Brooks Glycerin 8 Awesome

I am always training for the next marathon. I run 35 - 50 miles a week. I am a 190 lb runner so I need a good cushioned shoe. After 4 weeks I have ran 17,18,19, and 20 miles run in these shoes and they are wonderful. The shoe feels like my foot is close to the ground and I can feel everything this is taking place while running from step to step. The new platform brooks is using in this shoe is superb. Check their demo video out. I have already talked 5 of my running pals into buying them and they love them.

Not doing it for me

I'm so bummed about this shoe! My last two pairs of shoes were Glycerin 6's and I absolutely loved them. After all of the wonderful reviews and accolades this shoe received, I had to have them. Been on a few runs now, and I'm not feeling the cushioning or responsiveness that obviously most people are experiencing. I'm 5'10", 200 lbs and run 20 mi/week. I'm pretty sure I'm the target market for this shoe; big guy, neutral cushion shoe. I'm going to give them one more try and if they don't work out, I'm gonna have to send them back. Sad, I wanted to love them as much as everyone else. Still a huge fan of Brooks shoes, as my "other" pair right now are Brooks Launch (I know, totally different type of shoe) and they are awesome! I feel like it's a bad breakup with the Glycerin line of shoes, "no, really it's me, not you",,,, happy trails.

Really great shoe

5

After running in NB's for years, I made the switch to Brooks running shoes with the Glycerins. The Glycerins are very comfortable and responsive. Out of the box the "break-in" period was minimal, they felt great during my first week in them. I currently have over 500 miles on these, my runs consist of a 75% indoor treadmill / 25% outdoor pavement, and they still feel like I could go another good 100 miles in them. Nothing has fallen apart or seperated on them, unlike my previous running shoes that have shown deterioration/ outer material seperation with high mileage and wear, the Glycerins are well constructed solid and worth it. I'm ready to replace these with a new pair and I'm sold on choosing Brooks again because of the durablity I found in these.

Best Running Shoe for Neutral Runners

5

This is my second pair of the Brooks Glycerine 8 running shoe. Ran over 500 miles with my previous pair and needed to transition in a new pair. I went to 2 specific running stores and compared newer models to these and still nothing compared to them. They hug the forefoot with just the right amount for control and the cushioning is great. I don't even feel like they are on my feet when I'm running. I'd recommend them to everyone who is looking for a neutral running shoe.

Outer Sole wears fast.

4

This shoe is really good with custom orthotics, not the foot supports you buy at the store. It feels lighter than the Nimbus and about the same as the Cumulus. I got about 350 miles out of a pair mostly on asphalt while training for a marathon. I used the shoe for my long runs most of the time. However, for the marathon I ran in the Brooks Ghost 3, the shoe I did most of my long tempo and MGP runs. The outer sole on the heel wears out fast, I got down to the white cushioning by 250 miles.

Great Shoe from a shoe-a-holic

5

Bought these back in March in medium width. Loved the DNA and the fact that it got hard when running faster and softer when slowing down. Only problem was that it felt that were a bit snug on the lateral toebox so I went on the ultimate shoe hunt. Went from Defyance 3 (good), Wave Runner 13, Wave Creation, Lunar Glide, and 2150's. Started to have shin splints with 2150's so called up the great people at RRS and we decided to try the Glyerin 8 in wide. GREAT GREAT GREAT. No pain at a good pace. Thanks.

Run faster with these shoes.

5

When I first ran in these shoes I was able to run faster and longer than previous shoe brands and models. I bought my shoe in June and trained for the SF Marathon and San Jose Rock N' Roll Half Marathon in these shoes. I put about 350 miles on them so far and it is still in really great shape. I've ran them on firetrails, road and track and they work really well for me. I was able to run my first marathon using these shoes and they were totally comfortable the whole race. This is not going to be for everyone so you have to try them out and see if they fit your running style and feet.

