Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

I have used this for over 3 years and the only problem I had was changing my battery one time. I use it 5-6 times per week for my runs. (5-8 miles) Very easy to use and I would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

Very impressive for a very reasonable price. I decided against purchasing the foot pod as I have a Nike+ and am happy with the results regarding distance and pace from that. I would recommend that combination, as it appears the foot pod can be rather temperamental. The RS200's heart rate and calorie count is spot on! The ability to train using specific heart zones is great as too is the fitness test. I found the instruction manual easy to read and follow. A definite 5/5 from me!

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

My wife spent a fortune on the RS200 SD and it rarely records my pace or distance correctly. I am very frustrated. It will work for maybe a mile and then it just quits. I have also used the GPS models and although they can lose their signal, I would recommened them over this huge waste of money.

I purchased the RS200,not the RS200sd.
I bought this thinking that it would come with all the features, only to find out "the foot pod cost more,as the RS200 'SD'. The watch comes configured as an 'SD' with the footpod feature enabled.Once I turned off this feature it works great.I have a gps that gives me my speed and distance so I could care less about the footpod,if you do not have a gps,I recommend paying the differece for the RS200SD to get the foot pad.I love the watch and once I setup the display to show Calories, workout duration and heart rate to display during my session it has been terrific.I have only had it a weekend so we will see.I for my AM cardio and evening weight training so I should no in a month how this watch holds up.Hope everyone has a terrific season!! No pain No gain.. Go Chargers!

By Chris C

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

This is my first HR monitor. I have substantially changed my workout regimen because of it, and will have another soon. However, it will NOT be a Polar RS200.
This unit has failed 4 times since I purchased it approximately 9 months ago, and probably would have failed more except that it spent so much time sitting on the shelf, non-functioning. I replaced the battery (even though the jewelry store's tester showed the original to be fine), and that solved the problem...for a couple of weeks. Then it was back to square one with the screen locking up again.
Additionally, the chest strap won't read my HR unless I am totally drenched with sweat. In other words, for the first 15 or so minutes of one's workout, you'll have to palpate your pulse physically. Unacceptable.
Polar's unit is excellent in theory and worthless in practice. I may as well have withdrawn $140 at the ATM and burned it. At least I would have known for sure where I stood....

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

This watch has an amazing number of features for a relatively low price, however, if you can possibly afford it, I recommend getting the rs200sd, because that version comes with the foot pod, which essentially doubles the number of features for only 70 more dollars. I have had problems with the heart monitor. If you manually set your heart rate, and then do a workout, in the file summary that lets you know how you did, the watch incorrectly reports how much time you spent in your training zone. Polar is aware of this, and the fix is covered by warranty, however, there is currently no fix available. It really does not affect anything except the post workout report is incorrect. There is a way around this, and that is to custom program one of the built in "sportzones" to match the heart rate zone that you were trying to manually use, and then just use the sport zone to get your proper time in the zone. Aside from that, I wish the way the watch recorded information during your wor

SERIOUS RELIABILITY ...

By Greg Palmer

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

SERIOUS RELIABILITY PROBLEMS The first RS200SD I received had a defective foot pod. (Great service from Road Runner, they replaced it at their expense.) The replacement lasted about 6 weeks. I went for a run in the rain, and after about 7 minutes, the screen froze and stopped responding to any commands. (Polar advertises water resistance up to 30 meters for the watch unit, so a little rain shouldn't have killed it.) Now I have to work with the Polar warranty people... ship the broken thing all the way to New York... who knows when I will get it back?? I have a race next week, and I won't have a running computer, that's for sure. Garmin has recently released their brand new Forerunner 305 unit, which does speed and distance based on GPS signals, and also has a heart rate monitor. It also looks a lot more stylish than previous Forerunners (which resembled a large black box strapped to your arm). Look into Garmin Forerunner 305 before you buy this Polar unit.

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

Got this unit over 8 months ago. When it works properly, it is a great tool. However, have had problems with the unit needing to reboot. Looking at some of the other reviews, I see that it's not only the one I received. For function and features I'd give this product five stars. However, given it's lack of durability, I'm averaging it out to three.

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

I got this watch for christmas with the idea of adding speed and distance via this watch and the associated footpod. The watch is very functional (and stylish) however, I've returned this watch twice for a problem that's known by Polar tech support. It consistently fails to record time 'in zone' properly. Polar says they are querying Polar HQ in Finland about the problem, but there is no response in sight at the moment. If you get one of these without the problem, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I haven't been that luck though.

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

My wife and I are new to heartrate monitoring, so not much to compare too. I got her this one for X-mas, because she liked the HR zone-bar feature a lot. She had trouble keeping on that mode at first, and the whole unit just shut down one day last month. Major kudos to RRS for replacing it on the spot without having to go through Polar's repair center. She loves the Wearlink transmitter that came with it($50 value). Super comfortable and stores small.

Comments about Polar RS200 Running Computer Monitor:

I wrote the review below this one about the RS200SD breaking during a run in the rain. What I found is that if the display seems "frozen" and doesn't respond to any commands, you can reboot the unit by pressing and holding all 4 buttons simultanously. You lose some of your settings, but the device works again. This information isn't in the product manual, so I thought it might help someone.
