I've been running in the Brooks Addiction for many years. I think the first I purchased was the Addiction 2. This new version is not up to par with previous models. I find the shoe uncomfortable and workmanship poor (last two eyelets were not cut all the way through so as to string the lace). I've loved the Brooks Addiction line but I'm not happy with this edition.

The new, narrower toebox is a complete disaster for me. The Addiction 4E was always my favorite shoe. Largely because Brooks seemed to understand that flat-footed people often need a wide toe. Well, like most good things in life, Brooks abruptly stopped understanding. I can't be crippling my big toes with all these pointy toeboxes, which shoe designers have decided are wonderful. For now, I will need to resort to the NB SL-2 last. A shame because I don't particularly like NB. As a certain Officer and a Gentlemen once whined, "I got no place else to go". I don't have an especially huge foot, it is just flat. waiting for more people to recognize their legitimate right to exist.

I was wearing ASICS and I got ITB inflamation then I switched to these and I have been injury free ever since. Great shoes. I'm 5'7 140 and have been runnning since high school. I got ITB inflamation about 10 years ago but cured it with a few months rest and switching shoes.

Great shoe, this is my first pair of motion control shoes. My feet feel better in these than walking barefoot on carpet or any other surface. Just the right amount of cushion. Will buy theses again.

I am 185# and 6 ft but found the fit on the Beast 10 was too sloppy due to the wide tox box. The Addiction fits great and is quite a bit lighter but still retains all of the Beast's cushion and motion control (I use Superfeet).

i have this Brooks Addiction 8 for years. I used this when i play basketball in our yard with my kids. Until now, i wear this shoes even walking with my dog. I prefer to wear this than my sleepers.

Ive been running for years. Prior to these i used to run in the nike free 5.0 v2. I have had these shoes for a couple of days and WOW. My knee pain is much less drastic when i run,the fit and feel are true to size. The MOGO cushioning is better than i expected. It basically just feels great to have these shoes on. Once i get over my runners knee i have no doubt i will be able to put this shoe to great use. Perfect for people with flat feet. Also a great walking shoe. I had no idea how important proper footwear was until i got these in the mail. Cheers

My left foot hurt a lot after long runs. A podiatrist (who has run 50+ marathons) recommended this shoe 4 years ago, and I have had nothing else since. Great shoes.

I'm 5'10", 183 lbs and have flat feet. These shoes fit me perfectly. These will be the first shoes I've owned that fit great without me having to use my orthodics and two pairs of socks.

I rotate Brooks Addiction with my Mizuno Alchemys. The Addictions are a good shoe.

Loved the 7s...but the 8s gave me knee problems. They felt a little small and I can't put my finger on the other differences but the shoe is definitely different. Good news is that after reading a little more it sounds like the 8s run a little narrow, so I may try the next width up.

The toebox has been narrowed from previous models causing a feeling of instability in the forefoot.

I've been running in the Renegade and Beast. They have been doing the job with controlling overpronation, but at 150 lbs, I always felt I was fighting the shoe. I tried these and wow! Compared to the Beast, these feel like lightweight trainers. I know it's more than just weight as these are only a bit over an ounce lighter. But whatever the reason, these feel great.Glad I found these.

I had some knee pain with the Mizzuno Alchemys a couple of weeks ago. I have been wearing the Addiction 8 for two weeks and the pain is gone. I like these shoes!

I was a total believer in the Brooks Addiction 6. When Brooks messed it up and updated their shoe to the 7's I was SOOO disappointed. The 7's were a HORRIBLE update. I actually had to change over to the New Balance 858's just to feel temporarily comfortable in a semi comparable shoe. I ran in pain for a solid year and it was NO fun! Luckily, I feel that these new Brooks Addiction 8's are very similar to the 6's. I'm very happy with my new purchase. The toe box is much more stable then the 7's and I'm supported through the midsole and the heel. I'm not pronating hardly at all anymore. These shoes were an instant fit for me and they immediately straightened and aligned my knees, ankles, legs and hips. I can't wait to start running tomorrow! Excellent update! I think for a year anyway, Brooks has redeemed themselves!

I was an avid Addiction shoe buyer and supporter until this new update. The toebox feels smaller and the widths are narrower then the previous versions. I tried for a week and was frustrated.

Sun, June 22,2008:
Used to run with the old Addiction because the Beast was just too clunky, but seriously battled with shin splints-- The new Beast solved problems and has been great but wear out much too quickly and are expensive so thought I would try these new Addictions-- For the most part they are a very smooth ride-- lighter than the Beast and less $$$. But after two weeks, I have developed a knee problem that I've never experienced before. So, I will go back to the Beast for runs and use these for everyday and walking... Too bad. I wanted them to work out. My guess though, is that if you liked the Addiction before, you will love this update.

Awesome update! New Addiction 8 offers great cushioning with their new MoGo midsole in this shoe. Feels very natural on low-arched foot! Great Job Brooks!
