The best shoe I've ever owned

I came to these shoes after many others. I won't bore you with the list. I have had problem feet all of my life and as I have aged also low back pain. I found that a cushioned shoe definitely helped the back pain. I am a really bad supinator and most shoes do not address or even adapt for that. I wear custom orthotics that have helped greatly with keeping my foot straight and helping all surfaces bear my weight (I'm 5'2" weigh 116) instead of just the outer edges. That said, I still struggled to find shoes that did what they promised. In October I got my first pair of Gycerine 12's. I took them on a trip to the UK where my husband and I average walking 8-15 miles a day. I took my old Nike's as a back-up. I never even unpacked the Nikes! For the first time in my life my feet did not ache at the end of the day. Not even a little! When I returned home, I quickly bought a second pair. I wear them every day. I walk about 5-7 miles a day on pavement and grass. They have held up very well and still look nearly brand new. I find that they run very slightly wider than the Nike's (which is a good thing). They have a generous toe box which even with my thickish orthotics, do not crimp or pinch my toes. I wore a size 6M in Nike's and I wear the same size in these. They are pricey but you only get one set of feet. You owe it to yourself to take good care of them. Worth every penny!

Nothing else comes close!

I am a supinator with wide width feet, high arches, and a mid-foot strike. I run 30 - 40 miles a week. I have run several half marathons in these shoes and am currently training for a full marathon in them. These are the only shoes I have ever run in that don't keep me painfully aware of how wide my left foot is. Prior to getting them I developed a pinched nerve in my foot due to shoes being just a bit too tight over high mileage. I don't have any pain when running in these shoes. They have good cushion, but still feel stable. They accommodate wide width, but don't feel loose. I've had people tell me that Brooks wear out quickly; but I have not found this to be the case with these shoes. The soles look great after two months of running in them. They are durable enough to train in, and light enough to race in. I tried Saucony ISO's when they came out to compare. For me, they did not come close to the comfort of these shoes. Nothing specific to say about arch, as I wear RoadRunner customer insoles, which really accommodate for high arches. I highly recommend these shoes.

Great shoes

I have neutral feet with high arches, wide toes and narrow heels and was searching for a comfortable shoe to replace my Nike Pegasus (Nike changed design and new Pegasus didn't fit my foot any more). I also need lots of cushioning and run between 30 to 40 miles in a week-mostly on the road, but sometimes trails. I tried many shoes including styles of Asics, Hoka One One, and New Balance, but always my pinky toe was squeezed or the fit was off or I felt pain during and after. I ordered the Brooks Glycerin 12 and from the very first time I tried them on, it was total relief and comfort. I am so impressed! Really a perfect balance between cushy and bounce and my feet feel great. I ran 6 miles straight out of the box and felt wonderful the whole time and after. I did have to order a 1/2 size up from what I usually order, but it wasn't crazy big like it sometimes is to order a 1/2 size up. The laces are really long so you can go loose or tight easily...very versatile design-thanks, Brooks! I really really love this shoe. It might be the perfect shoe for me.

No More Nike for me!

I have worn Nike's for as long as I can remember. But no more. I walk 5-10 miles a day for fitness. I was looking for a neutral shoe. I am a severe under- pronator. High arches just make it worse rolling my foot even more to the outside. These are stabilizing without adding to that outward roll. They are very "orthotic-friendly". My custom orthotics slip in nicely because of the deep toe box. All other shoes I've tried with my orthotics crush my foot against the top of the shoe. These shoes feel slightly wider (maybe because my feet aren't crushed) giving my foot a more comfortable seat. And the cushioning is perfect. I was sure I would just have to live with painful feet forever. I'm in heaven! They are a little pricey, but worth every penny. You only get one set of feet. Take good care of them. And this is one of best ways you can.

Brooks you nailed it!

