At first I had to return the shoes secondary to a manufacture stitching issue, roadrunner made that problem run smoothly. Then I took the shoes on some coral rock trails in Florida, then to California, big sur and Yosemite trails so they were tested. The shoes worked very well on all the trails. The best part was the confidence I had that I would not slip going down hill. The slight heaviness is really not an issue... You actually need it on some trails. At first I was not sure if a trail shoe would make that much of a difference, they do!

I actually returned this product as I thought it could be used on rugged hiking trails and I'd say it's more of a gravel/well groomed trail running shoe. There just isn't quite enough stability to take rugged terrain. I run in the smoky mountains so decently rocky trail and a lot of up and down. The tread is good for gripping but other than that, this is essentially a road running shoe. I also found the shoe to be a very narrow and long fit... Which I've seen with Brooks before. I can see someone who does light trail running enjoying these but if you are taking on tough terrain, if go for something with a little more stability.

Superb all around trail shoe. Live in central New York and spend the majority of my miles on trails. The shoe handles anything thrown at it plus adding 3/8" screws to the soles makes snow and ice running an easy endeavor.

Purchased these shoes to switch from treadmill to trail running. Felt an instant difference between the shoes I walked in with and these. Much more comfort and support. So far I have run 3 trails. 1 asphalt and 2 dirt/rocky. The shoes have performed admirably, especially in last weeks snow coating. Brooks has a customer for life

I am 5'10", weigh 150lbs, and am an avid runner and all around athlete. I run short and middle distance trails to reduce wear and tear, and train at a 5-6 minute mile pace. 2014 was a tough year for me, I think my body was going through some changes, and a few of my favorite manufacturers either changed or discontinued models, so I really struggled to find a good shoe.

After over 6 months of bouncing around different trail shoes trying to find one that gives me the perfect blend of cushion, stability, light weight, traction, and a reasonably wide toe box, I came up short. I found several shoes that had almost everything I needed but always seemed to fall short in one area or the other. Out of sheer frustration I decided to come back home to Brooks - I left Brooks almost 4 years ago after the Cascadias diverged from their initial great start. I read the specs and reviews on the 9 - all seemed well and I decided I couldn't do any worse.

Well, I was more than pleasantly surprised, I was truly pleased and even more - relieved - a pair of trail shoes I can live with! I gave the shoes 5 stars. They are not revolutionary, they are not technological wonders, they aren't exciting or game changing - but they are everything I have been struggling to find in a solid workhorse trail shoe and trainer. They are exceptionally comfortable all around, plenty of room in the toe box without being sloppy, low enough around the ankles not to chaff my ankle bones, have great cushion without being spongy or losing responsiveness/feel but also offer tremendous stability, are reasonably light weight, have a great tread that is perfect for most trails but will also handle stretches of pavement, and they dry quickly. I am using the factory insoles. They fit true to size and are extremely comfortable. I've had them about 3 weeks now and have put enough miles on them to know I have a good, solid, no-bling trail shoe. Of course, I'm sure Brooks will discontinue them, so I will buy another pair and cross my fingers that the next Cascadia stays true to these roots - this is a pure Cascadia built for trail runners, thank you Brooks!

My first pair of running shoes I didn't buy just because of the look. That was a bonus with these shoes. They are very comfortable and I enjoy running with them. Would definitely consider this brand and line again, over my previous Nike. Only drawback so far is that they don't breathe well. I do recommend them though.

I've ran with Brooks for awhile. The cascadia does not disappoint! I've ran loads of miles with the two pair I've owned and they take it all. First pair trained for and ran my first 50K. My second pair did the same in the Ashland SOB 50K. If you want a durable and nice feeling trail shoe then this is it! I would not recommend this shoe for road running.

I was looking for a shoe to replace a trail shoe favorite that was phased out (new balance 876)I think I have found the replacement. I still have to put some long miles on it yet but so far so good.

I bought these to run the Tough Mudder NC. My gf bought the women's version for the Antarctica Marathon back in March which had the most difficult, uneven, muddy terraine she'd ever experienced, and highly recommended them. We both wore these shoes through the difficult obstacles the TM is known for and they provided great comfort & stability on the uneven terrain: they stayed on tight through Mud Mile, when we were knee deep in thick mud and the suction it created felt like our legs would pull out but the shoes stayed on! Great traction on Everest and cliffhanger. They performed very well and were comfortable. If you're looking for a great pair of trail running/ mud run race shoes, you can't go wrong with these!

I have for years only worn Brooks and liked all of them. I will keep this pair and use them, but they are not the best product that Brooks has made. Not enough cushioning in the heel.

The Cascadia 9 follows in the tradition set by the 5's for rugged trail use with high levels of protection and support. The 6,7 and 8 versions were mushy shoes better suited for flat dirt roads. The 9's are true trail shoes that are supportive, have a soft heal strike for the occasional hard surface and good toe flex for speed if you want it. Very comfortable and confidence inspiring on some tricky terrain. Note to Brooks trail shoe team, you deserve a bonus.

My first pair of Cascadia 8 fit perfect. The 9 seems a little bit bigger. It has a new design. Note on colors order the black and red. I had to send back my orange/ yellow. My girlfriend said they look like Ronald McDonald shoes and when I pulled up a photo of Ronald she was right. Same colors. Great shoe , will be a fan for a long time.

I bought these and have only run a 6 miler and a 3 miler in them thus far. They are slightly narrow through the forefoot, and the stitching attaching the toe protection is abrasive in the shoe. It hits at just the wrong spot on the medial side of my right foot at the MTP joint line. It caused a blister after only the first 6 mile run.

The remainder of the shoe has a very soft comfortable inside with sufficient padding around the heel. I am hoping to break in the shoe due to only one hot spot but am doubtful at this time.
