Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

6'1" 278lbs. wearing size 11-4E width shoes. Thank God they come in wide! I am a slow runner/jogger. I have been batting with Plantar Facitis for a few months. I wore out my last pair of my old faithful Asics MC's that are not available anymore - don't you hate they stop making the reliable shoes! Anyway, I purchased these online and they are fantastic. They give the right balance been support and cushioning for my feet. I used them at the gym on the elipitical stepper, on the treadmill, and when walking outdoors on both paved and unpaved trails up some pretty steep inclines. They are an excellent shoe if you are battling with plantar problems. When they go on sale I am going to stock up. Because of larger frame and beefy bones I go through shoes every 6 months. The support just goes flat. That is why I never wear Nike. They go flat in one month of light wear. However, these Brooks Beast 9's have been just what the doctor ordered!

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I have been running marathons in the brooks beasts for the past 18 months. they are the only shoe that I can wear when I run. I am an over-pronater with flat feet so the extra control really helps. the only problem that I have with them is the back of the heel wears out on me after about 7 marathons. I can usually get about 6-7 marathons per pair then I turn them in to walkers.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I am in my sixtys and have been running all my life. I have worn just about every running shoe under the sun. Last year I bought the beast #9 motion control shoe. I have had my share of foot problems over the last 3 years and tried many running shoes but none has compared to the Beast. My feet are now holding up after every race, and I am sold on the best running shoe ever made. Thank you Brooks for looking out for us older guys. I plan on running with these shoes in the next Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

I am 5'10", 160 lb, sz 13, always runner, 15-20 mi./week now. Beast9 has good cush & MC, but may not cure my mild a.m. heel pain. It stopped getting worse, tho. Nike Air Max been my fav since intro, but today's thinner air bladders easily punctured by thorns. Tried many other shoes, wasted big $.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

2 pairs of this model of beast used for 2 marathons, 2 half marathons. 6 ft, 152 lb overpronator. I use blue superfeet. Snug fit; got my second pair in 2E. Upper fit/support of Addiction superior to me. Beast has more heavy duty midsole though and dissipates shock well even for someone of lighter weight. Comparing this shoe to the Kayano is foolish as it has a completely different shape of last. If the Kayano fits the shape of your foot well, stick with it! It's a great shoe but I certainly can't wear it.

6'3" 215 lbs, neutral runner. I have been wearing the Beast for 5-6 years. I have run a couple of marathons in this model and am buying another pair. This model is lighter and has less lateral support. They seem less stiff than the previous version. They work for me.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I'm really happy with these shoes. I have flat wide feet that seems to always hurt when I try to be active. For the longest time, I thought it was my arthritis that was causing the pain in my feet, it was the wrong shoes! Not only can I go on long walks now but I have started to run again just like in my younger days.

WOW! Best out of the box shoe I have ever run in. I've been running on and off for the last 45 years and these shoes are the best ever. No more knee pain, no more plantar fasciitis or pressure points of any kind. Just ran five miles at a 9 minute mile pace and I feel like a teenager again. Thank you Brooks Beast!!!

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I've been running in Beast's for what seems like forever and always very happy with the new model they've come out with but I'm still on the fence with this one. As stated by someone else, the toe box in these things is huge. It really feels like the front of your foot has way too much room. Since I've only been running in them about a month I can't definitively say but, they really don't feel like they'll hold up very well over the long haul. Cushioning seems skimpy and overall, it's just not a good feeling by the end of the run.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

Okay, so it has been almost a full year running with these shoes-- and since my first review-- I have no more shin splints and I don't need to ice down after the run anymore either. That is simply AMAZING to me... My only complaint is that there is no question I need a new pair every 4 months...(what mogo?) 3, actually if truth be told, and I wasn't trying to squeeze a little more out of each pair. But, as a large frame runner, prone to injury, this is a small price to pay for pain-free running. Awsome shoe!

A handsome, well constructed shoe for those with wide, flat feet like me. When I took them out of the box, they just looked better than other shoes I'd had before, and the runs I've had with them confirm they're the shoes for me!

6'1" 200lbs. I've owned all the previous examples of the Beast and loved them all. Was excited when I ordered these because they were new. Kind of dissapointed. Just don't seem to have the cushion and support of past versions. I noted others have voiced the same issues that I have with the new version. I'll go back to previous model. Lesson learned, just because it is the newest latest version doesn't mean it will be better.

I have ran in the past three versions of the Beast and mostly loved them all. These did not feel the same as the others. I'm 6'2" 240 and need motion control. These are the best looking and lightest Beast I ever worn but these shoes have no arch support. Went back to the 2004 version.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I just received them today. Great shoe. So much less clunky and heavy than previous Beasts. Love them. I don't know how anyone can say these have no cushioning. They are like pillows, and the fit is great. Hate the laces though. I'm gonna put the laces from my NB 857's in. We'll see how the MoGo stands up to me, 6'4", 240lbs.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I have about 150 miles on these so far. Cushioning and support are still strong. Switched up from Brooks Adrenaline GTS6 due to lateral ankle pain. Took about a week to get used to the support and weight. After that, just a smooth running shoe. Minus one star for the lacing which pinches at the ankle unless you tie them just right. 200lbs, flat feet, overpronater, 20-25 miles a week.

