Brooks Adrenaline GTS 5:

Brooks progressive stability technology, incredible flexibility, outstanding fit and HydroFLow. cushioning make the new Adrenaline the most versatile performance running shoe on the planet. Featuring progressive posting for ultra-smooth transitions through the gait cycle, this shoe gives a whole new meaning to the term "fluid motion".
  • Heel and Forefoot HydroFlow.: The best cushioning system in footwear. It absorbs shock, stabilizes the foot and returns energy back to the foot, stride after stride.
  • Full-length S-257 Midsole: Exclusive midsole compound formulated to decrease breakdown by 15% while providing excellent energy return and cushioning on every stride.
  • Progressive Diagonal Rollbar (PDRB): Our dual-density S-257 post is biomechanically engineered to allow for progressive pronation control as the foot rolls inward and creates a smoother transition from the midstance phase into the propulsion phase.
  • HPR: High-density carbon rubber in the heel for increased traction and outsole durability.
  • Dual Density DRB Accel: High-density molded TPU engineered into the midfoot for torsional stability. A softer density is placed on the lateral for a smooth ride and a firmer density is placed on the medial for added stability.
  • Engineered Stable-Pod Configuration: Midsole and outsole components are engineered to set the foot in an efficient, balanced position from heel strike to toe-off, offering maximum stability and responsiveness.
  • S-257 Cushsole: Durable and energy efficient midsole compound utilized as an insole board for even more cushioning and flexibility.
  • Internal Support Saddle: Internal arch wrap provides added upper support through the midfoot for a glove-like fit.

After experiencing blisters and sore feet, I went to a running store where they analyzed my foot structure and running style to determine my problem, and then offered several different shoes that they suggested would make a difference. I chose Brooks and have now been wearing this shoe almost exclusively for 3 1/2 years. Contrary to what some reviewers have said, I've found that Brooks holds up a fair amount longer than other shoes I've worn -- even up to 200 miles more. They're comfortable, not too heavy and give my feet a little spring. I would just recommend that you never buy a shoe that you haven't tried on and run in before (go to a retailer with a treadmill). Then you can buy shoes online. This is my favorite shoe but it may not be right for you.

Been running for 15 years, 20 to 50 miles a week, depending on weather. Light frame with low arch. Like cushioning and stability. Have tried many brands through the years and was last devoted to Saucony. Tried Adrenaline GTS 5 for first time several months ago and love them. At first felt a little less cushioned than expected, but the stability and support compensate for this and lead to a better run overall. Am about to order a few more pairs before they phase out to the GTS 6.

I bought these to train for Grandmas marathon 2005. I ran alot of miles in them. I had problems with My ITB but I don't know if these shoes were the cause or if I just over trained. The shoes were comfortable for the most part. I think I'll try a different shoe this year. Any suggestions?

At first I wasn't sure I would like these. After wearing them for the first time I found out how great they are. They are very soft and light giving a perfect ride. I had been having some knee and hip pain running in my previous pair of Nike Shox. These fixed it immediatley. I recommend these to anyone.

New to the sport I bought these at the reccomendation of my local shop. I am a big guy 6'3 240lbs and these are fantastic shoes. No pain at all whn running in these. Ive run several 10ks and am planning on a half and full marathon in the next 3 months. I feel confident these shoes will help me reach my goals!

Mon, September 26,2005:
Best running shoe I have ever worn. I find they do break down on me after 350 miles but or worth the money. I hope the 6 is as good as the 5 but I know how these companies always mess with a good thing. Guess that's why I have been thru Asics, Mizuno, and on to Brooks over the last 10 years. Most of their updates are detrimental to the series.

I have run in this shoe for two and a half years. I ordered my 7th pair today. I have never had a blister or even a rub. I get about 450 miles per pair. I won't buy anything else. I hope the GTS-6 is as good.

After being in Asics 2080 for two years, I switched to these per the advice of my local running store. From the very first run in them, they have caused muscle strain in my calves and shins. I hate these shoes and can't wait to buy new ones!

After spending years in Saucony and loving them, I am a true Brooks shoes fan. These shoes are the best running shoes I've ever had! I've had them for a month and have had no problems with my knees or feet. My runs are wonderful and my distance and times are better than ever. I'll be buying a pair to keep in the closet for when these retire!

Before buying these shoes I was running in ASICS Cumulus VI shoes and was having horrible problems with medial shin splints. A week or so after switching to these Brook Adrenaline's my problems were gone.

Mon, August 22,2005:
IMHO, the best shoe I have ever owned and I have tried a lot in the past 2 years. This is my first pair of Brooks and I am in love. They are light for the amount of stability and cushion they offer. They do this by keeping the top/fabric part of the shoe very light. This leads to a lukewarm first impression I think. When you first slip they on they do not feel as comfy or luxurious as other brands . . . but when you wear them - run in them, they are extremely comfy and they perform great for me. Enough cushion, but not to much. BTW - I think these are MUCH better than the Trance.

Awesome cushioning shoes! This is a great shoe! For the first 6 months of this year I was unable to run due to a running injury I was recovering from, a stress-fractured tibia. When I went to the running store to purchase new running shoes for my first steps back onto the asphalt, these were the cushioning shoes they recommended. Although I had been an Asics believer, marathon after marathon, now I have switched to Brooks. I am looking to buy my alternate pair now.

Wed, August 03,2005:
As a former runner returning tot he sport, I really had no idea of the type of shoe I needed. In my former running days, true cushioned runners were what I needed, but that wasn't working out for me when I returned to running. I kept having knee pain and I was almost ready to give up (again). I visited a running store and the owner suggest these shoes. Although a departure from what I'm used to, they worked great. I felt they didn't change my running stride and the helped immensely with the knee issues. The one issue I have is when I do my warm up/cool down walks; these shoes are not nearly as comfortable then as other shoes. All in all, a pretty good shoe.

