Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

OK, I will start off by saying that, before this particular shoe came out, I *hated Hokas*. I mean abhorred them. I had tried on every model preceding this one and felt like I had bricks tied to my feet. I mean, I usally wear several pairs of shoes in rotation, which are the Saucony Triumph, Brooks Glycerin 10, Altra Paradigm, Scott AF 2.0 Trainer, and Altra Olympus -- for injury prevention (these shoes all weigh around 9oz, except the Scott AF Trainer which is 7.5oz). Up until this point I liked my Altra Paradigms for recovery runs. Hokas, in my opinion were probably used by the mob to drown enemies in the East River.

However, when I heard about the Clifton, with its 6.5oz weight, I just had to give them a chance... and boy am I glad I did. So I bought a pair of these yesterday. I had to go 1/2 size down from my usual running shoe size. I wear 8.5 in Brooks, Asics, Saucony; size 9 in Altras. In the Clifton, I went with a size 8. In previous Hoka models, I had to size 1/2 size up. It seems the redesign/overhaul of this model changed the fit significantly, but just know that it runs a bit big. No big deal. I also had to lace them using the same method I lace my Altras to tighten the ankle (but I have really skinny ankles so that probably will not be an issue for most people). The biggest difference aside from the weight is the way the toe off feels in the Clifton compared to the previous Hoka models. The redesign of the rocker bottom made the toe off much faster and more effortless. Gone is the brick-like clompy feeling of Hokas past. There appears to be more cusion in the midfoot area and much less weight in the heel -- a welcome change for me, since I am a forefoot/midfoot striker.

Today, in a rather brash and, probably unwise move, I decided to take them for a test run today .... a 10-mile test run (I am currently training for a marathon and I have a 60-mile/week plan I have to adhere to!). At first, I had to adjust my gait to get used to the heavier padding in the midfoot area, due to the new rocker bottom design, but that was easy to get used to. Well, let's just say, by mile 3, I literally forgot I was even wearing shoes, much less a brand spanking new pair of shoes (whose predecessors were totally underwhelming to put it mildly). My feet kept wanting to go faster and I was able to maintain a high cadence of 95-97spm (per foot -- so 190-194 for both feet) and actually had to reign myself in a bit because this was supposed to be a run at "easy" pace.

I don't know if I need to say more, because, in my opinion, the best thing a shoe can accomplish is to convince you that you are not even wearing it, and these achieve that goal effortlessly. I flew through that 10-miler like it was a 5K and at the end, my legs and knees felt like I had just finished a leisurely stroll in the park. Nuff said.

My only beef is the color selection available to women. I don't know who they are surveying, but most serious female runners like the colors that the men get much more than the pastels and pinks relegated to women's shoes. The color palette is horrible, but since I am looking for performance and not looks, I just closed my eyes and picked a random color. The designers should take note that the gray/pearl color sold out at Roadrunner and is now being restocked. That should tell them something. Women don't want to wear freaking pastels in everything.

Altra's Paradigm better watch out because, there is a new sheriff in town, and his name is Clifton! I am considering making these my race day shoes.... we shall see!

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

I have tried so many different brands of shoes but haven't found any I loved and I love to run! 70 + mile weeks.. A friend told me the best shoe ever ever made is the Hoka Clifton try them I won't be sorry... Wow was she ever right!!! I am sold I usually like to rotate different styles of shoes every other day so I don't get any shoe specific injury ... But I can't bring myself to run in any other pair of shoes but these Cliftons! I love them that much!

They are light as a feather and feel like running on air or clouds you forget you have them on your feet. They have normal laces. The shoes do run a tad bit. I wear size 6 in regular shoes and a 6.5 in running shoes I ordered a 6.5 in these but I wish I had ordered a 6. They are a tad bit -it's truly no big deal I don't get blisters or have any problems. I actually love the color its like a peach not a color I would normally get but its a deep rich peach not a pastel peach and I love it! I get many complements on them!

I just can't say enough good things about these shoes! I want to try other Hokas but am scared about heaviness lacing etc I think hoka solved all of those quirks in this shoe BC it is perfection! Buy them you won't regret it I promise!!

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

I have been on a search for a comfortable pair of running shoes. I have started to develop neuropathy in my feet and legs and have a lot of pain when I run with other shoes. When this new model The Clifton came out I knew I had found the right shoes for running. I had even tried out other styles of the Hoka and those did not work. I am a running shoes freak and have several pairs. With the neuropathy developing over the last year all my other shoes have started to hurt my feet but these have been just wonderful. They are lightweight, easy on the ankles and knees. I liked them so much I bought a second pair and had to write about them also.

The sizing on them I would say is just like any other brand. I generally take a size 9 in Asics, Saucony, Brooks, Addias etc and 8.5 in street shoes. These were no different size 9. I had tried the Bondi and the Conquest both of which I needed an 8.5 in the Hoka. I would say they are not narrow or wide. Just right if you have a B width foot.