This shoe is worn to walk/run an average 12mi per week. I wear an orthotic posted for slight pronation. Low volume foot with narrow heel and wide forefoot. Vast improvement over Glycerin 11. The slight flare at the heel has been reduced while still maintaining a solid landing without scuffing the rubber on the heal first which only wears out. The landing is comfortable with notably increased cushioning along the entire stride from heel to toe without being squishy. The foot is well supported and tracks nicely with improved outer sole that seems to allow for a smoother less tiring gait. The shoes upper material has changed to create a more glove like fit around the foot and of note has improved water resistance. I've had the shoe about 3wks now so can not comment on how well the outer sole will hold up. I feel for the price paid for the Glycerin 11 tread wore out much too quickly. Brooks do not loose the mold on this one -you nailed it!

Great Walking Shoe

A Road Runner sales person recommended Brooks to me for the first time over a year ago and they worked out fine. Time for some new shoes and tried on a pair of Brooks and Nikes, then again the sales person steered me to a more proper shoe for me, Brooks Glycerin 12, and they are awesome. They add a slight bounce to my step. Bought my regular size and they fit very nicely on my semi wide and very flat feet. Good stability, no pinching on my toes, and I don't feel pressure on my heels. My opinion of this shoe after a month of wear is that they are great. I use them mostly for pavement walking (3-6 miles a day) but also exercising. I am currently looking for them in Ombre, which is no longer available here in my size.

Walking on a cloud

I trained to walk the Detroit Free Press half marathon in the Brooks Glycerin 12 for 4 mons. A friend reminded me I probably needed a new pair prior to race day. My order was quickly filled by Road Runner Sports. The new pair fit perfectly and comfortably. I successfully walked and ran the half marathon. I felt great during the walk and after. This shoe was my secret weapon. I have a nerve condition in my left foot. The Glycerin 12 cushioned perfectly to ease any discomfort and reduce numbness in the foot. I love the navy blue as it looks good with jeans. I can't think of one thing I do not like about the shoe. Thanks to Brooks and to Road Runner for fitting me properly.

In love

I am a neutral, very heavy runner with medium-high arches, so I need a shoe that offers a lot of support both overall and to my arch. However, I also don't like feeling like I have on a lot of shoe. In other shoes (eg, Nimbus, Ride, anything Hokoa) I felt like the shoe was sort of a big, padded, inflexible box around my foot. Nothing felt natural, and my feet just felt exhausted working so hard inside their padded box. The 12s give my feet/stride a great, natural feel while still feeling cushioned. To me they don't feel like a lot of shoe (YMMV), and I find them very comfortable for running even in 95+ heat. I do wish there were more colors for the wides. I love my shoes to be gloriously tacky, and the wised not being really only available in the more plain color schemes makes me sad.

Comfortable shoe

I had been wearing stability shoes for years. I wear orthotics and have been loyal to New Balance. I saw the Shoe Dog and it was determined that with my orthotics, I could wear a neutral shoe. I am also a heavier runner. The sales person brought out the Brooks Glycerin and I was skeptical. I tried them on and immediately felt the rocking motion and ran on the treadmill in the store. I loved them from the get go (Sorry New Balance). I have been wearing them for 3 months. I run 2-6 miles 3-4 times a week. I run on roads and dirt trails. I have had no pain from my neuromas since running in these shoes. They accommodate my orthotics, never feel like they are slipping or too wide. They hug my feet and I like the colors.

sore foot

I had a pair of Glycerin 10's and loved them! I was excited about the arrival of the new Glycerin's 12's. I am sad to report that they fitt very wide, much wider than the 10's, the length was the same as the 10's. They also didn't feel as cushioned as the 10's and after I wore them a couple of times I noticed that the bone on the outside of foot was sore. I had never had that before, it may have been caused by the need to lace them so tightly because of the width. I ordered a standard B width and confirmed it on both shoes and the box. I was disappointed with the wide fit, loved the colors of the cactus flower and sad that I had to return.

Doesn't work for me...