In comparison to the Asics GT-2100, looser mid foot, wider toe box, more stable, less cushioned, lower profile(closer to the ground)

Tue, July 19,2005:
A revelation! I suffered through horrible foot problems earlier in the year due to badly fitting shoes. Brooks stocked this wonderful shoe in a 13EEEE size, which I ordered. Even though I have been running mountain marathons and endurace runs, NO MORE foot problems. I used this shoe also on several 10K races, the last of which I got my PB time for the year. The Adrenaline is remarkably soft. Close to a perfect shoe, though the souls did wear out more quickly then expected- though I suppose my mountain running was the main culprit. I have happily purchased my second pair...

5'4, 125# female who loves her Brooks Adrenaline. My previous pair was the Glycerine model, but I didn't like how the newest version felt so I tried on other styles. The Adrenaline fits like a glove and provides the perfect support and cushion for me as I run. No aches, no pains, and I'm running farther and easier than ever before.

These shoes were the only thing that kept me going in my last marathon. No knee pain, no foot pain, I think it may be the perfect shoe for asphalt runners. Snug in the heal cup and plenty of room in the toe box. Very airy, light and flexible.

I work at a speciality running store and run 50-70 miles a week and I swear by the Brooks Adrenaline. If you overpronate a moderate-almost severe amount and enjoy a firm durable cushion the Brook Adrenaline is an amazing shoe.

Hi, I am 5'8'' 170lbs. These shoes are awesome. Its very comfortable and light. I've been using brooks shoes for all my training, but for some reason I switched to NB this year, and that was a big mistake. The NB(755brand) was giving me foot pain and knee pain. As soon as I made the switch to GTS 5, all the pain is gone. These shoes have made running fun again.

I have purchased 4 or 5 pairs of these over the years. I'm 5'8", 200 lbs and I get 400-500 miles out of each pair. There is literally no break in period and I've used these for marathons, triathlons, and all training runs. Never had a major foot issue while training in these. I'd recommend these to anyone needing a wide toe box. I've traditionally went up a 1/2 size, but I going to try going up a full size this time.

JUST BOUGHT MY THIRD PAIR. THIS IS THE BEST FITTING SHOE FOR MY CURVED FOOT. THE TOEBOX IS WIDE AND THE HEEL FIT SLIM. I GO 1 FULL SIZE BIGGER TO ACCOMODATE MY INSERTS. I LOVE THE FIRM RESPONSIVE CUSHIONING FOR THE 300 MILES THEY LAST ME. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ADRENALINE 6 DUE OUT IN SEPTEMBER.

I'm a 6', 185 lbs. runner with mild overpronation. After using many different shoes by many different companies, I have finally found the two shoes that work best in my rotation, the Adrenaline GTS 5 and the Asics 2100. I have had knee problems for years and the Adrenaline and 2100 are the only shoes that I can run in pain free.

well ive been running for 2 years XC and track (break in the middle for swimming) and im about 105 lbs. and 5'4" and i just got these shoes and they've been feeling great. the wide midsole help correct my foot's inner rollover on the tail end of my kick and has great cushioning and support, maybe a little less than the asics gel 2100 but its a sacrifice for the wider midsole. i hope it proves to be a great trainer as i have heard from other reviews.

I am a 200 lb 5ft 10 male, 40 years old. I started training again after a couple of years. The shoes give excellent support and good cushioning. No sore knees or feet after two weeks of training every other day for about 3 miles/run.

I am a relatively new runner...4'11" 120 lb female with a bad back and knees...these shoes fit me great. I always have a problem with too wide a heel or too narrow a toe box, but these are just right. These shoes provided me with great support and in response I have been able to increase the length of my runs. Perfect.

I am 6'2" and use a size 12D, Universal platform. These were recommended by a running Doctor following a foot exam. Excellent shoe. Very confortable! Right out of the box ran a 5k with the best heel to sole transition, support, and light to boot. They felt like they were made for me. All feet are not created equal, these shoes fit me perfectly.

I'm a 5'10" 200lb, 25 miles a week, runner who found these shoes pretty comfortable, yet at times caused some numbness in my feet. I don't experience the numbness when I run in my NB's or Saucony's so there is something about this shoot that fits my foot wierd. It is a comfortable shoe otherwise.

Fantastic shoe! Feels as though it were designed specifically for my foot and running style, which is a relief after stumbling in the dark for awhile with different brands/styles. Also, for me, didn't require any break-in. Right out of the box felt perfect.

Mon, February 14,2005:
I was looking for a shoe to replace the Nike Span Triax. The Shox 2:45 was not it. I decided to try Brooks. I like the fit of the shoe. I'm 6-00, 175lbs., have a low arch, but run neutral. Overall, these shoes are pretty good. They have just the right amount of stability. However, I wish they had a little more cushion. I miss the springiness of the Nike Span Triax. For short runs, these are good. However, I did a 30k, and my feet were feeling dead. I need to find a more cushioned shoe to rotate with these for long runs. Any suggestions?

Thu, February 10,2005:
Great fitting shoe. I have a hard time finding shoes that don't have heel slippage. I'm 6'2, 200 lbs and wear 13 B shoes and am on my third pair. I'm getting about 250 miles per pair--lighter runners should get a bit more. The only complaint I have is the forefoot cushioning. A little more would be nice for longer runs.

Good shoe. Have ran in Asics GT's and Saucony Hurricane 5's. These are good but no match for the Hurricanes.
