I tried to switch from the Mizuno Renegade 3 to the Alchemy because it's lighter. It was a big mistake. The Alchemy works if you do NOT need a motion control shoe. I listened to some moron at a local Fleet Feet store tell me how my renegades were "overdoing it." I should have gone with my gut, since I have had severe shin problems in the past year. If you don't need a motion control shoe and/or haven't been injured lately, you should be fine. I could really feel the lack of motion control when running downhill- The Alchemy made my body feel like it going out of control. The renegade is much more responsive for someone with a history of shin splints.

After two 5K runs, I miss my asics - do indeed feel like I'm running on bricks - light shoe, but not very solid on ankle, don't feel any "give". may get better with time - will let you know!

Excellent shoe with nice stable ride! I have run 14 marathons in the last two years with this great shoe!

I have run in the Alchemy for years and always liked them. As for this shoe, my birkenstocks have more cushion than these. They are like running on bricks. No cushion in the forefoot or the heel. Look elsewhere.

Wasn't so sure about this shoe coming out of the Saucony Omni 5, which *was* a great shoe until the updated Omni 6, but I am happy with the Mizuno so far. I like the wide toe box and more "rigid" feel of the mid-sole. However, as another reviewer noted, the heel feels a little loose due to the wider last.

Really didnt like this shoe when the sales person at the running store had me try it on, bought it anyway, but after a few miles really felt like I made a good choice, good support flexable and just plain comfortable.

I have run in Alchemy 5 for the past 3 marathon and this year I almost tanked. No sport for the ankles.

More stable than the 5 due to the more supportive upper and wider outersole, but maintains its smooth transition and flexibility. Feels more cushioned due to ap sockliner (much better than mizuno's old sockliners)and reminds me of the old legend, a great shoe. Very good update and will work for larger runners like the legend. My only complaint is the heel is a little too loose with the wider last.

Feels like the last Alchemy I had, but lighter. Same solid cushioning, same roomy toe box same easy running feel that I liked with earlier models. Old ones held up well and I'll give the Alchemy 7 5*'s if it lasts nearly as long.
