I've been running in the Ghosts since the 3's, and have gone thru about 7 pairs of Ghosts in that time. So, the 6's were a no brainer for me. I just went to my running store and got my usual size and starting running in them (as usual). However after each of my 4 runs that I did in them, I got this fatigue feeling in the top of my foot, almost like I was pushing down with my toe and getting a cramp. It's hard to explain, but the coincidence of the new shoes and no change in mileage, was too much. (I'm about a 30 miles per week runner.)
My feeling in the shoe was that my foot was sliding around in the toe box and I was "gripping" with my toes as my feet would slide. I tried lacing tighter, but to no big change in the feeling.
My hypothesis, based on nothing more than replaying this in my head, is that the changes they made to the upper is just so thin now. There is less fabric to hold my foot in and there is just too much "give". I took out my old 5's for a run and the feel is totally different to me. Also, I agree with the other review about the laces, they changed to these very thin laces that I also think "cut" into the top of my foot given the thinner material and the style of these laces. I liked the sausage type laces much better.
Not sure how to pinpoint it, but as runner, we know our aches and pains better than most, and this was a new sensation that I didn't want to mess with. There are differences with this new version that I can feel and with this new sensation, the shoes just don't work for me. I wanted to post this since this "fatigue" type feeling in the top of my foot was new to me and was hoping to find some validation with fellow runners and let people what I experienced.
If you are like me, I did everything in my power NOT to have to find another shoe, I'm a creature of habit, but this feeling was too much to ignore. So, I swapped out the Ghost's for the Nike Pegasus 30's. I figure this was a safe shoe that I ran in years ago so I have them ready to go today. Fingers crossed!
Another great Ghost model
The Ghost 6 continues the legacy of the Ghost model series. I replaced my Ghost 5's with a new pair of Ghost 6's, and couldnt be more pleased. They are comfortable right out of the box, as I have always found Brooks shoes to be. The first run I did in them was 11 miles, right out of the box with NO PROBLEMS.
Compared to the Ghost 5's, I would say the few changes that they did make were well thought out and do enhance the shoe. The new tounge foam does make for a better ventilated shoe, and the removal of the plastic shank in the midfoot makes the overall feel more responsive in my opinion. There were some other minor cosmetic changes and they also did something with the overlays on the toe to eliminate hot spots and rubbing, but I never had a problem with the Ghost 5's rubbing in the toebox.
The one thing that I would say is not an improvement is the laces. They used to have sausauge style round laces, and now come with standard flat laces. This might be personal preference, but I dont think the flat laces stay in place as well. If anything, I would like them to go back to the sausage style laces, or even include the stay-tied style. Not like changing laces to fit my taste is hard or expensive though.
Overall, a great daily trainer shoe. I have no problem putting 40+ miles a week on my Ghost 6's, and have no complaints about comfort.
Montello Mud Man
Brooks Ghost 6 mens
I have to say that after running with the Brooks ghost 6 for awhile I will never have to look for another shot.I have been running in Mizuno wave riders for about a year, and the we're great shoes., but the ghost has a much smoother ride and I feel more confident with my stride and foot falls as I run. I had knee surgery about 13 months ago and still had some lingering doubts as to the stability of the knee. The ghost as eliminated the constant ping in my mind about the knee. I can run faster with confidence. The cushion and roll off are amazing. I have since traded in my other shoes (Mizuno wave riders) for two more pair of Brooks Ghost 6's. I run more consistently and on lower runs of 10 to 14 miles, and after the runs my legs feel great.. Like another couple of warm down miles. All that just to say don't hesitate to try these shoes.. You will be happy..
Second pair, expect to buy more
This is my second pair of Brooks Ghosts -- both Ghost 5 -- and I love them. I was wearing Asics but wanted something with more cushioning. I was sold on these when I first tried them on in the running-shoe store. Much lighter, much more cushion, and much more breathable.
I use them almost exclusively for road running, but in the past week I've used them on muddy trails and on snow- and ice-covered sidewalks and roads. They've handled the adverse conditions quite nicely.
I do have one quirky complaint: I bought the first pair at a shoe store, the second from Road Runner Sports. Both pairs of shoes are fine, but the laces that came with the RRS pair are about 8 inches shorter -- short enough that they're actually difficult to tie. I don't want to return shoes just cuz I don't like the laces, and I'm hoping a break-in period will take care of the problem.
I have run in Brooks shoes for many years now. Perhaps I fell prey to marketing, but I have always liked their style: the "Run Happy" and "bio mojo" campaigns I have enjoyed. That being said, I have not tried many other shoes outside the Brooks line. The past few shoes I have tried have been from their "Pure" line (most recently, the Pure Cadence 2). I decided to try the "Ghost" as winter is approaching and thought I'd try something a little more substantial.
My longest run has been 21 miles in the Ghost and had no issues with them. I tried the wide-width and find them to be quite comfortable.
Perhaps it is vanity, but I tend to prefer less "flashy" colors (the only color available in the Ghost (wide) is the red/yellow combo. I tend to like the dark/black colors in my running shoes)
Excellent Update; near perfect shoe
When I first saw these shoes they didn't appear to much of an update from the Ghost 5. The only real difference I noticed was the full length tread, and to be honest I was hoping I would like the 6's less than the 5. In my mind the 5 was the second best pair of running shoes I ever had to the Nike Vomero 5. I went through 3 pairs of the previous version and was thinking if the 6 was not an improvement I could pick up a few pairs of the 5's on sale and be happy. Well, the 6 might be the best running shoe I have worn. Lots of little settle improvements over the 5. Bottlom line: More comfort, more traction, better fit, way way better all around.

