Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

Recently began long course triathlons. My Garmin 305 of 3 1/2 years just did not have the battery life so I purchased the 310XT. The 310XT takes the best of the 305 and builds upon that very good base. Definitely a solid device for long course triathletes.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

Garmin has a great interface making it easy to use. I've owned many of Garmin's fitness units (101, 305, 405) and this one is by far the nicest one. It has the ease of use of the 305 with buttons instead of the difficult and temperamental dial of the 405.

Easy to switch from run to bike with the optional quick mount.

I do prefer the HR strap on the previous models.

Having used many products from Garmin and Polar, this one is my preferred so far.

Garmin Forerunner 310XT vs. Suunto t6c

      • Software lacks complexity

      Best Uses

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

This device lacks the complex analysis and resolution that the Suunto t6c offers, such as VO2 MAX, training effect, EPOC etc. It also has an inferior heart rate strap. That being said, this Garmin shines in the area of easy-of-use, reliability, simplicity, and its GPS accuracy. The software (Garmin Connect) dispays the basics or your workout, with Google Maps overlay, and is infinitely better to work with than Suunto's Training Manager, though Garmin still has much to improve in their software packet. The battery life and memory capacity is superb, where the Suunto is criminally lacking. Even with the minimal amount of high end data the Garmin gives, I use this now on 100% of my runs. The Suunto collects dust.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

My husband and I first used the garmin 405, it was a really nice watch. when our 405 was stolen, then i looked at the 310, my husband being a runner and me a triathlete, this was the best option for the both of us. I defn like it better than the 405, it fits the wrist better and it's easier to use than the 405. The only thing that would make it perfect, is if it could be set up for 2 users, we have to constantly re-set the user profile for when he trains, and for when I train. I hope in the future they make a watch that can be set for two user profiles!

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

Great watch. Works great for the bicycle and run legs of a triathlon, but not very accurate for the swim. Keeps time, and will measure distance at start and finish of a straight-line swim, but gps is iffy for any thing that's not straight. Heart rate is not accurate while swimming either. But, if you just need overall time for your swim, then GREAT information for the rest of the triathlon, this is the watch you need.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

This watch gets nearly all the ticks from me.

I had the garmin 405 when I was a runner but needed something more versatile when I went to multisport training.

This watch is easy to use. Great battery life for ironman events. I can record my swimming. I can go from one sprt to another without resetting the watch.

The only downside is with the swimming you have to fiddle around with it a little bit and it is not quite accurate and unfortunately doesnt give you a HR reading. But small price to pay really

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

This is a great overall product. I have used several different cycle computers and was looking for the next step, this is it!

On the plus side, the ease of use in general is awesome! Also, when paired with the Quick-release setup and the speed/cadence sensor you have a complete setup.

My only complaints are that the setup instructions were not detailed enough. Specifically when attaching and configuring the speed/cadence sensor, I had to search the Garmin site to see how to get the unit to detect the new device.

Overall, fantastic, no regrets at all in purchasing the unit. The more I use it, the better I like it!

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors:

I use my new Garmin for road running. I haven't used it for biking and swimming yet because I haven't had it very long, but I'm excited to try it out. It appears to be very accurate and the basic functions are easy to use. I wanted to master the basic functions before learning other functions. The Garmin vibrates at each mile which I find very helpful. The screen is very easy to ready while running. It allows you to easily keep up with your time, pace, and mileage. When you take it out of the box, it appears to be huge, but it has a nice feel on your wrist and is not cumbersome. I had some difficulty navigating garmin connect, but I believe the problem has been resolved. I love the wireless upload and being able to review and compare your workout stats. I LOVE my new Garmin!

The Garmin 310 XT is an improvement from other previous Garmin Forerunner versions. While I have not tried to use it for biking or swimming, I have heard that the swimming distace isn't accurate. Either way, its software is a bit easier to use and minor improvements, such as wireless data transfer and vibration alerts. In my opinion this device is worth the price and I recommend it to everyone in need of a GPS watch.

