Our son is a 10 year old above the knee amputee. He had never rode a bike as his accident happened when he was still using training wheels. Last December we submitted a grant to Athletes Helping Athletes and within a week we received a call notifying us Jake's bike had been ordered! I couldn't believe my ears! Watching our son hop on his brand new shiny red handcycle was almost more than our hearts could handle. It was a beautiful moment. We ride almost everyday and Jake gets to feel the freedom we all enjoy of gliding along the road, wind in his air... giant smile on his face!!! We are so grateful for athletes helping athletes, they are a top notch operation who are changing kids lives. Truly!!! We love you AHA!!! The Bainters

A simple "Thank You" just isn't enough for providing my daughter with her very own bike that is adapted to her very unique & special needs!! It's so tough just trying to belong when you have a disability. You have provided more than a bike. You have given her a sense of freedom, accomplishment, & belonging. She can now ride "just like everyone"! All the kids think her bike is very cool, too! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

AHA is one of the most amazing organizations out there. I personally know and work with over 30 atheletes who have benefited from the generosity of AHA. For these kids with disabilities, getting a bike is one of the greatest joys in their lives. They are able to be independant, active and keep up with their peers and siblings. Please donate whatever you can to allow AHA to continue changing lives and making dreams come true.

My daughter has a bike provided by AHA. After a year of her being paralyzed we were desperate to getting her moving somehow. We had someone tell us about AHA and they have been a dream to work with and my daughter, even though she is a T4, can ride a bike with the rest of the family. Something we could never have afforded on our own. The words thank you can't begin to explain how grateful each of us are!

The feeling that you get from making a donation and then being able to see exactly where your money went is beyond words. The only other time I feel this way is when making a blood donation.

Being a mother with a child that has a medical condition I know how important it is to give your child a sense of normalcy in their life and not to treat them different, but to give your child opportunities and hope in life!

This is a great way to help others. I'm really careful with who I donate to, especially becuase you never know exactly how much of your donation goes to the people who need it. So, I did some research and found out that 100% of donations go right to the disabled kids.

I was only able to give a little bit, but MAN! What a reward! To see the smile and joy on these kids faces is worth every penny.

There are so many companies out there that claim to give back to the community, but it is impossible to verify this is true. Through Athletes Helping Athletes Road Runner Sports is making it apparent to everyone how they are giving back and in a way that relates to the passion of it's cusomters.

The life, energy, excitement and inspiration of these special individuals reminds me how precious life is and to use our abilities to their fullest. The AHA program offers the tool allowing these athletes to expand and explore. After seeing even one story of the child racing through the neighborhood with parents and siblings in chase behind the biggest smile you can imagine anyone would be hooked. I also had the opportunity to speak to a gentleman racing through the streets of La Jolla making his turnaround at the Glider Port, his cyclist friend in tow. AHA is an incredible program!!! Please keep inspiring us all!

I couldn't believe when I received a call from Athletes Helping Athletes less then a week after I submitted our grant request. The call that changed my son's life forever. He was never able to ride bikes with his older brother and younger sister. Always watching as they played with their friends. We were never able to find or fix a bike so that it would work for him. Thank you Athletes Helping Athletes for not only changing my son's Zach's life but our families as well.
