5'10", 160 lb, sz 13, always runner, 15-20 mi/wk now. Beast9 has good cush & MC, but may not cure mild a.m. heel pain. It stopped getting worse, tho. Nike Air Max my fav since intro, but today's thin air bladders easily ruined by thorns. Beast9 is best sub so far per 2 pr. Tried many other brands no...

6 foot 3 inch, 190 pound, size 14 runner. I've been using Brooks beasts for about 10 years. Never had a problem until the 04 model. The 04 model would give me bisters on the back of both heals for any runs over 6 miles. Glad to say the 09 model has me back to bister free running. The lighter wei...

Comfortable and light but no longer a motion control shoe. They should now call this shoe the Pussy Cat.

In response to some of the other reviews:
1. This is a big runner shoe, hence the "plus" category... it's best for 180+ lb runners. Smaller runners should consider the Addiction.
2. Yes, the Beast 9 is a little softer than earlier versions, yet still very stable. If you prefer a firmer/stiffer s...

I have been wearing the Beasts since the 90's due to my 200 lb frame and flaat feet. They have always worked well with my orthotics and have gotten me through several half marathons and a few marathons. The 04 model was by far the best. The fit was much more supportive for me. The 09 does not have t...

Used the previous model for years. This "updated" model is a mere shadow of its past. No longer for the Heavy runner.

I have been looking for the perfect shoe for over 30 years of running. I would gladly buy this current Beast for the rest of my life if Brooks would not change it. I have never worn
a better pair of shoes ( including all Beasts since "97"). I realize that different people require different atribute...

this shoe is truly a beast. each one is 2.0oz shy of one pound. i am 5'9 and 118lbs and this shoe is not made for me. if you're any where inbetween 100-165lbs and have a flat arch you should really think about choosing a different brooks, such as the adrenaline.i love the brooks shoes but this modle...

First time trying the beasts so I don't know how they compare to older models but I am usually always in pain after I run with these. Feet don't feel stable. I had 2 other pairs of addictions but thought I'd try the beast cause I'am over 200lbs. Looks like i'll be going back to the addictions cause...

Sat, July 14,2007:
Great update. The mogo midsole is well cushioned (softer than substance 257 and more comfortable, but not mushy soft) and provides good stable support with the broad outersole, but the shoe is lighter and more flexible in the forefoot so toe-off is more efficient. Better protection from the pounding...

Not for heavier runners? No support for
bigger guys? What? I'm 280 lbs and this is the best shoe I've ever worn.
Plenty of cushion and support!!! I can understand some people saying that
they don't like the fit, although I think its very good, but no cushion and support? They must have it out fo...

I have had a terrible time with the new model Beast. The shoe is much lighter, but it doesn't fit me as well, or provide the same support that my old Beasts did. They tried to make it feel more like Asics Evolutions or something. I started having pain in my lower legs during the first run, and ...

Best beast so far. Discussed sizing with RRP rep on phone. He suggested 11D for the Beast 9 vice my 10.5 Beast 4s. This was excellent advice because the fit is perfect. One full size would have been too much. I'm a heavy runner with b-a-a-a-d knees and these shoes have made it possible to continue t...

I have been wearing the Beast since 1997. I think that this is the best one yet. They widened it back to where it used to be before the 03-04 Beast.
I like the MOGO. It seems lighter but has better flexibility. The stability
is good and the cushion seems better than ever. The only question is wil...