I have a Polar, Timex and Suunto, but i still prefer this watch because I can do more things with it. Hopefully, Garmin will come out with a black or Grey 310XT that has a longer battery life, and can be used as a watch also. I would rather not change into a different watch after training or after a race. The GPS locks on easy, and so does the footpod indoors. Although i'm still a bit lost when switching from run to bike or vice versa.

Comfortable heart rate monitor is not noticeble and stayed in place on long runs and MTB rides. Wrist device picks up signal under a minute in rual Germany, Belgium, Austria, and France and records accurate mapping data even through tree-covered MTB trails and underpasses. The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate even without reading the manual. I love being able to choose the data fields displayed and the location of each. The online data storage and presentation site crunches and displays data applicable to every training program.

Be sure to check out Amazon's reviews, lot of review by triathletes in favor and against the product. Very well written and will help you determine if this is what you are looking for. Could be perfect for the right person.

So far 1 run in San Francisco and 2 in Hawaii on the first charge. It's awesome and I''m loving it. Enjoying the auto lap feature that beeps at vibrates and beeps at each mile (optional) and lets you know your pace for the mile. See my training with it: http://www.astroross.com/blog/

I got this last week and may really enjoying seeing the numbers after my run. It tells me the pace and distance as I run, the HR zone and HR and it goes on. Up to 4 screens showing data and up to 4 pieces of data per screen. I love the Garmin Connect feedback after the run. I'm yet to take it out on a ride or a swim but that will be more fun with this cool tool. See my workouts with the 310XT at my blog: http://www.astroross.com/blog/

Just got it last week. The watch works great. The sync is one of the best I have seen, when I get near my computer it automatically downloads my training data. I use the free training cener software. it has alot of info. one cool feature is you can hit a button and it uploads the run to google maps. not real sure how to print out stuff from within training center but we will see. the reason for 4 stars vs 5 is the size, i feel like i am wearing a pager or cell phone on my wrist, not heavy just massive. Battery life is great but i was hoping i could wear it all day and look at my total energy spent each day. it would look really funny with anything other than running cloths so i dont think i will be using it fully.

After the wait, the 310XT is all I expected and more. It works great as a training tool and the battery life is superb. I haven't tested it out on the bike yet, but for running it is top-notch. Definitely a must-have if you are looking to upgrade.

This is an awesome training tool -- everything works great: Satellite sync, HRM, battery life, uploading and analysis. I am positive I will run a lot more because of the 310xt. I'm thrilled with this purchase.

The features and graphs are worth the price, but the constant need to hard reboot because of system locking has caused extreme doubt on purchasing this monitor. Dependent on personal wants, if you have a 305 you already have a good monitor.

I was told by RRS that delays were due to the typhoon that hit Taiwan where the Garmin is manufactured. It sounds like pre-order demand was high and they ran out of initial stock and are waiting for a 2nd shipment.

excellent features like vibrating alerts, ultrafast satellite locking (5-10secs in open space), carefree battery autonomy 20hrs, easy multisport alternation. I'm now working on ways to make the watch floatable -tied up to my swim goggles strap preferably- so that it can never sink and loose signal and thus give me accurate course and distance in open water. It still lacks some desired features like max-low speed alert-pace, running odometer etc but hopefully future software updates will fix it. Overall i'm excited with it, highly recommended!

The 305 was and still a great watch for the Ironman distance. Just add some speed during the week and pick up the pace on your long days.

Re. previous review: Why would I want a training watch that goes 100 M deep? and because of the functionality, I can understand the battery issue - the GPS functions are energy hogs. So a rechargable is a must and 20 hours is better than the previous 12. The technology just isn't there, yet. That said, this is absolutely one of the best training devices on the market, period...

Should be a good product. Battery life is an issue with the current Garmins in that they will not last for an Ironman. And being waterproof to 50m is great, will work for the swims. The current Garmins cannot be taken out on to the water.

Battery life up to 20 hours. Y it is made not up to 1 month? Only 50m waterproof. later, sure come out a new new 100m waterproof.
