Mahjong is correct. The 2000 creation was the best in ride and fit. It has been more tech, more plastic, less flexibility and stiffer ride since then.

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

This shoe is very comfortable for me. (5'10' 200 lbs, slight under-pronator with high arches) I had no problem with the uppers bothering my achelies which is a very common problem for me. I will say the elastic strap holding the toung to the outside does not need to be there but is not a problem either.

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

Love the cushioning of this shoe but the bar that some people have mentioned under the heel is somewhat annoying. I have not experienced any of the rubbing around the ankle as others have but I am not nearly as experienced as it seems most on this review are. I did only pay $60 for them so that might be why I like them so much... :)

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

Not exactly the same as 8 but for upper. There's a soft rubber insert under the insole in the 9 that gives the 9 a much softer heel strike than the 8. I prefer the ride of the 8 a bit over the 9, but at higher mileage, for me after mile 6, I prefer to be in the 9. But the upper on the 9 is better than the 8, at least in the toe box--the 8 toe box is too wide.

This is for Bob in Texas. I to experience achiles blisters with all new running shoes. It's not the height, they just need to be broken in a few runs. So, I put moleskin on under my sock for a few runs and it's all good.

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

The first shoe I ever returned. The heel cup and elastic ride too high. Three miles into the first run my ankles were blistering, by 5 when I got home the shoes were bloody. Would have returned both pairs I bought if it weren't for the blood stain. Will attempt shoe surgery to lower the ankle. Please Mizuno, return to the 8 upper!

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I have been wearing wave creations for since version 4 or 5. Each generation got slightly better than the last and I used to love this shoe. That was until this version, wave creation 9. The elastic strip connected to the tongue causes significant irritation and pulls the tongue to one side. I am really disappointed, and I am now looking for another shoe.

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort of this shoe. I started using Wave Creations at version 5 and liked them until I hit the disastrous version 7 with the missing medial post that started to collapse inward after 125 miles. The 9 goes back to the open design rather than having soft foam touch the road to make them quieter. The 9's can be noisier but mostly due to sloppy foot slaps. They remind you to land smoothly. I like the slight forward tilt and have had no issues with the elastic strap even on long runs right out of the box. The ASICS Nimbus drives me nuts when they make the heel too wide in 2 out of 3 versions. These fit my heel well.

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

Great midsole/outsole combination for the bigger runner - I'm 220lbs. The new upper is just horrible though - the elastic strap irritates my foot and makes the shoe unwearable. For information, version 8 and 9 are the same apart from the upper - Mizuno only really change their shoes every other version - launch a new shoe, next version change the upper, next version change the whole shoe.

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I trained and ran Chicago last year with 8s, switched the 9 to run San Diego this year, and I was a little disappointed: I entered the marathon with 155 miles on these shoes and my feet hurt like heck by mile 21. These shoes should be good for 200-250 miles especially because I weigh 155 lbs. Overall I like the shoe, but the rubber band on the side of the shoe has to go. Seriously.

Awful shoe ! Like many others wore the Creation up to the 7 and loved it. Version 8 was OK, but was very firm and didn't work at all in cold weather (cushioning went very firm). Now version 9 takes the mediocre midsole from the 8 (it's exactly the same) and replaces a good fitting upper with a dreadful one. Now has strange elastic panels that pull the upper and tongue all over the place and irritate the foot. Who knows what Mizuno are up to - they have absolutely destroyed my favourite shoe !

Loved Wave Riders 8, 9 and 10; thought this would be "upgrade" with more cushioning, but they feel harder than my worn-out 10's. Also make clomping sounds and feel like there's a bar running across the middle of my heels. 'First pair I ever needed to return.

I though I'd be a Mizuno man for life after a couple pairs of 7's. 8's just above average. 9's...horrible. Returned after 50 miles. Strap that runs from top eyelets to heel on outside of shoe cut into underside of ankle. Insole slipped and bunched in toe box during hard downhills.
Replaced with Saucony Grid Triumph 5. Will switch when 7's return!

Comments about Men's Mizuno Running Shoes | Mizuno Wave Creation 9 - Road Runner Sports:

I have to agree with most other reviewers..I,too, being 190 pounds, loved the Creation up through the 6th or 7th edition..and feel the same about the past editions including the current. This shoe is definitely not for a midfoot striker and even though heel to toe transition is a strength of the Mizuno line it is not enough for me to stay with this model..They shouldnt have changed what wasnt broken...I try not to blame the shoe because it is the foot and body that is placed in them that has a great bearing on what the shoe is going to do...so a three rating from me is really a 1 from someone else..

The previous reviewer couldn't have said it better. The Creation 3 through 7 (5 was a bit off) were GREAT and were the only shoes that I'd worn for years. The Creation 8 was unwearable for me and caused a lot of foot pain that I hadn't experienced before. Ditto for the 9. I also had to search out other neutral cushioning shoes and have become a Nimbus fan. Would loved to have been able to wear Creations forever, but the last two versions are broken.

Nothing about the '9' series eliminates the problems created by the '8' series. As I can no longer find the '7' series at odd online shoe distributors, I have no choice but to try other brands. Mizuno destroyed this shoe and lost a long-time Wave Creation customer. Any ideas on where I can donate my '8' series shoes, which are only acceptable for walking...