All and all I would say they have finally made the perfect shoes, specially for anyone with feet problems.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

Oh My Goodness! I have been wearing the Hoka Bondi B for over a year. Kept trying to convince myself that even though it felt like I was running in a shoe box, those shoes were right for me. Even though they were touted to be light, they felt anything but and they were awfully boxy. And ran large. And made me look like I was wearing weird-looking shoes. I even ran two 10-mile races and two half marathons in them over the past year. So, I happen to see an airing on Mad Money with the owner & Jim Cramer talking about the Hoka Clifton and being named in Runner's World magazine. So I looked it up and decided to order a pair. Went for my first run tonight. Simply amazing. Truth be told, I am mid-way through another pair of Hoka Bondi B and will probably try to ditch them on Ebay. These shoes are lightweight, cushioned, look great and most of all, guide me through my natural mid-footstrike. They touted this as well for the Bondi B, that it would help runners hit mid-foot, and I just didn't see it. I also started suffering with a recurring medial lower leg "strain that seemed to be from the inflexibility of the Bondi B. I've only done one run in these, but so far, I love them and am looking forward to the next time out!

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

I can't say anything bad about these. I have tried 2 other style Hokas returning both. I have neuropathy in both feet and a pinched nerve in one. Putting these on I knew I had the perfect shoe. They are comfortable and support both ankle, feet and are great on the knees.

I wear a size 9 in these as I do in any another running shoes. Street shoe I take a 8.5. Toe box is not narrow or wide. I tried the conquest and a 9 was too big and too much room in the toe box as was the Stinson Tarmac.

Running on them was great on my knees and feet. I didn't seem to have the ball pain and knee pain that I have started to develop over the last year from all my other shoes. Addias, Nike, Brookes, Asics even Norton. These are now my favorite and so much so I got to pairs.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

As soon as my local running store announced these new Hoka Clifton's were available, I went that day to try a pair on. I had been debating on Hoka's for a while but had never actually slipped a pair on. Now I question myself as to why I waited so long! I knew the moment I laced them up that this was what my feet had been begging me for. So maybe this review is a bit premature, I've only worn these on two runs so far, but they have felt remarkable on both. My long run ended with my legs feeling less tired than normal. My shorter run felt light and effortless. Even wore them just today for a mid-day walk and again, the lightness and gently rocking motion of the sole made my walk feel much more enjoyable. I am a few weeks into my Fall season of half marathon training and have decided to switch immediately into the Clifton's as I have the feeling they will carry me through to a new PR. Love these shoes! Just love them!

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

Lots of runners in our running club have been raving about Hokas. And although I've been a faithful Nike gal, I had some recent fit issues and thought this was a good time to try out Hokas. I started in the Conquest but found them to be too stiff and heavy. My feet actually went numb each time I wore them. I was able to exchange them for the Clifton. I was a bit hesitant but I really wanted to like Hoka -- although I don't need the extra cushioning, I'm thinking the extra cushioning will help me preserve my knees and other joints. I had a PR on my first run in the Clifton! I've run in them 4 times for a total of 25 miles and so far, I have only a few very modest issues with the Clifton. I have a narrower heal and there's no extra eyelet to adjust for this. The tongue is not padded and therefore "slips" a little. Last, I wish the laces were the cushioned round laces vs the flat thin laces.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

I have to admit that so far, I am loving these shoes. I am a lightweight runner training for my first half marathon. I have tried many different shoes and I just haven't found the 'one'. I decided to give the Clifton's a try, although I was a bit worried as I have some ankle weakness and wasn't sure how I would handle both the height and cushioning. Well, I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. This is a cushioned shoe for sure but not squishy - you are almost propelled forward. It is fast and responsive and I don't feel like I am fighting against the shoe. Not bad on the uphill but fabulous on down. Excited to put some real distance on them.

Toe box is wide enough that my toes aren't all squished in. My feet, knees or legs don't hurt while running. I have noticed the soles wear out way too fast.

I mostly road run in my neighborhoods where winter can cause roads to be riddled with pot holes and uneven terrain. My Cliftons make for easy passage.

I'm a runner. Mostly Marathons. 58 total so far. I love the cushioning of the Clifton but I can only get about 300 miles on these shoes as opposed to 400 plus in my old Asics. I'm an older runner, not fast but consistent. I keep coming back to the Hoka for the cushioning but get blisters and have to tape up every time due to narrow width. I wear a wide width in all other shoes. So...wish you carried WIDES!

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

I started participating in triathlons last year so I run a few times a week as part of my training. Recently however, I wasn't really making any progress with my running so I started talking to people about what I should change/do differently. A friend of mine told me about how Hoka Cliftons had improved his running so I decided to give it a try. We were both wearing the same brand before Hoka's so I jumped right in and ordered myself a pair online. Feedback I got was that they run big so I ordered a size 8, when usually I am an 8.5. When the shoes arrived, size 8 fit perfectly, shoes felt really light with lots of cushioning and I couldn't wait to go for a run. I've only had the shoes for a week and gone on three runs so I can't speak to the long term usage but so far I've been really impressed with how they feel and how they have invigorated my runs, I don't know if it's a combination of the light weight and cushioning but I feel like the shoes propel me to move forward with less effort. And the proof is in the numbers, I have only been able to run a few sub 24 5Ks in the last year and on my first run with Hoka Cliftons I ran a 5K personal best in just over 23 minutes. Only thing I don't love about them is the colors available in women shoes. In my opinion, color selection for men cliftons is much better. But that's just personal preference. I'll take performance over looks any day.

