I am a 150 lb aggressive trail runner, normally training at the 5-6 minute mile pace. I normally run combination runs, very little pavement, mostly sand and gravel and some aggressive trails with steep hills, lots of roots and curves.

Out of the box these shoes felt great - true to size, very light, great cushioning. My first run was an a fairly mellow dirt and gravel track - I was very comfortable. The shoes felt great - plenty of cushioning and fairly responsive. The shoes felt VERY light. I give them very high marks for combination road and light trail work.

Second run was on a pretty aggressive trail - water obstacles, roots, sand and mud, steep hills and dynamic curves. Here, not so good. The shoes proved to have a fairly high CG which translated to a feel that was a bit shaky, I really had to watch myself going down hill or around curves for feel of torquing and ankle. Also, the heel sits a bit high, causing my toes to get compacted into the front of the toe box and also causing some calf discomfort.

Bottom line - these are great shoes for fast training on light terrain. If you are looking for a true off road shoe, I'm not sure the Cascadia 7 is the right shoe.

I have run in the 5's and 6's and the new 7's are a vast improvement on the 6's. They feel very similar to the 5's with maybe a little less cushioning.

6'2" 200lbs. I tend to run in Asics Gel Kayano (11.5) for road running. I had the Cascadia 5s and loved them so I decided to try the 7s. They fit great out of the box (12) and I've been running in them since I got them and they're fine. The only thing is they feel like they have less cushioning than the 5s. I may end up putting additional insoles in them...

Always go up 1 size from street shoes for trail shoes to allow for foot room. Generally good traction with Cascadia unless flat wet rocks. Good trail shoe.

These shoes are neutral, so I did not expect any stability features in the shoe, but I did not expect the sole of the shoe to be curved so much from side to side. Under the ball of the foot the sole of the shoe is quite wobbly. This caused a great deal of pain in the knees as they were forced to adapt and make the shoe work. I can feel the unbalancing affect and my wife could see it while running behind me. I do not know if this is unique to my shoe (ie a defect) or is designed into the shoe. Needless to say they will never be worn again. I am no newbie, and usually keep my opinions to myself so this is quite stretch.

Just received the new 7's but the color looks more like teal. Kids said it looked like a "chick color". Will be going back.

I highly recommend this shoe. Had a prior pair of Cascadias which I enjoyed very much but this model is even better. Great right out of the box. Comfortable and they grip very well on rocks and roots. Wish I'd have purchased them sooner.

After running in the 5s, 6s, and now the 7, I truly think the 5 was a superior shoe. That being said, the 7 is still a durable and dependable shoe. It feels like either the toebox has been narrowed or the reinforcement on the outside now constricts the shoe so much that my toes are cramped and rub. I ordered a full size up and also use a shoe stretcher to widen the toe box. That seemed to work. Cushioning is less and I substituted another insert in lieu of the stock one.

Getting into Trail Ultras and this shoe works well. Gravel trails, single track, rock slides, sand, etc. Also works well when wet, which is common in the woods. A little heavy, but fits me well. Needed a good stable, rugged shoe after breaking a toe (again) with my VFFs on the trail.
