Run about 4 times a week and 20-25 miles/week. Upgraded from a Garmin 305...what a difference. I was waiting for Garmin to create a running watch that received great reviews, got satellites quickly, and was small and lightweight. Garmin nailed it with the 220. Tip: make sure you synch watch with phone on bluetooth every 3 days or computer every 5 so that in the background, the satellite data is loaded into the watch. When I remember this, it takes 15 seconds or less to lock onto satellite. When I forget, it takes a couple of minutes. Love the fact that you can easily configure the data you want on each screen. Great bluetooth upload of workouts to phone. Love the vibration at set lap points (default is 1 mile which is perfect for monitoring your pace). No complaints, no regrets.

LOVE this gizmo
This is my third Garmin (after a 405 and 210) and my favorite by far. Garmin has addressed four things that drove me crazy with my 210:
1. The charger locks to the watch, eliminating the constant fumbling required with the ridiculous design of the 210 charger.
2. The text is much easier to read (I'm a little far-sighted).
3. The satellite signal locks on unbelievably quickly, 10 seconds or less, compared to minutes with my 210.
4. I don't have to guess whether I hit the stop/start button correctly, because this vibrates when it goes on and off.
In addition, the straps are hinged rather than molded to the plastic watch face, so they actually fit my wrist as opposed to leaving big gaps on the sides like the previous models.
Good investment for long runs
I had bought a lower range watch from the same brand that would not last long enough for very long runs. I upgraded to this one and it's perfect. I'm pretty slow so I need a watch to last at least 6 hours for a marathon, better get some margin so it does not stop working. Also the display is much better because you get the total time of run, pace and distance on the same screen, no need to switch screens like on watches that display only 2 datas. The band did not feel great at first but it was actually OK during the run. I love this watch. One tip: make sure the satellite icon is up before starting to run or you'll loose some distance on tracking.

I use this while running 3-4X per week. 20 miles / week.
My newest Android phone + protective case was just too big for me to hand carry and use runkeeper. Candidly, if I had not replaced my phone, I'd still be using run keeper rather than buying this Garmin.
The product was very easy to set up and use out of box. I like Garmin Connect. It has a few more metrics than the free runkeeper app. I'm not sure how much that those help me but I like data (professional engineer).
The only negative I can think of is that the watch face is a bit hard to read while running. I'll put that down to my old poor eyesight and running in low light conditions. I suspect that I'll get used to that issue.
I would definitely recommend this product.
After years of using a durable but clunky Forerunner 305, its losing its signal and then running out of juice midway through a marathon convinced me it was time. I wish I hadn't waited. The 220 is small enough to wear as a watch (and, unlike the 305, can function like a normal watch), never has to search for satellites, vibrates on the mile to give splits, and effortless syncs via Bluetooth to my smartphone. It's got a fantastic price / value ratio. I'd recommend it to any runner who wants a well designed, easy to use, does-everything-you-need-it-to-but-isn't-weighed-down-by-bells-and-whistles watch.

Love the 220!
This is my third GPS and I love it. So much thinner and prettier than my old 205. Disappointed in the instruction manual that comes with it but I could find what I needed online. Had a problem turning it off with the first run. And need to remember to save my data which I didn't have to do with the 205. Love that I can program it for 4/1s or whatever interval I want and it vibrates which is super if I am listening to a book or music. You can even wear it as a watch! I also likes that I can set it to beep each mile. I don't think, like the 205, that I can pull up latitude and longitude which may be the only drawback but I only used that function when setting buoys for swim course.
What a training partner!
After having committed to my first half marathon (Philly Nov 15), I knew I could use a GPS watch to assist me in my training runs. Absolutely love it! Instructions regarding initial personal settings set up are a bit convoluted (I ended up going to the web to get a "better answer"), but zero complaints beyond that. I was so impressed I immediately purchased a second Forerunner 220 for my daughter out in Philly. Great product!
pleased with this device
The watch is easy to operate once your past the out of the box set up. Out of the box set up with Garmin "Connect" was vague. After 2-3 uses I am very comfortable w/functionaliy and methods to change screens and view data. The "Connect" data screens are useful training tools. Prefer ability to enlarge fonts or chose a white on black display(partially due to my age) and/or wearing sun glasses. I dont run without this device.

My Garmin Forerunner finally gave out, and I had to replace it. I was going to go with a very low-tech model, but the sales associate at the store recommended this GPS unit. I am glad he did because I am really enjoying using it plus the Garmin Connect app on my computer. I upload my runs and it tells me my elevation, calories burned, distance, time, etc and tracks it over time for me. It's really motivating to see my performance. I want to beat my PRs now!

I would buy this product again.
I have been using a Garmin 305 for the last 5 years and loved it. A couple of friends bought the Garmin 220 and told me how much they liked it so I bought one. It is so easy to use and much easier to see since I run in the dark every morning. It is so light and so much smaller than my old one. It has some really cool features such as synching my runs to the app on my phone. I love it!