Brooks Glycerin 8

5

This is my second pair of Brooks Glycerin 8's. I use this shoe for road running and weight training in the gym. The shoes are terribly comfortable and provide a lot of cushion. The only issue I've had is that, with my last pair, I wore holes on the toe box more quickly than usual. Overall, Brooks Glycerin's are my favorite running shoes I've owned! I strongly recommend them!!

Great cushion, great fit

5

Started with an 8 mile run; followed with a 9 mile run. Felt so comfortable I really couldn't believe it and I have a skin graft on the bottom of one foot; no problems. I've given up on the Nike Air Zoom Vomero's. They last such a short time before they need to be replaced. The Brooks feels more cushioned but not mush. No drawbacks as yet. I've only have had 3 runs so far, but am very impressed. 6'1" and 210 lbs

The Shoe for Mileage Junkies!

5

This was my first switch to the Glycerin from the Adrenaline GTS. I run on average 100-110 miles per week. The Glycerin are the only sneakers I've EVER gotten a 1000 miles out of. The comfort level keeps my legs feeling good through out the week. Even though the cost may be upper end, the durability saves your wallet in the long run.

Great shoe, but wears out fast

4

I am a marathoner and have had difficulties finding the right shoe. The Glycerin 8's fit great and give me the right about of stability. I am a fairly pronounced supinator and will say that these shoes wear out very, very quickly. I am 6'2" and 160 lbs, and I wore these down to the foam after less than 20 miles. One would think you could get a few more miles out of a shoe that costs this much.

Best shoe ever

5

Just ran the mini marathon in Indy, this shoe is fantastic, had no problems with my feet, the shin splints diappeared as soon as I started using these shoes. I have tried many shoe brands, but the Glycerin 8's are by far hands down the best shoe ever made.

Great Shoe for Big Guys

5

Great shoe for heavy runners. Good cushioning w/out being overly soft. I'm 210lbs, and usually pound shoes into submisson, not these. I don't know how they would do for lighter runners, but for the large runners who need a neutral shoe this shoe is very good.

Definitely the best shoes by Brooks

5

Has excellent heel to toe off transition. These shoes helps me to run faster! When running slow, the DNA makes it soft and comfortable, and when I'm running fast, it's firm and responsive. Definitely the best running shoes ever!

Most comfortable shoe I have ever run in

5

I have run in many different types of shoes for over 20 years and tried the Brooks just because I have never run in them. I love these shoes and will never run in anything but Brooks again. They are a little heavy, but I do not mind the extra cushion.

Defected from New Balance

4

I wore Asics for 8 years then New Balance for 3. This is my first pair of Brooks and I won't go back. As a heavier (210 lbs) runner, these offer great cushioning without being too soft.

Nice shoe

4

Took these for a 3 mile try this morning. I'm partial to Brooks HydroFlow, so I think these are a bit lacking in cushioning. Otherwise, nice shoe so far.

I am a heavier runner (,220 lbs). This shoe is great!!! Felt good by short, middle and after 25 km :). Surely not so soft and cushy( like my other favorite Ravenna), but allways the wright amount of cushion that you need :). It seems dna functions very well, you should give them a try :)

Excellent ride for long slow runs.

5

Great comfort - esp. after about 10 mile mark and also for runs on concrete. Not too soft like some others but just right for my 6'2" 180 lb frame.

First pair of Brooks

5

I wear saucony's because their comfortable. When the sells rep suggested the brooks glycerin 8 I was skeptic. I narrowed it down to two pairs, the saucony triumph 7 or the brooks glyerin 8. After doing a side by side comparison I chose the brookes due to comfort.

Great right out of the box

5

Great right out of the box. I ran 12 miles tonight with no problems. I was a bit concerned as I've been running in stability shoes up to this point. But I have high arch, and I thought that I would try a more neutral shoe. It was a good choice.

Great shoe for long runs

5

This shoe is a great update from the 7. It feels seemless out of the box, and my first run it it was 15 miles. No issues at all. It is soft, but not so much that my ankle feels like they were rolling in every direction
