Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

I have been running in the Rider since version 6 in 2003. After 200 miles The Rider 10 is by far the best yet. Same quick Mizuno reponsive ride with improved fit in the forefoot. The cushioning feels slightly improved as well.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

My previous two pairs were Wave Rider 7's, which I LOVED. I put about 400 miles on these the 10's trying to convince myself they were a good shoe. They just aren't. I just bought a pair of adidas Supernova 7's - much better than my WV 10's but not as good as my WR 7's. I'm still without a perfect shoe.
Mizuno, are you reading these reviews? The 11 isn't what we were hoping for. :[

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

Well designed neutral shoe with fast transition and light weight (for a training shoe). However, like many, I've found the overall fit a bit on the large side. To me the fit is noticeably larger than the Rider 9, but not as extreme as what other reviewers are writing. The white and shiny blue graphics are extremely hideous, the worst I've ever seen on a Mizuno shoe. Fortunately, the Rider 11 is improved on with both fit and aesthetics.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

I started with the Wave Rider 7 and probably went through twelve pairs over four years up through the WR 9. Loved that smooth heel-toe transition. The 10 doesn't fit me, toe box too wide. I ran in it like twice and started looking for something new. So sad. Switched to Asics Cumulus 8 for training - fits great, better cushioned, but not nearly so smooth and responsive.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

Great shoe! I have a wide foot and wear orthotics, so the wider toebox is perfect for my feet. This was the only neutral shoe available in widths at my local RR store, so my choice was limited. Fit is really good. Have put around 60 miles on my first pair of these and they are holding up very well. Lightweight, breathable mesh, and good cushioning. A+

Love the extra cushion in the forefoot. Perfect fit. I am a larger runner (240lbs.) and this shoe has been the perfect fit for me all 3 times I purchased it. I also have a mild over-pronation, which is erased when I wear this shoe.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

I wore Mizuno Wave Riders 7's, 8's, and 9's. I loved them and had no plans to wear anything else. Then I bought a pair of 10's. They were okay for flat 6 mile runs, but long runs with downhills always left me with blisters from my forefoot sliding around in the toebox. I will not return to wearing Wave Riders unless they return to their earlier designs. Meanwhile I'm stuck hunting new favorite shoes. Dang it! If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

The new 10 has a wider toe box and more flexible lace pattern for a better fit. The sizing is nearly a half size larger comparing the 9's to the new 10's. The shoe is a good comfortable fit, however the change in the heal sole design wears much faster than previous designs. I have two pairs with 90 miles on each that show much more wear than retired shoes with 400 plus miles. I like the shoes but cannot live with the durabilty and they have the same sole material. Contacted manufacturer and they said send them the shoes and if defective they would replace, but this is a design flaw rather than a defect, this may be why they are discontinuing the 10's.

As mentioned, fit is longer than the 9s (my fave shoe ever), the 2Es that I wear are wider, transition is not as smooth for some reason on these- I think they added more thickness to the forefoot midsole. Please, Mizuno, make the 11s more like the 9s.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

Yes, I realize the Wave Runner 11 is already out, but I didn't experience all of the "issues" with the 10 that others have written about here. I've been using these shoes for tempo runs, longer intervals, and middle distance races (up to 1/2 marathons) for about 6 months now with no complaints whatsoever. I found the cushioning and flexibility perfect for my needs. In fact, some Achilles problems that had been plaguing me for months all but disappeared when I switched to the 10 as my primary trainer. I don't have a wide foot, but never experienced any discomfort with the wider toebox or roomier fit; however, I did notice some breakdown in cushioning at around 250 miles. I'm a light/efficient runner that logs about 35 miles a week at a reasonably fast pace.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

I am a female runner who needs an 11.5 in women's shoes but Mizuno stops at an 11. They need to do their research on the foot size of American women, Anyway- I have been wearing men's wave riders for about 3 years now without any problems. They have always been a little wide, but that was to be expected wearing a men's shoe. The WR10's are horrible. They are so much wider. I just ran the Dallas marathon and I am still recovering from Achilles tendon and calf pain. I am sending these shoes back and going to have to try another brand that carries women's sizes 11 and up. That makes me so sad b/c I have worn around 12 pairs of WR. Oh well!!

