After a few months of light use (1-2 times per week), this piece is already becoming unglued. I am disappointed because otherwise this seems to be a good shoe, with good support, but in my opinion the defect on this one feature outweighs everything else.

Bad color good shoe?

5

So far they feel awesome on my very needy feet. I look forward to breaking them in and seeing how they do. But they shoe that came was WAY WAY darker brown than the picture here on the site. I might not have ordered it had I known the true color.

Big and Wide Comfort out of the Box

5

I have big and wide feet. Size 13 EEEE. Addiction is a walking shoe so I bought it for daily and office wear. After first day I didn't even think about the shoe one time. Very comfortable. Haven't worn on long walk yet. The brown suede look is classy. My wife loves it as it's the first tennis shoe type I've had in 4 years. I've received more positive comments on this shoe than any other. Probably will reorder.