I was so excited for the new Glycerin, however these did not live up to my expectations. I have been running in Glycerins for 2 years now, and thought I had found my 'sole'mate. Yet, these felt flat and hard compared with both the 10s (2 pair) and 11s (3 pair) that I totally adored. After 2 miles these were giving me problems, and I ended my run with burning soles and an aggravated right heel. As usual, I ordered 1/2 size up to get the 8B. The length felt fine, but these felt much tighter around the foot. I even tried a different way of lacing them to no avail. I returned them, luckily, and am now searching for a new favorite shoe.

Great Update!

Using these to train for a marathon. I ran my half marathon in the ghosts so I thought I'd give the Glycerin a try. I didn't like the 11's but these are waaaay different! Very comfortable, cushioned ride for us slightly heavier gals!! Good space in the toe box and hugs in all the right places. Right now I'm out with an injury and can't wait to get back out there with these amazing shoes! The bottoms are much more durable than the Ghost. If you are training for a long distance race or just like to run 20+ miles a week, I recommend these!

I would definitely buy again and again

I saw the glycerin 12 in Houston TX in a store window and fell in love with them. Boy did they ever catch my eye. Looked for them online and found Roadrunner. Price was less than the Houston store service was absolutely great they answered all my questions very knowledgeable about their product. I'm definitely going to buy from Roadrunner again I already have my eyes on a pair. . Satisfied customer . Sonya F

Great fit and support

I love this shoe! I am ho longer able to run, but I do walk, work out at the gym and am active. I have to wear a shoe like this daily for support due to major physical problems with my feet. It is extremely difficult to find a shoe that supports my foot properly and feels comfortable. I am a long time Glycerine fan, but some years the model is changed and doesn't work. This model is great~ I will buy more and hope Brooks does not change the shoe next year.

What happened to these shoes?

I have used Brooks Glycerins for years including qualifying for, training for and running Boston for the last 2 years. Training for Boston again and my 3 pairs of Glycerin 11 have just about worn out so I purchased a Glycerin 12. Something is terribly different with these shoes. Even short runs make both my knees hurt. Twice I went back to my 11's that are still in okay shape then back to the 12's for a short run - same thing...my knees hurt. I am so disappointed. Since I have a 90 day trial period I am returning these shoes. The last thing I need is knee problems in the middle of training.

Best shoe ever!

This shoe was recommended after I completed the initial evaluation of my gate. I was found to have high arches and normal pronation. I added the custom orthotics to these shoes and they have become the best running shoes I have ever had. I completed a 1/2 marathon in them recently with no foot pain. My lateral knee pain resolved after getting rid of my shoes that protected for over protation when I did not have a pronation problem. The custom fit at roadrunner was just what I needed.

Top of line cushioning!

The Glycerin 12 feels great on your foot, it hugs your foot but is not tight. Lots of room for toes to spread out. Great cushioning, I am an overweight walker that does not pronate, I slightly supinate and I am walking for 45-60 minutes a day, completely pain free. I love these shoes so much I bought 2 pairs. I also wear the Brooks Ghost. With all Brooks shoes I have to size up 1/2 size. I am also very pleased that the wide sizes are not neon blue this year. Thanks Brooks.

love my new kicks!

Love these shoes! I'm a 11.5 wide (D) and these are awesome and look nice! I'm in a running club even though I'm a beginner runner I love these- my old running shoes had no comparison. These are incredible! I had a shin splint and I think my old shoes contributed to that these give so much good support and felt so much better after wearing these! they are lightweight and I love love love them- worth every penny!

I'm finally pain-free

I run on roads and treadmills about 15-20 miles a week and have weird foot issues that have caused me a great deal of pain almost every day. High arches and Morton's toes are the two big ones, but I've had recurring bouts of metatarsalagia as well. Brooks Glycerin 12 with custom Road Runner insoles are the first and only running shoes that have worked perfectly for me. I'm completely thrilled with the product and literally almost wept with joy during my first pain-free run in them.

Great stability in a neutral shoe

So far I have run on roads, grass and trail. I feel very stable in this shoe, and I just moved from stability to neutral shoes for the first time. It has great traction, and is light. I also have narrow feet, but didn't need to order this in narrow; the regular width fits my feet really well. I do wish it was slightly more cushioned, but my feet don't hurt- I think I'm just used to new shows having a bit more of that "pillow" feel.