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

I have been running in Mizunos for about 10 years, and the past couple of years things have slipped in the cushioning and comfort department. I have a wide toe box and have appreciated what the Mizunos offered. I agree with the other Mizuno runners, that the shoes create problems from lack of cushioning and comfort. I bought these at the same time I bought the Nike Vomero 2+ and planned to alternate between the two pairs. The Nike are awesome for cushioning, and allowed my to run longer and more comfortably than the Mizunos. I stopped running in the Mizunos and now use only the Nike's.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

I loved the WR 9, really thought I had found my best shoe (for reference, I also have really liked Nike Air Pegasus 06 and the Adidas Adistar Cushion 4). But for me, the biggest problem with the 10 is it seemed to lack the great cushion and ride of the 9. It basically feels like the Adidas Supernova Cushion 6--not a bad shoe, but sub-par compared to the 9. Also, the 9 fit my fairly wide foot better than the 10. I kept having to relace the 10 to prevent it from somehow impinging nerves on the top of my foot and causing that unwelcome numb & tingling feeling while running. No such problem with the other shoes I rotated while using the 10.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Running Shoe:

For lighter runners who are pretty neutral, this is an excellent shoe. It's not quite as durable as I would like, with the heel cushioning squashing out pretty quickly, but for as long as it lasts, the shoe performs very well. It is pretty consistent is fit and performance each time they change the design/graphics, so I'm very happy about that. I've been running in this shoe for about four years, with lots of version 8s, 9s, and now tens. I'll keep going as long as they don't "Nike" the model and make radical changes.

Just did my first run in the Wave Rider 10. Did 10 miles and the shoe felt great. Excellent cushioning and heel to toe transition was very comfortable. This shoe is much more cushioned then the WR 8 I own. I never ran in the WR 9 so I can't compare the 10 to the 9.

This is a very versatile shoe. I use them mostly for tempo runs and longer races, but a smaller person than me (I'm 175 lbs) could run in them every day as well. Very responsive. Nobody else mentioned it, but I like the really open mesh Mizuno uses in their uppers... helps keep my feet cooler. I give them 4-1/2 stars.

This is my first Mizuno so I can't compare to earlier versions. But I really like it. I've gone to more flexible shoes due to plantar fasciitis and this shoe fits the bill. The wave gives it a nice springy landing and it's nice and cushy up front. The fit is probably a bit roomy if you have a narrow foot.

Fit totally different from Wave Rider 9s. Those with narrow feet beware. I can't wear them any shorter but the extra room in the toebox and midfoot make it hard to get good foot control. Gets worse as the shoes stretch after 15 miles of use or so. Starting to feel some pain. No such problems with WR9s, Nike Free 5.0s, or most other shoes I've worn for the past 15 years or so.

Arch support is gone. I have been running in Riders--as well as other Mizuno models--for 7 years. This is the first Rider that I can bend in half, and with no effort at all! Even the Precision now has more arch support. One of those update mistakes that will never be corrected because this shoe is selling so well. Oh well...

I don't know why some other guys have been negative about this shoe. This is my 4th pair of waveriders and they are the best so far. They are slightly improved over the WR 8's, which is perfect because they were a perfect running shoe for me. I order one size up(just like I used to do with Nike) and they are a perfect fit. This also applied to my wifes shoe fit. Awesome style and super forgiving for runs of 2-5 miles. Like running on air. Mizuno really has the bar raised on the competition in my opinion....

i love the shoes more and more. i would have given them a 5 if the 2E (model#70245 same as the pic shown here) i tried not as comfy as the 4E (model#70414). Initially i gotten a pair of 4E and done 6 miles in them but returned them because the toebox was too wide for me. So i exchanged for a pair of 2E with width just right but after 4 miles, i felt the comfort offered by the 4E was missing in the 2E. My feets started to ache around the arch. Finally i exhanged them for my initial pair of 4E. Done another 4 more miles in the 4E and never regret after that. All my ache experienced with the 2E was gone! The 4E though has a wider toebox, it seems to have better balancing and able to wrap around my heels more snugly.

