Be sure to check out Amazon's reviews, lot of review by triathletes in favor and against the product. Very well written and will help you determine if this is what you are looking for. Could be perfect for the right person.

So far 1 run in San Francisco and 2 in Hawaii on the first charge. It's awesome and I''m loving it. Enjoying the auto lap feature that beeps at vibrates and beeps at each mile (optional) and lets you know your pace for the mile.

I got this last week and may really enjoying seeing the numbers after my run. It tells me the pace and distance as I run, the HR zone and HR and it goes on. Up to 4 screens showing data and up to 4 pieces of data per screen.
I love the Garmin Connect feedback after the run. I'm yet to take it out on a ride or a swim but that will be more fun with this cool tool.

Just got it last week. The watch works great. The sync is one of the best I have seen, when I get near my computer it automatically downloads my training data. I use the free training cener software. it has alot of info. one cool feature is you can hit a button and it uploads the run to google maps. not real sure how to print out stuff from within training center but we will see. the reason for 4 stars vs 5 is the size, i feel like i am wearing a pager or cell phone on my wrist, not heavy just massive. Battery life is great but i was hoping i could wear it all day and look at my total energy spent each day. it would look really funny with anything other than running cloths so i dont think i will be using it fully.

After the wait, the 310XT is all I expected and more. It works great as a training tool and the battery life is superb. I haven't tested it out on the bike yet, but for running it is top-notch. Definitely a must-have if you are looking to upgrade.

This is an awesome training tool -- everything works great: Satellite sync, HRM, battery life, uploading and analysis. I am positive I will run a lot more because of the 310xt. I'm thrilled with this purchase.

So very happy with this Forerunner. In the early stages of my running and it's proving to be a huge help in figuring things out!

The features and graphs are worth the price, but the constant need to hard reboot because of system locking has caused extreme doubt on purchasing this monitor.
Dependent on personal wants, if you have a 305 you already have a good monitor.

I'm still waiting on mine too, but I have never had a bad experience with Road Runners so I will stick it out. I don't believe it's their fault

I was told by RRS that delays were due to the typhoon that hit Taiwan where the Garmin is manufactured. It sounds like pre-order demand was high and they ran out of initial stock and are waiting for a 2nd shipment.

excellent features like vibrating alerts, ultrafast satellite locking (5-10secs in open space), carefree battery autonomy 20hrs, easy multisport alternation. I'm now working on ways to make the watch floatable -tied up to my swim goggles strap preferably- so that it can never sink and loose signal and thus give me accurate course and distance in open water.
It still lacks some desired features like max-low speed alert-pace, running odometer etc but hopefully future software updates will fix it.
Overall i'm excited with it, highly recommended!

The 305 was and still a great watch for the Ironman distance. Just add some speed during the week and pick up the pace on your long days.

Re. previous review: Why would I want a training watch that goes 100 M deep? and because of the functionality, I can understand the battery issue - the GPS functions are energy hogs. So a rechargable is a must and 20 hours is better than the previous 12. The technology just isn't there, yet.
That said, this is absolutely one of the best training devices on the market, period...

How about waiting until you actually have the watch in hand to write a review.
Have it, Love it they should make it in Titanium, then I'd Love it even more.

Should be a good product. Battery life is an issue with the current Garmins in that they will not last for an Ironman. And being waterproof to 50m is great, will work for the swims. The current Garmins cannot be taken out on to the water.
