I bought the FR70 for a month trip of day hiking in the Atlas Mountains.
When I got the watch,I allowed the watch battery to run down from a full charge, the battery lasted 5 hours 38 minutes.
Hiking when we'd stop for lunch or a snack I'd turn the GPS function off which exteded the watch's useful daily life. Once the GPS has picked up satelites it re-picks them up very quickly.
I ran with the FR70 on one hand and a 450 on the other after 8 miles they were sepated by .11- 8.23 to the FR70's 8.12.
The downsides with heavy daily use it must be re-charged nightly with the relatively short battery life.
The watch is easy to use and read and the back light on the face is very bright and stays on several seconds. In the dark night I used it as a flash light. Running at night you could turn it on as a car approaches.
I've used it hard (required re-charging every night) for a month with no problems. Also, the watch function makes it a good daily wristwatch and w/o the GPS on the watch lasts for weeks, though I wish the watch showed seconds (shows hour, minutes and date [not day]) There's also an easy to use alarm.
If you just want a watch that shows how far and fast you've gone, it seems like a good value.

    I do suggest the foot pod, then you have everything - heart rate, speed, distance.
    This watch is less bulky since it doesn't need a huge GPS battery or antennae, which I like on my small wrist.
