Most comfortable marathon ...

By Richard

from Undisclosed

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

Most comfortable marathon racing shoe ever for me, slightly lower heel than previous models worked well, forefoot cushioning worked well on all but steepest downhills, MUCH less lateral heel wobble than tends to appear in Riders, Burns, or multiple "air" shoes after 18+ miles. Felt a little wide only at start, no problem later. Eyelets looked strange but proved no problem. Work well for lactate threshold runs and 15-25k efforts.

Moderately responsive, which is good given Mizunos tendency to take the responsiveness out of their shoes with VS1, large wave holes, and soft wave plates. How about a Creation 2000!!!!

I use this only on the track and in road races. It's not supportive or firm enough for regular easy runs for me, but I do like the ride on the faster days and the fit and responsiveness are great.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

I used these for training and racing. Comfort is very good (I have a slightly wide foot) as is cushioning for a light shoe. Problem: heal wear - worst of any shoe I've ever had. Problem was solved with a trip to the mall shoe repair kiosk for a professionally installed pair of heel counters at a cost of $3 per pair. They worked beautifully until my mileage limit was reached and the shoes were retired per my normal schedule.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

Great cushion for a lightweight, neutral runner. Fit is a bit wider in the forefoot than I?d like (a result of the new last, I believe, and/ or fewer overlays.) I merely went down 1/2 size; no problem with fit what so ever. Great performance shoe, Mizuno!

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

Terrible update! Been using Precision since the 3. Mizuno, get back to the drawing board. The forefoot is a cavern. Compensated by tieing differntly and adjusting my foot strike. I now have severe blisters. The shoes have less than 200 miles and the heel pad is completely gone.

By pit

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

As some buyers pointed out: Wider in the forefoot than previous precisions, I don?t like. But more important, the forefoot sole is at its widest point narrower than for the precision 7, reducing the stability when pushing forward. I also have the impression that the forefoot sole is slightly thinner. Anyway, the changing in the forefoot makes this precision the most flexible and responsive precision ever, very good for a lightweight trainer! And the beefed up heel of the precision 7 is kept, so you can squeeze a reasonable amount of miles out of the shoe. Despite keeping the heavier heel cushion of the precision 7 the weight is back down to the precision 5 benchmark, great!! The perfect lightweight trainer out on the market, stable and durable enough for fast training even on very long distances and lightweight and flexible enough for competitions from 10k to the marathon (should suit the slower runners doing 10k in more than 35min or a marathon in more than 2h45).

I would give this death trap a 0 if I could. Unlike other Mizunos I've had, this one has thick plastic lace eyelets that might as well be steel hammers. After running in them three times, I have a quarter sized bruise on my foot. These shoes are terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

Good bit softer but fits like a box. Still big improvement over the previous model that was too stiff unlike all the previous models.
To Mizuno: Shape the shoes like human feet, like you used to, and keep it soft - people who like it bit stiffer can go to your excellent Elixir.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

I have been running in Precisions since the 3. This is the WORST FIT EVER. The fore foot has been enlarged. The previous models used to fit like a glove. The 8 fits like a box. Way too much room. Severe blisters because of the extra room. The shoes are going back. Terrible, terrible update.

By DougK

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

Just goes to show how much shoe fit is an individual thing. I never would have tried these if I had read half the reviews on here ahead of time. I'm glad I didn't read them, because this shoe fits me great. Only a little over 100 miles on them right now, but this is the best fit I've had after 30 years of running and about 50 different types of running shoes. The cushioning isn't much, but what do you expect from 9.8 ounces? The only lightweight shoe I've ever run in that had better cushioning was the Saucony Jazz 3000 (at about 10.5 ounces), and that was a long, long time ago.

Yuck, Yuck. I felt like I was running on top of sponge-bob-square pants...my feet were sloshing all over the ground. Mizuno is really making it hard to enjoy the upgrades. First it was the Creation 8s that are a disaster, now it is the Precisions. Mizuno...get back to the drawing board and just change the color of the 7s.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Precision 8 Running Shoe:

Awesome shoe! Loved the Precision 7, then tried NB 825s. The Precision 8 is so much more responsive heel to toe, and so much better for my high arch than the 825 which in comparison was mushy and nonsupportive. Ran within seconds of a 5mi PR the day after getting my Precision 8s and will run any distance in them now. Best shoe I've ever had. Light with adequate cushion.