ok, here's the deal. I trashed this shoe 3 months ago. My foot was all over the shoe. All Mizuno had to do was put out a notice to down size 1/2 to 1 full size down. On the advise of a fellow runer i tried this and i am jumping for joy. Problem solved!! I have my long distance trainer back. The rider 10 is equal to if not better than the rider 8 and 9. The only negative i found was during the first couple of runs the traction was actually to much but it wears down. So if you die hard rider buffs gave up on the rider 10 there is hope. Just down size and that should do the trick

Definitely the "D" width is a lot wider (forefoot) than their Rider 9 model. I actually sized down 1/2 s size and found it to be a decent shoe overall. Nicely cushioned in the heel and about the same feel to flexibility. Great for warm )hot) weather running, but like the previous Rider 8 & 9 I only expect to get about 300 miles even though I'm only 5' 10" and 160 lbs. and I do rotate my shoes!

A very, very sad update. I talked to a Mizuno rep at an expo and he said it was the best selling WR so far. That people love it. I don't think so. I told him the arch support is gone. He said it was not lowered. It's a bunch of who doo. Somehow they seemed to have really messed up the heel-toe transition. They lowered the heel it feels like and added to beef up the midsole. The result, a bad ride with a sloppy forefoot fit. So much for "smooth ride" I'm done with Mizuno.

Buyers beware!!!I have been wearing Riders since the 7. Previous fits were excellent. The 10 is a big fat zero. Completely different fit from the 9. I bought my usual size, wore them 4 times, and now my second toe on both feet are totally screwed up. Bigger forefoot box caused me to return them and buy 1/2 size smaller. The fit still isn't right. Mizuno messed up the heel-toe transition. I also wear Precisions. Will probably look for a new brand.

I decided to go with this pair because I loved the Wave Rider 9 (my first pair of running shoes!!). Not once did I feel pain with the 9's. I took the 10's for a short 4 mile run, and boy I felt pain on my heel and and outer portion of my foot. I'm returning the 10's and will be searching for the 9's elsewhere!!

Awesome shoe! The best Rider yet. Already on my second pair and loving every mile. I always felt previous versions of this shoe were too snug in the forefoot and a little loose in the heel. These shoes are great, just like the Wave Rider 7,s, 8,s and 9,s. Excellent cushioning, great fit and flexible. They are almost exactly the same as the 9's. The toe box is slighly wider, but unless I have a 9 on one foot and the 10 on the other, I do not notice a difference. I currently switch off between a pair of 9's and my new 10's. While I am running, except for the color, I can not tell the difference. Maybe my feet are less sensative than others?

If you are looking for previous versions of this shoe go somewhere else. This is not the same shoe. Too stiff and too much fore foot coushion. I use the Wave Rider 7-9 as a lighter weight training shoe and this one is far from that. I'm done with Mizunos. I have moved on to the Supernove Coushion.

I've tried a lot of shoes the last year: Asics Cumulus, Asics Nimbus, Nike Airmax 360 and Saucony Triumph. This is my first pair of Mizuno's and I put them way above the others I have mentioned. I have not had the opportunity to try the Wave Rider 8 or 9 models that are raved over in previous posts, but the model 10 offers plenty of progressive cushioning (but not too much like the Suacony's), is light weight, very comfortable and is a fast training shoe. I like the wide forefront of the shoe. I would give it a try if you are looking for a nuetral cushioning shoe.

I was surprised to see so many people slam these in their reviews. I have narrow, low volume feet and I think they're great. Better cushioning and support than Asics, better feel then New Balance. Based on what I've read here, I guess I should buy a pair of the WR 9's b/c everyone says they're even better. If it weren't for the 'bold styling' and color choices (ick!) There is a huge difference. The shoe feels dead and sloppy. The arch support is GONE!!! that is a very big difference. You are not supposed to swim around in a shoe! Mizuno lowered the heel and added to the forefoot making the heel-toe transition awkward. Whoever designed the shoe and approved it should be fired...or go back to school on how to make good shoe! Mizuno is trying to appeal to a wide range of runners. Well, looks like they have ticked off alot of loyal Wave Rider fans. If they mess up the next Precision...I'm totally dropping Mizuno!