I really love this shoe because it fits so well. Having a slightly narrower foot than average, I had always run in Nikes and ASICS (which sometimes felt a touch wide) and never considered Brooks. I finally tried some on and they fit like a glove. I started out with the Defyance which is the neutral version of the Adrenalyn and it was great, but the cushioning felt a little firm on longer runs. The Ghost is a little softer, but not so soft as to lose its rebound or feel mushy. It feels soft and springy, even on 10 plus mile runs. Although the weight is average and there are not many colors to choose from, it is hands down the most comfortable shoe I've ever run in.
I did everything wrong!
I did everything wrong to prepare (or not prepare) for a marathon. I bought the Brooks Ghost 6 two days before the marathon. I put them on the morning of and went the distance with brand new shoes. Surprisingly, I had less joint pain than I expected during or after the race which I attribute to a solid neutral running shoe like these. This is the first pair of Brooks brand shoes I have owned and they have made me a customer for life. No break in time necessary. They fit well, cushion great, and look pretty decent. I have been recommending Brooks since I put my Ghost 6 through the wringer.
Best Running Shoes to date!
Prior to the Ghost 6.. I was running with Asics.. i sued their Lyte-33 series (minimalist) and the Glycerin.. i also have the PureConnect.. all these shoes were giving me sporatic shin splints on certain runs.. but the Ghost, took the pain away.. i have been logging 3 consecutive 100 mile runs each month and ran with these on my first Full Marathon in San Diego.. i survived it without any pains, injuries.. they remained fit.. and carried me through the whole run! I might need to grab another pair before these go out of production!

First and last
The Ghost 6 was the first shoe I got from the store but they put me in an 11 even though I normally wear a 10. Figured I give it a shot. After a few runs felt they were just too big. The shoe itself has a wide toe box, which I wasn't use to, and add that to being a half size big and it wasn't a good fit at all. After some research I had my mind set on shoes I wanted instead. Tried 2 different ones and was unhappy. Finally got these in my actual size and I am glad I did. Had alot of issues with shin splints and hip pain before and after a total of about 30 miles with Ghost 6 I can honestly say it has gotten much better.

