If you are already in the Brooks Pure line, then you will appreciate the arch and insole of this shoe. Felt very similar to my Cadences when trying them on, but with a slightly stiffer feel (due to the rock plate, I'm told) LIke all the women's Pure this year, they seem to run bigger in the toe box and length than the first year's fit. Was in a 9.5 in my Cadence 1's, now in a 9 on my Cadence 2's, Flow 2's and now the Grit. The back of the shoe does seem 'taller' though and I got rubbing and a blister on my left heel when I hiked in them, but not when I run in them. I appreciated the lacing system on these more than in the running shoes. The traction is definitely better than in the running shoes (which I sometimes slip in) even though tread isn't overwhelming.
the most fantastical run shoe ever
lovelovelove this shoe. not just my favorite trail shoe, my favorite anything shoe. had the pure grit 1 and wasn't super impressed so I returned them. glad I gave these a try despite that earlier experience. my road shoes are the flows so my dream trail shoe was a flow with good traction that took the bite out of rocks. THIS is my dream trail shoe. light, good traction and rock protection, great arch support, and a good dose of cush under my ball/midstep. wish there were more colors, because I'd buy them all. my husband calls them my butterfly shoes, because of the design. pretty even when coated with dust and mud. please don't change these brooks. please!
Comfy and cute!
The laces take a little getting used to because the angle makes them tight, but then they don't slip easily either.
While they are very comfy at first, especially for high arches, they are still a little stiff and need a couple wears to loosen. Then they're great!
Oh, and make sure you wear socks that have some height at the back. The heel is low and can create blisters. I like thin no-show socks with tabs at the front and back. I also sized up a half size to help.

My third pair of Pure Grit 2!
I'm an ultra runner and had tried various types of trail runners. Hands down, these are my favorite for all terrains. I wore a pair for my last 100 miler with zero foot issues and had no need to change shoes. That says a lot for a pair of sneakers!
I preferred the Pure Grit 1
It feels heavier and bigger than the same size in the pure grit 1. I may try a half size down but it still is an ounce heavier than the previous model. The tred does seem better from trail running standpoint but the fit and feel just aren't as perfect as what I'm used to with brooks.
Love this shoe!
Love the shoe! The toe box is a little big and my left food in particular moves around a little, but managing it with the right socks. Would definitely buy these again. A big improvement over the original Pure Grit model.

Love this shoe!
I run trails and also use it to workout at the gym. Really love these shoes. I have never had a shoe in the "minimalist" category because of foot problems. It has been great!
