I love these shoes, but was a little surprised that they need to be replaced so soon though. My current pair lasted me just over 4 months. Lovely and comfy so will definatley get another pair.

Ever since suffering a stress fracture this is the only shoe that works for me, no pain and I feel like I can run forever. The only problem is durability, 4 months and they are shot.

Love the shoes. They just don't last and I have to replace them every four months.

Although it is recommended that you get rid of your shoes after 350-500 miles, I had to retire this shoe after only 250 miles - the outsole on the heel actually began to peel off, and was literally flapping off of the shoe. I don't know if this has to do with the "go green" material Brooks is now using in its shoes, but I am not impressed.

I meant 2 stars for my previous review - sorry for the confusion!

Like many others, I prefer the 1st generation Defyance. The Defyance 2 looks clunkier and feels heavier. I returned the Defyance 2 and purchased the Ghost. I've been very pleased with the Ghost.

Liked the last model 100% more than this. Please bring them back. Don't like these since I feel like they have broken down and I have less than 100 miles on them.

i loved the first defyance. they got rid of my knee problems--which i've had for ~10 years. so i was pretty excited to get my next pair, but these just weren't the same. they feel clunkier. i thought maybe they were bigger (they felt bigger), but side-by-side comparison with the 1st generation shows them to be the same length, at least on the outside. but inside, i mean, they kind of felt like clown shoes to me. and when i run, i feel like my foot slaps down. whereas with the first generation, it was a very smooth landing-rolling-transition. i'm sure these would have been fine shoes, but i want GREAT shoes for this much money! (and now that i know that shoes can, in fact, make my knee problems disappear). i returned them. hopefully a different brand will solve my problems.

I love these shoes. The only thing I don't like is that they broke down quick. I had to buy another pair quicker than I thought I should for my size and mileage. They only lasted 4 months.

I tried every single pair of running shoes. I suffered from shin splints, and then received a stress fracture. Once I started wearing these Brooks, my shin splints went away and I have ran 3 marathons...Everyone is different, but Brooks are great shoes...

Got this as a replacement for the Radius(my absolute favorite). I developed very bad knee pain about a month after starting to wear these and I am afraid to try to run in them again.