The Rider 10 is my all-time favorite Mizuno thus far. I have worn the Riders for years and the 10 is really no diferent than last year's version. The Wave plate is identical. By no means has the ride been compromised in any way. The only notieable change is the forefoot is a hair broader. Are you guys giving them a fair shot? I give Kudos to Mizuno for not trying to reinvent the wheel- awesome update!

This shoe is a bust!! Feels like i'm on cement. Hollywood, The wave plate is different. It's much shorter and positioned differently then the rider 8 or 9 so who ever is telling you it's the same is not being forth right with you. Any unhappy rider 10 people give the precision 7 a shot. Awesome shoe. Better than the rider 8 or 9.

This update is a fair update; however, I do not think this shoe is a worthy successor to the WR9. The new fit, as some reviews have noted, has resulted in a lessening of the arch. Whereas the fit used to feel more contoured, it now feels flat.

This shoe is a Dog. D.O.A It's a huge Bust. The cushioning is dead. It feels heavy and sluggish. The supportive arch is history. The heel-toe transition is very poor. The shoe fits like a tent. An extremely bad update! It might work for some but from what I'm reading...We want the old Wave Rider BACK!!! RoadRunner, Please make a deal with Mizuno..Make the WR9 a classic! I'm sick of these shoe companies ruining perfectly good shoes. If it's not broke, don't try to fix it. I have to agree that this update is Not an improvement. Foreforr, for me, is too wide and sloopy feeling that didn't exist it the prior Rider 7, 8 or models. Yes, it'll fit a wider bsse of runners, but with a relatively narrow foot it just does Not have the same snugger fitin the arch and forefott or that solid heel to toe transition. :+(

The previous post is right on. Absolutely no resposiveness! The fit is slopppy due to the wider mid/forefoot.The arch has been flattened out.The support is gone. It's a DUD! Mizuno has destroyed a classic shoe. My WR 10's are being set aside for the grass cutting season. I have serious doubts it will be worthy of that? Bring back the Wave Rider 9...NOW!!!!!!

Thu, February 08,2007:
Very bad update. Comparatively to WR9: 1. Because of shorter wave, there is less support. 2. Thanks to different hill and forefoot heights ratio, there is slower hill-to-transition. 3. Because of more soft material under the forefoot, shoes have more forefoot cushioning but less responsive. 4. Shoes are almost halve size longer for the same size. 5. Lighter but less durable upper.

Mizuno, If you are going to widen a shoe, at least make it available in a narrow width. Anyone with a fairly narrow foot is going to be swimming in this poor excuse for a improved update. You have ruined the arch support. It's gone. Mizuno was a unique brand..but now it's like all the others. If you are not going to offer a narrow width...PLEASE offer the WR 9 as a RRS Classic....Red/Black/Grey colors..

Terrible update Mizuno. As I read the previous reviews..I agree with them. It lost everything that made it a great shoe. It has a real dead feel to it. It's not smooth, and the arch support is gone! Thanks Mizuno!! If you are going to keep making a wider shoe? at least make it available in a narrow width. This is a plodder of a shoe. Please don't mess with the Precision 8. Lightweight trainers are supposed to be snug. Apparently Mizuno is going the way of Nike, Asics, Asics...Everything is WIDE!! Shame on Mizuno..I guess they are just growing with America, just like the ever expanding waistlines of Americans..Fatter feet, wider shoes too!!!

What a BUST! I've run in Mizuno Wave Rider's and Precisions for years (still have a barely used original Precision in the closet) for the only fit for my narrow, high-arched long feet with Morton's Toe. What the heck are these things?! My 15 year old son, who does NOT have real high arches or as narrow a foot, kept his, but complained from Day 1 about the lack of arch support. My 11 year old daughter (with narrow feet like mine) still has her favorite WR 9's, but is trying out some Nike's after sending her 10's back, too.