I got these after having the bondis because I needed a new racing shoe. I found that these are lighter and are generally more my style. I don't recommend them for anything off pavement but for running on roads these are the key to success!

I'm a runner and have worn the same pair of shoes (not Hoka's) for four years. I tried a new shoe out of curiosity and because I've seen other bloggers write about it (I'm a blogger too). I absolutely love them. I'm only 5 runs into them so far but they've all been great and the shoes are really comfortable.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

I wore the Cliftons once, for a short 2-mile run, two days before the Pittsburgh 1/2 Marathon. Not only were they comfortable and light but I ran my fastest time EVER finishing the 1/2 in these shoes! No blisters, no rubbing, nothing felt tight anywhere. These shoes were comfortable from the very first time I put them on. I will say that if you normally take a 1/2 size up (ie.7.5), I would order your shoe size. I ordered my first pair from another site in a size 7.5 back in Novemeber and they felt big but I figured I'd give them a chance. They still felt big after 15 miles (3 runs). While I understand that feet swell while running or exercising, these particular shoes seem to run a 1/2 size larger. I normally take a 7.5 in other shoes, I had to sell the 7.5 to someone then I purchased a 7 in these through the Hoka website. Regardless of the size, however,I LOVE THE CLIFTONS! I hope that Hoka One One keeps these on the market and I hope they don't change anything (other than the colors) about these shoes. These simply are the BEST shoes!

I revceived a code for a free pair of sneakers from Hoka One One, when I participated in a yoga class for the More Women's Half in NYC recently. I was a bit hesistant at first, as the sole was so thick. However, when they were shipped and I tried them on, I immediately fell in love. I've been running for a few years and always look for shoes with sufficient support to be comfortable while running, but especially, prevent injury. So far, I ran with these once and loved how well they fit and how much support I felt I had. Almost like running on a cloud. I'll be sure to continue using my Hoka One One's for longer distance runs, as I prepare for the NYC Marathon this fall.

Comments about Womens Hoka One One Clifton Running Shoe:

The Hoka Clifton is the only Hoka shoe I have ever liked because it is lightweight, nimble, and has decent groundfeel. As an ultra trail runner, I primarily was interested in the Clifton as a road shoe for speedwork. While I do wear them on the trails, they break down more quickly with trail use, and will last longer as a dedicated road runner. The traction is not great. However, as a road shoe, it has become my go-to trainer, over my old staple of the New Balance 1400.

While it is certainly shallow to comment on the color- I must say I am disappointed that the ONLY non-pink/non-purple color overlay, which was the understated white-gray-teal overlay was discontinued around January 2015. Now all five overlays are purple or pink. Hoka, women will know what to do with shoes that are not pink. We'll know how to put them on, tie them, and run in them exactly the same.

I have over 300 miles now on my second pair. They have become a staple in the ole shoe barn.

I really like the comfort of these shoes and would give them 5 stars, but I don't think they hold up very well. I walk between 40 and 50 miles a week (alternating with another pair of walking shoes) and the shoes I bought in April (4 1/2 months ago) are falling apart under the forefoot. It's a shame because I have bone spurs and these make walking much more comfortable. I still use Newtons for running, as these Cliftons seemed to make my knees hurt when I run in them. These are very light and I kinda wish they'd hire a color expert when they design them. I also wish there was a way to lace the shoe a little higher at the top as my heel slips if I don't tie them tight enough. All in all, a nice shoe.... if they make them to last a bit longer

This is one of my favorite running shoes. I bought several pairs because I prefer it over the Clifton 2.

These shoes are so light they rank up there with the most expensive running shoes on the market in that category. If you get them on sale you will have a high performer at a bargain price. I wear them dawn to bedtime. I had knee surgery and toe surgery so I appreciate the support and reduced weight. They conform to the foot as well, and I wear custom orthotics, so it is like I finally have a pain free foot and good gait with these shoes after a long struggle and much PT to get it. Final piece to the puzzle. Thanks Hoka people.

Bought a previous pair of Hoka Clifton's and love how light they are and their overall feel. These felt quite cushioned out of the box. The first pair I bought weren't as cushioned as my Saucony's (that I usually buy) so had to immediately purchase an insole which helped. Have only run once in these but plan to take them on a trip and run about 7 miles every day- so that will be the test!!

I am a long distance walker and run a little. These are the BEST shoes ever! I have worn Nike and Newtons in the past. I was having trouble with low back pain and knee pain with my 6-7 mile walks. Problem is solved with the Hoka One! I am ordering a second pair today. I LOVE them and they are SO comfortable and light weight. So, these are not just for running. They are for distance walking, or just to wear to be comfy.