LOVE this shoe but color not as pictured

I LOVE the Glycerin 12. I have currently worn out the pair I have so I decided to buy another pair just in a different color - the navy/raspberry. Online the raspberry color looks to be a coral/red so you can imagine my surprise when I opened the box to see what I thought would be raspberry (as pictured online) was actually bright PINK! The color is absolutely nothing like pictured on the website. If you like pink you'll love them, unfortunately pink is definitely not my thing so back they go :-(

Glycerin shoes are worth the cost

Awesome shoes. I have the glycerin 11 shoes, and I love them. So I knew I was going to buy the glycerin 12 shoes as soon as I needed new ones. Only downfall I can think of, is my little toes started to wear through the mesh of the glycerin 11's and created holes. I bought them only 4 months ago. However they probably have 800-1000 miles of wear in that amount of time. I would definitely say it is worth the cost.

I run 25-30 miles per week. I have been running in Saucony Triumphs forever. The last update Saucony made to its Triumph just did not work well for me so I decided to give these Brooks a try. I will never go back. These shoes are perfect! Great cushioning, shoe hugs the foot, tongue stays in place, lightweight and so comfortable to run in. The cushioning in these shoes is amazing. Kudos to Brooks on designing what very well may be THE perfect running shoe!

Finally sprung for good running shoes!

These shoes are comfy and stay tied! The laces are spongy and feel sturdy. They feel great and are lightweight. Note to self, I did spring for the custom insoles (an additional $72!!), but this is my feet! I don't want issues down the road by wearing cheap shoes. These would be great without the insoles too. They are slightly reflective, but they have pink ones that are made to be reflective. Great shoe!!

Finally able to run consistently

This shoe (and the others of the same model I've worn out before it) have allowed me to become a consistent, long term runner. Before I found these, I was always getting overuse/impact injuries. I haven't significantly changed my gait, so it must be the shoes! I have a narrow heel and a normal to wide forefoot--these fit well. I also have a big toe that curls upward and need a tall toe box. These have that--so holes in my socks!

Pacifica, CA

Durable and comfortable.

I like the new design of the 12, but know the heel is less wide than the 11 so I have found it a little less stable. If you are prone to ankle injuries I would not recommend. I did find that the new heel design does not wear down as much as the 11, so it has been more durable for me as a heel striker. This is my second pair of the 12s and I would recommend for overall comfort, durability, and performance.

I'll be ordering another pair!

I had recently developed knee problems, which I attributed in part to a new pair of running shoes (different brand). After reading the reviews for the Brooks Glycerin 12, I decided to give it a shot. My knees no longer hurt and there is adequate arch support. Currently, my walking/running routine involves primarily the treadmill. I'm anxious to see how the shoes hold up on the road.

Lincoln, NE

Great for Walkers too!

I have a narrow foot but am totally comfortable in the 7.5M. Was using New Balance for years but because of a hip problem my chiropractor suggested a different shoe. The first pair I purchased from a local store that understood my problem. The second I ordered from you. I use them for working out and hill walking. Very happy! PS: I am a very senior citizen

Piedmont, CA

Awesome, I will purchase this shoe again

Running the streets I was avoiding streets due to feeling surface material through my shoes. The Glycerine 12 are so comfortable got them 1 day prior to 1/2 marathon went ahead and ran in them. I was extremely pleased with how comfortable they were without breaking them it. Road surfaces are no longer a issue, I highly recommend them to my friends that are neutral.

Pacific WA

Awesome shoes

Went to my running store for a fitting and found out my foot had gone down a size; tried several pairs of shoes, but when I put on the Glycerin it felt like going from a Ford Pinto to a Lexus--very nice feel, cushioned, comfortable. I run/walk about 20-25 miles per week and absolutely love these. Just bought another pair in the very cool purple. Super shoes!