I really wanted to like this shoe. I waited for the new WR 10's....What a bust. I tried to make them work, but in the end..This new and "improved" shoe gets a big thumbs down. For all the reasons the previous post mentioned. Mizuno, wake up! You pride yourself on serious performance...well, lot's of serious Runners are light and more narrow footed. If your going to screw up your bread and butter flagship shoe by making it fit like a boat. Then at least offer a narrow option! Wish you would of just left the WR alone. For those who have wider feet, just move up to a 2E or wider. Mizuno..If you offer a wider width...you should make it a true wide. That way you can keep the D width like it was. Now us Narrow footed runners will have to look elsewhere. For crying out load!!! P.S, Please, If somebody from Mizuno ever reads these post. Leave the Precision alone!!!

One star only because of the new color scheme. I was excited when these became available, but was extremely disappointed that the fit and feel of the shoe had totally changed, especially the toe box fit. Baggy as another reviewer said, is a good word to describe the shoe overall. Too bad for the 2E neutral folks like myself because I was reading the bad reviewers for the Nimbus, too. Why change the fit with a new version number? Just change the colors for marketing and pricing.

I returned my WR 10's....Cool looking, but functionally speaking.....A terrible update from Mizuno..Not even close to the far superior WR 9...It feels heavy and bogged down. The mid/forefoot is baggy and it does not perform well. I agree with the previous post. The responsiveness has been ruined. Going to shop for some WR 9's or go to another brand! Thanks Mizuno for messing up what was once a great shoe. The trusted snug fit, gone! The supportive arch, gone! The quick responsive heel toe transition, gone! The new WR 10 is now wide and sloppy, not supportive in the arch, and the ride feels slow. Whatever they did. The old friend is gone! Another one bites the dust. Just when you think you found a shoe that you can count on. They change everything about the shoe. The new last Mizuno is using now is horrible! I just hope they leave the Precision 8 coming soon alone! Now I'm calling around scrambling, trying to load up on the WR 9's I hope RoadRunner Sports will make the WR 9's as one of their classic shoes. The Red/Black color. Way too roomy in the toe-box and even the cushioning feels compromised. Too Bad - I've been trying to get accustomed to mine for a couple of weeks, but now that I see that I'm not the only disappointed Mizuno enthusiast and it's not my feet, these are going back.

One Star...and that's being generous. Looks nice, But, at least for me. Mizuno dropped the ball on this new update. It's a totally different shoe. I had to return it. Gone is the snug fit. They made it too wide and sloppy in the toe box and the supportive arch is gone. Anyone with a fairly narrow foot will most likely have to look for another shoe or horde up on any WR 9's that are still out there. The WR 9 is a great shoe, except the forefoot wears out really fast. The new one has a beefier midsole but it's does not feel fast on your foot, not very responsive. Mizuno, Thank's for messing up a pretty good shoe. Every shoe seems to be getting wider and wider. I'm getting fed up with all the current crop of new shoes. Take me back to the 80's, In my opinion. That's when shoes were made great. The shoes of today wear out way to fast and with every shoe having a hunk of plastic in the arch, it ruins the smooth heel-toe transition. We are paying more and getting less!!!

This is my second review of this shoe so that I can tell you guys that I exchanged my Rider 10s for the new Brooks Glycerin 5. Oh my goodness. I ran for 45 minutes in them and my knees had no signs of pain or fatigue. They fit like a glove (nice and snug), are light, fast, and look cooler in person than they do in pictures.. I bought a pair of these and returned them to get another pair of Rider 9's. The 10 has a lower profile and doesn't give the same transition WR9 users have grown to love. Also, the toe box feels like a Asics Cumulus. Too much room for me. Stick with the 9s if you liked them or have a narrow to average width foot.

Love the look of this shoe.. much better than the 9's ugly color scheme. And the fit is great- like a glove. I want to like this shoe because of those reasons. But.... the cushioning is not that great. I ran with them outside on a trail and after 30 minutes my knees were throbbing and my feet were hurting. So I ran again on a treadmill a few days later which usually is better on my knees. The knee pain persisted after about 20 minutes. I think these will become my everyday shoes. I got this shoe for Christmas and WOW! I have been wearing previous models for the past several years and this is the best one by far. As soon as I put it on it felt broken in. They are extremely comfy. I have the regular width and they seem to have more toe room than previous models. There is more open mesh up front as well. I have enjoyed previous models but this one has much better forefoot cushioning. If you have a medium frame and normal arches like myself buy this shoe! buy this shoe! buy this shoe!
