I wore and enjoyed Brooks Addiction 5s for almost three years and several hundred miles. Figuring they were worn out, I bought some Addiction 8s for Christmas 2009. Have run in them twice, and both times they have caused my mid-calf a lot of pain and soreness. Have gone back to wearing the Add 5s the last two runs, and the pain and soreness are reduced 90%. Maybe these shoes are too stiff, it's hard for me to put my finger on, but I am going to have to move to Asics. I'm preparing for a race and I can't wait a month for these things to "break in".

I've been wearing the Addiction for several years. This version feels similar to the 7 but something is different. Foot pain has returned, after trying several different kinds of orthotics I've dumped these and gone to another brand.

Why did they go and change the perfect shoe. I've worn Addictions for years but with the 8 they changed the toe box and seaming. I've been trying to break in this pair for over six months and still get blisters any time I run more than six miles in them. I'm looking for another brand.

My rehab therapist pointed me to the Brooks Addiction several years ago for my plantar ficiatis. They worked great and were a relief to my tired feet. However this new Addiction 8 does not help at all. The toe box is narrower and shorter. I went to a larger width, but the old tired, aching feet are back.
You wouldn't have any left over Addiction 7's size 7 1/2 D?

I loved the Addiction 7 and completed a number of marathons in the two pairs I owned. This shoe is much different. The fit is a bit shorter but that is not the worst of it. They are extremely stiff and seem to require a lot of break in --- over 20 miles and we're not there yet. The tongue also seems a bit short and I like a little extra to cover where I tie the shoe! This is one of those where if you're not careful you are tying it against your foot. So overall I am not pleased but I am going to keep them in my rotation hoping they will prove good for something. I alternate between a stability shoe and a motion control shoe. I loved the Addiction 7 for my long, slow runs and I wish they had not changed it.

I have been wearing the Addiction since version 4 and this is the worst!! They made the toe box shorter and my orthotics do not fit. I had to go to a 1/2 size larger which still doesn't work. Brooks, please change these and make the toe box just like version 7.

Great shoe for overpronator with wide feet (D width). I can actually run without thinking about my feet. And, I've logged countless miles without injury. I'm on my fourth pair.

A very happy runner. Been using Addiction since Brooks Chariots were replaced sometime in the 80s or early 90s. No injuries, comfortable and affordable. Why should I change?

I have been wearing the Addictions for 3 years now and can't say enough good about them. I just purchased the 8 and love it. I did find that the 8 ran much narrower than my previous models (6 and 7) and I had to move into a Wide Width for the 8 to achieve the same fit.

Unfortunately, I had to buy this shoe elsewhere even tho I am an RRS VIP member. I needed a 10.5 Narrow Women's. I have one of the most difficult set of feet to fit! I am flat footed & have an oversized navicular bone along with an additional small bone(that should not be there). The tendon attached to this bone can become mildly to severely aggravated, leading to tendonitis. Seemingly appearing all of a sudden, I had a necrotic 1"+ additional fat mass attached to my fat pad in my left knee, causing severe motion restriction & swelling, which then led to the worst tendonitis I had ever experienced. I was unable to even walk without crutches until after the surgery to remove the mass, & it has taken weeks of searching for the appropriate shoe to help me recover. I am about 90% recovered - but am still working on some mild flare-ups of tendonitis. These shoes are absolutely the best - I also have the Addiction 7's - but like the Addiction 8's better and will be ordering again!

THIS SHOE IS AWESOME. I HAVE TRIED OTHER MOTION CONTROL SHOES, THIS ONE IS THE BEST. FIT IS GREAT. I AM A P.E. TEACHER,AND I AM ON MY FEET ALL DAY. THIS SHOE IS COMFORTABLE AND IS ALSO GREAT TO RUN IN. I ALSO LIKE THE NEW COLOR. I RAN IN THEM TODAY AND HAD NO KNEE OR FOOT PAIN. PLEASE BROOKS, DO NOT CHANGE THIS SHOE NEXT YEAR.