Good shoe at a reasonable price
This is a very comfortable shoe. I have a rigid foot with high arches. I am a supinator, not a pronator. I am on my third pair of the Ghost 6 model. I was able to squeeze 700 miles out of each of my first pair of Ghost 5's and my first pair of Ghost 6's. I'm at about 250 miles on my second pair of Ghost 6's and bought a third pair of 6's to back them up. I can document those figures. The Ghost 6 is reliable and a good value at the price.
Really enjoying my Brooks Ghost shoes
I run between 3-6 miles about 3x a week. I have always preferred New Balance running shoes in the past, but I tried on the Brooks and was sold almost immediately. I like the size of the toe box (a little wider than NB), and I like the cushion in the sole. I seriously feel lighter on my feet when I'm running in these shoes. I highly recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a light, comfortable, neutral sole.
Comfortable from the first run
Toe boxes have been a problem for me with many shoes, especially on the big toe side of my right foot. These were comfortable from the first run. I'm 182# now (far from the 148# when I could IM under 10 hours), and at that weight the cushioning is just a bit too soft, but still very good. After one workout they became my #1 pair of training and racing shoes. I did a half IM in them a week after the purchase with no issues.
Great distance shoe
I'm a larger runner 6'2 and go about 215lbs. This shoe is holding up very well so far and I'm enjoying the cushioning during my long runs. (10 plus miles). I do regular 1/2 marathons along with 10 and 15K races. It's nice to see something offered for larger runners that you can also get in a wide width! 12EE is my shoe size! I run regularly in Nike Structures and this is a nice change up shoe. Good work Brooks!
Luv this shoe!
I was looking for a lighter weight shoe for long runs and I found a great shoe. The weight of this shoe is good for tempo runs as well. I ran 13 miles out of the box and the shoes were awesome. Great support with a midsole that does a great job with shock absorption. Upper is breathable and the shoe is very comfortable. Generally wear a size 10 running shoe and sized down a half size.
Cougar fan Ironman
I purchased these shoes to replace the pair I had worn out from half marathon training. I used this pair to finish off the last half of my training (averaging 25-30mi/wk). These shoes have been fantastic! They give plenty of cushioning and support without feeling heavy like clogs. I will definitely get another pair when I wear these out!
Pace walk on 2 inches of snow..."WOW"
It was a toss between Brooks Ghost 6 or Glycerin. Tried both on and choice was based on price differential of close to $50 Ghost was more reasonable!!
I jog in snow, pace walk in snow.. Ghost firmly on the ground with grips... It is so effortlessly with everything I do.. It is just a great running shoes for me.
The best runing shoes!
I've tried Asics Gel Lytes..(2 versions) their Asics Cumulus.. Brooks PureConnect (both versions).. then i found the Ghost 6.. they were the perfect running shoes for me.. the cushioning.. the absence of shin splints... knee pains.. it' slike running on clouds.. I love them so much that i bought a second pair..

I run, therefore I ache.
Perhaps I should wait to review this, but, here goes. The Ghost 6s are a better design than the Ghost 4. The shoe is one of those rare items that feel great out of the box. In fact, even on my first run with the Ghost 6, I noticed I had gone miles without thinking about my shoes. Isn't that the litmus test of a good shoe?

My personal favorite shoe is the Pure Flow 2. However, I needed a more robust shoe for long runs. They fit perfect right out of the box and ran a 7 mile run with absolutely no complaints. They are slightly heavier than the Pure Flow but didn't think this shoe was heavy at all. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this shoe.
Great Neutral Shoe
Yesterday was my first run in my new Ghost 6 and they were great! Had a pair of Ghost 4 and had great luck with them. Had a couple pair of other shoes in between that were just OK, so decided to try a pair Ghost again. Glad I did. Highly recomend them for a neutral runner. Nice cusioning.
My sixth pair of Ghosts in two years.
I'm a heavy, 190 lbs, runner training year round at the gym on the treadmill, on the road and on the trail. I also include crossing training on the bike, elliptical and spinning classes. I run in a dozen 5ks to 1/2 marathons during the year. All this with one shoe, Brook Ghost. Be nice to your feet.
I've never been happier with a pair of running shoes. It took me a while to find the right pair. I run 20-25 miles a week. Being comfortable has really made my running more consistent. I had tried Mizuno Wave Riders but the plastic arch support was so unforgiving I could barely walk after running. I also tried various minimal shoes.
My favorite shoes!
I use the 6 as my daily runner. I own two pair and alternate days. I was a big fan of the 5 and worried that the 6 would not be as good of a shoe for me. I was not disappointed and actually more pleased with the 6. The color choice on the 6 is nice too.
This is a great shoe
I have been training in these shoes for a marathon for several months, and I really enjoy the fit/feel. The 2E size is exactly what I needed for my wide foot. These shoes do tend to wear out pretty quickly, after about 300 miles. Still worth it for the comfort though.

Ghost 6 are awome shoes highly recommend
I purchased the Ghost 6 shoes before going on vacation. During our vacation we did alot of hicking on paved trails as well as natural trails. At the end of the day my feet still felt good. The shoes have great support side to side as well as throughout your stride.

Good comfortable running shoes
I use these shoes to run on pavement as well as other cardio exercises. These shoes have held up well and are very comfortable. I also have inserts in them as well for extra support. I used to have right knee pain I no longer experience that anymore.
This is a great shoe. I was a huge fan of Ghost 5 and was excited to see the updates made to the Ghost 6. Brooks did not fail to deliver. This shoe was a perfect transition. The color is great, the fit is great and it feels so good on my foot.
An update on a favorite
Great support for half marathon training and races.
Ghost 6 was tighter along upper arch and forefoot than Ghost 5 in same size and width.
Used these for first run after injuring back and 3.5 miles felt like a walk in the park.
Great fit, support, and performance!
I run every other day (about 20 miles per week) and have been running in these shoes for the last 2 weeks. They're lightweight, stable, and provide excellent support. I'm very satisfied with their performance so far.
