Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

In response to JB entry #7: The reason its far too firm for you is because you are 130 lbs.
From running experience and running shoe sales experience you would need to have a larger frame and weigh more (like 170-180+) in order to maximize the technology of the Nirvana. I would suggest a stability shoe in the mid price range ($90.00) those are built for a lighter weight runner (you-130lbs). If you like the Kayano I would suggest the 2140 or the 3000, but if you were open to giving Mizuno a whirl again I would suggest the Wave Inspire, and if you needed more control of your pronation the Wave Alchemy. If you like more stability there is one shoe that is as stable as a Stability Plus shoe (i.e.: Nirvana, Kayano) and that shoe is the Brooks Adrenaline; its medial post goes from the heel almost all the way to the ball of the foot and the hydroflow technology is really cushiony. Whatever you end up in, I hope it makes you happy.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

I'm 6'2", 182 lbs, size 11.5, moderate overpronator, medium arches, heel striker. For me, this anti-injury device, I mean shoe, is amazing. It has the cushioning needed for my weight and stride, and stability I can feel actually pushing up on the inside part the heel-to-arch area of each shoe. I thought I would be stuck with shin splints until I got into some Mizunos, and these Mizunos required zero break in. As in, I ran a 13.1 the day after I bought them. (Side note: Asics Kayano and the Brooks / NB / Saucony stability+ offerings were not for me...)

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

For my size 6'4" 205 a clear heel striker, the stiffness is really helpful as it smoothly transfers stride; 3 marathonds in gel kayanos and asics were too flexible and wore me out. about 1/2 way through training and still holding up ok. ordered 2nd pair.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

Have been wearing Nirvana's since number 2 came out. I have orthotics due to protonation but the higher profile (around the heel)restricted mobility of my foot and may have led to a calf injury. Never had problems with the previous lower profile Nirvana's. Also, the toe box seemed wider which made the shoe less comfortable.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

I wasn't a big fan of this shoe at first. It felt really clunky, and the cushion rather firm for my liking versus the Trance 7's that I switched out of. However after getting them broken in the cushioning is there. I'll also add that I've never worn a shoe where my ankle felt more secure than in these. Overall, it's a great shoe once it gets broken in.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

6'3" 175lbs. This shoe gets a three only because it provides good support. Otherwise, I was disappointed with this shoe. I am now just over 300 miles and the shoe is completely worn out. The shoe has always felt clunky and has not made for a very smooth ride. I would have expected more from a top of the line stability shoe and will be switching back to the Kayano.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

I'm 6'0", 175lbs, and these are some of the most comfortable running shoes I've bought. A nice breathable upper with a roomy toebox, great arch support (a dream for those with high arches), and moderate stability. As my first stint with Mizuno and the Nirvana 4's specifically, all I can say is I LOVE these shoes!

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

These are pretty good shoes. They have good stability and shock absorbtion. I don't recommend them for forefoot strikers because of the big heel in the back of the shoe. It will interfere with forefoot striking. Overall, it's decent for midfoot and is good for heel strikers.

Comments about Mens Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 Running Shoe:

love them love them LOVE THEM. i've put 100 miles on these guys in the first 5 days. best shoes i've ever worn. ran an easy 26.2 the second day i owned them, did it in 3:08 with HR avg of 140. yes those numbers are real; no i'm not an elite. but with these babies and some more racing shoes (mizuno's now on top of my list) i will be.
did i mention i love them? i just hope they don't wear out too soon. cuz i am going to keep buying these, and at $135 a pop, it could get expensive if they only last me 300 miles (about 2 1/2 weeks).
fyi, i'm a moderate overpronator with mildly low arches. the NB 992's had too low an arch, Brooks infinity's arch is a little too high. my racers are Saucony Progrid Tangents . . . they took me to my first marathon, a 2:56. i'm aiming for a 2:30 for my second in 6 months, and i think these Nirvanas are just the shoes to take me there.

Am a rather heavy weight runner 200lbs. I stopped running many years ago due to shin-splints. I bought Brooks Adrenaline which is also very comparable to this Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4. This shoe has excellent support. After running with the Brooks Adrenaline my shin-splints went away and I am happily running again. The Nirvana put the icing on the cake. The Nirvana a slight notch above the Brooks Adrenaline. Mizuno thank you for putting the enjoyment back into running.