This shoe is THE WORST shoe I have ever run in...I have ran in the Kayano series for five years, and heard how awesome these shoes were - it literally felt like running in cowboy boots - terrible shoe...The toe box is way too wide and the cushioning and support feel extremely strange - definitely not comfortable...

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I just ordered this shoe. Technically I don't need a "motion control" shoe, but I was looking for something to replace my NB 857's(which were great, but I need a touch more control for actual running. I tried on the NB 1010 but it was too stiff, and I tried on a 15D Beast and it was great, so I ordered it in my size 15 4E. I can't wait til it gets here.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I'm typically a fan of New Balance (991's) and purchased this shoe because they didn't have the 992's in stock at the local store. I tried these puppies on and I'm definitely pleased with this shoe. I wanted 2 pair but this was the only pair in my size. The coushioning is phenominal. I'm 6'2" 215 lbs with a low arch and this shoe just feels great. The insole has extra cushioning like an aftermarket insole...nothing like the flemsy insoles in other shoes. The mid sole has additional cushioning that teams with the insole for an incredible feel. I don't think I will go back to NB, not at least for a while. This is definitely a great shoe for runners with big frames. Great job by Brooks.

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

Not your typical, clunky, box-like fitting motion control shoe. My last pair of shoes were the New Balance 1122...these shoes are not even close in terms of the smooth ride, light weight (relatively speaking), and cushioning offered by the Beast. I'm an extremely flat-footed 180 lber who logs about 35 miles per week. Great for those in need of a straight last. I'm so impressed that I'm definitely not going back to New Balance (unless Brooks does a makeover & messes up a perfectly good shoe).

Comments about Men's Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Beast 9 - Road Runner Sports:

This is my 4th pair of Beasts, and I'm somewhat disappointed in them. I'm 6'4', 215, and a heavy overpronator. My first 3 sets of Beasts, along with an arch support, got me back to running pain free. As soon as I put these on, I could tell they didn't have the same support in the heel. They are lighter by about 1.5 oz, which is nice, but I think they lost some of the support and cushioning by going to a lighter shoe. I just ordered 2 pairs of the 04 model since I know they work for me.

I've always needed a good motion control shoe and used to run in Chariots. Years ago I switched to the Beast and found it to be a good shoe for my weight (215 lbs). After thousands of miles and a few marathons, I haven'y had any running related injuries. I find that the cushioning holds up well for about 300-400 miles.

I hate these shoes - maybe I got a bad production run or something but I do not feel much cushiioning.

Love the shoes. I'm 240 lbs, running 15-20 miles per week, and they are holding up great; had them since October. Great stability, great cushioning!

I'm 6'2" w/ VERY flat feet. I've run in Brooks for 15+ years (from Chariots to the Beast). However, this new version does not work for me . . . sore ankles, knees, and back; not enough heel support.

I LOVE this shoe. HEAVY runners need to buy this shoe. I weigh 250lbs+ and this is the first shoe that has ever provided both support and cushion. I was a NB addict, but not anymore. This shoe is Fantastic!!!

Ok folks, I'm in this little weight loss contest (and yes I need to be on one) and I started to work out at a local gym. The shoes I began working out with were bargain store tennis shoes and I found out quickly on the treadmill that my feet, ankles, and calfs needed something more. I visited one of our local specialty running stores and the "beast" within was unleashed! What a difference a pair of shoes made. I weigh a well 280 pounds and the support the beast 9 gives me is incredible. No more pain, no more shin splints, my times have increased and my lower leg and feet pain is gone! These are the best shoes I have ever owned and they will help me win this contest! GO NCNSFA!!!

This is a update from my previous comment. I now have 125 miles on these shoes. These are among the best shoes I have ever had in over 30 years of running. If you fit the profile for this shoe I can't see how you could go wrong. For the next 2 years ( until they update again) I have a shoe I can depend on!!! It also seems to be holding up better than in the past model(s). Love this shoe.

I just bought my 5th pair of these. I am a 200+ lb 40 y/o male overpronator and these are the first shoes I have had that really keep down my shin splints. I hope they are around for the rest of my running career.

The last version of the beast was narrower than in the past. I have worn the Beast for 6 years, but couldn't get a good fit. I'm happy to say that the new Beast fits wider than the 03-04. It also feels lighter to me. Its early yet but this might be the best Beast ever.

I tried this shoe several years ago and disliked it because of it's weight and lack of flexibility. I tried on this model and not to be disrespectful, it is a like a Nike with Motion Control, light and flexible. My shin splints are getting better and they are perfect for orthotics. They got it right this time as evidenced by carrying me through a half marathon. All 6 foot 2 and 210 lbs. I love these shoes.

Been running in The Addiction for the last two versions-- The Beast was always too heavy and clunky for me, until this version-- went for run today and shin splint pain was less than with the Addiction-- still a smidgen clunkier, but more than makes up for it in the control and cushioning-- So... so far so good! Incredibly happy with this update-- thank you Brooks!
