Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: Recently began long course triathlons. My Garmin 305 of 3 1/2 years just did not have the battery life so I purchased the 310XT. The 310XT takes the best of the 305 and builds upon that very good base. Definitely a solid device for long course triathletes.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: Garmin has a great interface making it easy to use. I've owned many of Garmin's fitness units (101, 305, 405) and this one is by far the nicest one. It has the ease of use of the 305 with buttons instead of the difficult and temperamental dial of the 405. Pros

Best Uses Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: This device lacks the complex analysis and resolution that the Suunto t6c offers, such as VO2 MAX, training effect, EPOC etc. It also has an inferior heart rate strap. That being said, this Garmin shines in the area of easy-of-use, reliability, simplicity, and its GPS accuracy. The software (Garmin Connect) dispays the basics or your workout, with Google Maps overlay, and is infinitely better to work with than Suunto's Training Manager, though Garmin still has much to improve in their software packet. The battery life and memory capacity is superb, where the Suunto is criminally lacking. Even with the minimal amount of high end data the Garmin gives, I use this now on 100% of my runs. The Suunto collects dust. Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I'm still waiting on mine too, but I have never had a bad experience with Road Runners so I will stick it out. I don't believe it's their fault Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I bought the 310 XT with the HR strap specifically to monitor my HR BUT was disappointed there is NO live reading of the HR - only average HR calculated and viewable after the workout. Overall time and pace are on display during use and ARE accurate, as is (I assume) the calories. I was disappointed that the product was designed to measure HR but does not display it real-time. The calories burned, which are calculated, are displayed real-time. I used the unit through four battery charging cycles and never got more than 3 (three) hours of battery life. I loaded the software on to three different computers (2 PCs and 1 Macbook Pro) but never got the software to function properly and sync with the unit.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I've been using this watch for several months now. I have been impressed with the accuracy of the watch. Repeatability on the roads over courses I normally run is within 20 yards or so. Only twice has the gps hiccuped and thrown off a segment of a run. I've set the watch to automatically log mile intervals and even on the track it tracks and maps distance and the route very well. Garmin Connect software is useful and informative and the mapping feature is great. I have not used the watch in heavy tree cover on trail runs yet. But, will update when that happens.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: My husband and I first used the garmin 405, it was a really nice watch. when our 405 was stolen, then i looked at the 310, my husband being a runner and me a triathlete, this was the best option for the both of us. I defn like it better than the 405, it fits the wrist better and it's easier to use than the 405. The only thing that would make it perfect, is if it could be set up for 2 users, we have to constantly re-set the user profile for when he trains, and for when I train. I hope in the future they make a watch that can be set for two user profiles!

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: Great watch. Works great for the bicycle and run legs of a triathlon, but not very accurate for the swim. Keeps time, and will measure distance at start and finish of a straight-line swim, but gps is iffy for any thing that's not straight. Heart rate is not accurate while swimming either. But, if you just need overall time for your swim, then GREAT information for the rest of the triathlon, this is the watch you need.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I use my new Garmin for road running. I haven't used it for biking and swimming yet because I haven't had it very long, but I'm excited to try it out. It appears to be very accurate and the basic functions are easy to use. I wanted to master the basic functions before learning other functions. The Garmin vibrates at each mile which I find very helpful. The screen is very easy to ready while running. It allows you to easily keep up with your time, pace, and mileage. When you take it out of the box, it appears to be huge, but it has a nice feel on your wrist and is not cumbersome. I had some difficulty navigating garmin connect, but I believe the problem has been resolved. I love the wireless upload and being able to review and compare your workout stats. I LOVE my new Garmin!

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: The Garmin 310 XT is an improvement from other previous Garmin Forerunner versions. While I have not tried to use it for biking or swimming, I have heard that the swimming distace isn't accurate. Either way, its software is a bit easier to use and minor improvements, such as wireless data transfer and vibration alerts. In my opinion this device is worth the price and I recommend it to everyone in need of a GPS watch.

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I have a Polar, Timex and Suunto, but i still prefer this watch because I can do more things with it. Hopefully, Garmin will come out with a black or Grey 310XT that has a longer battery life, and can be used as a watch also. I would rather not change into a different watch after training or after a race. The GPS locks on easy, and so does the footpod indoors. Although i'm still a bit lost when switching from run to bike or vice versa. Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: This product is great for triathlon's because you can wear it the whole time on your wrist and not even move it. It can be worn in the water but doesn't show data accurately. The tricky part is getting the auto sport to work. I read the directions numerous time.s Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I love this Garmin. This is my second. I literally ran my 301 into the ground. Was hesitant on the price but after I used it once, I realized it will be worth every penny. Still need to find all the features but I love it already! Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: Comfortable heart rate monitor is not noticeble and stayed in place on long runs and MTB rides. Wrist device picks up signal under a minute in rual Germany, Belgium, Austria, and France and records accurate mapping data even through tree-covered MTB trails and underpasses. The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate even without reading the manual. I love being able to choose the data fields displayed and the location of each. The online data storage and presentation site crunches and displays data applicable to every training program. Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: This was a gift for my wife. If I had known this monitor's capabilities, I would have kept it for myself. I think it tracks EVERYTHING. After a run, she downloads the data to Garmin connect and can see min / max data for pace, heart rate, distance, calorie burn, splits, altitude gain / loss and it will even map the route she ran. Our old monitoring system doesn't even compare to this. I'm completely impressed and satisfied with the product. We've had it about 3 weeks and no complaints. Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I use the Garmin for tempo runs & long runs- it lets me focus on the workout & not have to keep track of laps to get my mileage in- great for times complex track workouts. I haven't used it to swim yet (the satellite didn't read indoors) but I'm planning to use it for outdoor swims. It is very user-friendly & lightweight- this is my first GPS & I love it! Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I bought the 310XT to replace my Ironman Body Link (which I loved), which I used to train for many triathlons from Olympic distance to full Ironman events. I was a little reluctant to purchase the Garmin b/c of the huge cost but every day I find myself loving it more and more. This is really the perfect training tool if you are training for just about anything. I love the fact that you can make custom workouts and have endless number of interval sets which most HRM's limit the number of different sets you can do. I also love the fact that I can just walk in the room with my computer and it automatically uploads my workout to the Garmin software without having to plug it into the computer. Adding the cadence and speed sensor has helped take my training to another level, this thing is really AWESOME. I can't comment on the swim feature as I have not gotten out into the open water just yet with it. The only thing that keeps me from rating it as perfect is the fact that adding a power meter would run you an extra 1500 or so. It is a little bulky, but I didnt have any issues getting used to wearing it. Pros

Comments about Garmin 310 XT w/HRM Monitors: I've been racing triathlons for 4 years now and finally a training device that fits the sport. It picks up satellite signals in under a minute and downloads info to computer within seconds after ANT is in. I like being able to see 4 different data screens. The best thing about the 310xt is it's waterproof...no more having to switch or wear 2 different watches during races/training. I also learned that if you have a Tanita scale with ANT technology, the info can be uploaded to the watch. I guess the only con I have is that the watch is, although smaller than the 305/205, still a little big.