Awesome watch for the committed runner
My Garmin 405 broke right before my race and I decided to replace it with this one. I borrowed One from a friend to use for the race. I liked it so I picked up one for myself because I was ready to upgrade. So far it's been awesome to run with such a lightweight easy to use cool watch. I'm a marathon runner and going to be running Boston next year so I'm excited to use such a professional watch.
Garmin at its best
Very nice garmin product. Have had Garmin 101 for many years and it's finally wearing out. Upgraded to the 220 and very happy with ease of use. The only con I have is it doesn't come with a electric outlet charger only USB . For races out of town I don't bring a computer. it would be nice to be able to have the option to charge by outlet.
I purchased this after I purchased the forerunner 15 and it died on a 20 mile run and 13 miler. I returned that for this. Just completed a marathon and the watch held up great and had enough battery to see me thru for over 6 hours. Kind of difficult to figure out and the 10 and 15 and a bit user friendly than this, still love this watch

This my second Garmin GPS watch. This new Garmin 220 replaced my older watch. It has been working great with no problems. It is very comfortable to wear and light weight. I had to go online to download the manual and learned the different functions which were similar to my older Garmin. I would highly recommend this watch to any avid runner.
Best Garmin watch yet
-Light weight, comfortable, can be worn as an everyday watch
-No more touch bezel that gets stuck or doesn't work because it's wet
-Simple one button for unlocking, start and stop which vibrates so you can check your lap without missing the past ring alert when your music was too loud
-Not sure about switching back to check the time while running yet
A lift more run less marathoner
I upgraded from an Timex Easy Trainer. This watch finds satalites much more quickly and reacts to changes in pace much more quickly as well. I love Garmin Connect. It's great to keep track of the different courses I run and getting information on stride count, elevation changes, etc. is invaluable. Good investment.
Nice Combination of Function and Looks
This is a great GPS. Because it is so good to look at, I wear it all the time. I love the purple and white. The settings are easy to adjust and even though I'm not a technical person, I can use this item quite easily. It's a great improvement from previous models.
I chose this garmin specifically for some features that the lower end watches didn't have. Best feature is that it syncs wirelessly to garmin connect via your phone. This works well, and quickly. Picks up gps signal with 5 seconds. Displays 3 stats at a time, and can auto scroll to display total of 6 stats while running. Very accurate and looks good, although purple isn't my favorite color. Didn't feel I needed the extra features of the 620. And now, can upload runs to nike+, which makes it pretty much perfect.
Very good for now
I use it for my morning runs this way I don't have to guess the distance I have run ,
What I like about this watch most is that is very light
I have not discovered anything that I don't like about this GPS monitor
I like when it vibrate tells me every time I have jog a mile
Better than I imagined!
I am a female runner who switches between running for speed and distance. I needed something to measure my distance and pace, a countdown timer for speedwork, and a way to track multiple laps. This is perfect. They don't have a lot of color choices, but the red and black is nice.
Great GPS for City Running
I needed a watch that could handle all of the GPS interferences that come with living in a big city. This watch does that and has a fantastic batter to boot. Just finished the NYC marathon and it was +/- a few steps from every mile marker-- no watch or app has ever come that close.

Mine was defective
Just re-ordered a replacement. Mine would not remotely track pace accurately, tho distance was accurate. Watch looks great, is lightweight and comfortable. Looking forward to having one that works. RRS exchanged without a problem :) Just losing training data in the meantime
Worth the wait
I started running about a year ago, and wanted a watch that could give me basic info. This is it! I enjoy tracking my progress on line, and love the new cadence information along with pace and elevation.
Replaced my 210 with the 220. Finds satellites quickly, and doesn't seem to have the same issue of losing them. I like being able to see all my splits right afterwards. Everything is ready to use and figure out. I like the blue tooth upload.
Would buy this product again and recommend it
I've been a Garmin user for 9 years and on my 3rd watch. Love Garmin products and the 220 doesn't disappoint. I know that this isn't the most current Forerunner but decided to buy this model after reading many reviews comparing them. So far so good, easy to use and very accurate. Bought a Sport I Watch which I love for other sports but find it not as accurate as my Garmin. I run between 30 - 35 miles a week and rely on the gear I use to stand up to my usage without problems.
Another great product by Garmin
Very easy to use, and download on computer. Really like the vibrate for every mile. My old GPS watch I couldn't hear the beep. Great product if you want to review and store your running data.
I had the Garmin 405 and this watch does not have the return to start feature. I used this feature all the time! I think this watch is easier to use and has a great look. I like the vibrate feature.
Use for daily runs in familar and unfamilar areas. Very nice to know exact pace, miles, and time. Easy to use and store workout results. Would recommend to better your workouts.
Nice Change Garmin Forerunner 220
Watch is easy to use and very comfortable to wear. Great for a runner. I would prefer a more indepth instruction booklet to help you gat started.
Old Guy Runner
Good watch. Face is much larger than the Forerunner 110 that I'm used to and s little big for my wrist but overall seems like a good watch.
