Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Alchemy '04 Running Shoe:

very comfortable, good stability, a light ride. I'm 115lbs. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the upper is a little irritating but it goes away after I start running. Someone told me to try a new lacing system and it will alleviate that irritation. I just ordered a 2nd pair, I'll lace them differently this time. If it works, these will get 5 stars.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Alchemy '04 Running Shoe:

High marks for this shoe. Well balanced, nice fit, smooth ride. I stepped up to this model from the lighter, more flexible Maverick's, and I'm impressed. I like the extra support; it feels natural, not overly controlling. The cushioning is good, though on the firm side, with great response. In spite of being heavier, it doesn't feel like a "heavy" shoe. Fits a little snugger than most Mizuno shoes, so be aware of that. I like the snug fit though. One of the things that's been annoying me about Mizuno shoes lately is the all-mesh uppers they've been using. In my opinion, shoes like the Wave Rider/Inspire/Maverick have gone too far with their uppers, sacrificing any semblance of support for a comfy fit. The Alchemy has a series of plastic overlays across the midfoot, which elimates the give that those other shoes have, while still retaining the mesh feel in the forefoot. I guess it's a matter of "to each his own" but I prefer an upper where I can pull the midfoot tight.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Alchemy '04 Running Shoe:

I love this shoe. After a 2-year search of trial-and-error with 7 different shoes, the Alchemy '04 was the winner. It gives me the cushioning and arch support I need without being a clunky, heavy motion control shoe. I get NO BLISTERS with this shoe; I don't have to use any BodyGlide or Runner's Lube any more- a real treat! These shoes took me to Boston '05 and I crossed the finish line with no blisters and no sore feet! I'm 5'1" and 100 lbs., so a motion control shoe is out of the question for me; the Alch '04 does the job perfectly with the right balance of cushioning, support and flexibility in a shoe that's not stiff or heavy. Can't say enough good things about it. I hope Mizuno never discontinues it!

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Alchemy '04 Running Shoe:

I found this latest version of the Alchemy a surprisingly big improvement over its predecessor. The newest version has a much more natural ride, with a much smoother transition between rearfoot and forefoot. (The old version felt firm in the rearfoot, but softer in the toe-off.) Also, the Alchemy 04 now seems to conform much more seamlessly to my feet: the last version (Alchemy 3 or 03) felt more like an appendage by comparison. Running in the Alchemy 04 shoes is a genuine pleasure, with ample stability and now a superb ride. Cushion also seems improved over the earlier version, and is fine for me, (with a relatively light build. I'd still characterize the Alchemy as a relatively firm shoe -- as would befit a shoe that purports to provide stability or support.

Terrible update from the Alchemy 03s. I only ran about 50 miles in these before foot pain forced me to throw them in the closet. Shoe feels narrower than 03s. I put new insoles in my 2nd pair of 03s and the pain went away.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Alchemy '04 Running Shoe:

The last model of hte alchemy drove me back to 3 pairs of 2090's but the 04 is more flexible than the 03's. This makes them seem lighter and more responsive. There is also plenty of cushioning but seem to get firmer as the tepdrops below 40, possibly due to the wave cushioning? Overall a great shoe at a great price.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Alchemy '04 Running Shoe:

Great feeling upper is what i notice most. I rotate between these and the asics 2090 which are both great shoes. Now I might try the new Nirvana instead of the 2090, but if its like the kayano i dont want a shoe that heavy...any suggestions

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Alchemy '04 Running Shoe:

I like the overall fit of these shoes, especially the midfoot support. And although the transition and heel to toe response is good, I do find the ride a little firm on heelstrike. It might have to do with the hard outsole material. Until now I've been running in the Adidas Supernova Control, which have been a great blend of stability and cushioning. I wanted to try something different because I'd heard the latest Supernova Control had become somewhat of a clunky motion control shoe. Would I buy these again? Not without another search.
