The wave Renegade 2 was one of my all-time favorite running shoes. I didn't like the 3 and I don't like the 4. I am now running in the Pearl Izumi syncro-guide 2 and I like them much better. The Pearls have a better heel strike and seem to be a straighter shoe.

I upgraded to these from the Alchemy 8, which weren't bad but didn't cure my shin splints. The Renegade is the best shoe I've found for this - much better than the Brooks Beast or Asics Gel Evolution, which both gave me blisters. These shoes accomodate orthotics and are holding up well for me at 180lb, 35+ mi/wk.

Unfortunately, I'm donating my ~25-mile old shoes to charity. The feel fine (little heavy, but they're MC), but they give me terrible blisters (even with second skin AND Body Glide) on the bottom and sides of my right foot. Back to the Gel Evolution for me...

150lbs, 30+miles/week. I loved the previous model. The new one has a better feel, but less cushioning in the mid-foot. It's more responsive than the renegade 3. The renegade 3 now feel clunkier to me. This is a great shoe if you have had shin splints or shin related injuries. Just remember that you have to stretch your shins, these shoes are just one part of the cure to eliminating shin issues.

I had been running in the Asics Gel Evolution 2 until they were retired and I couldn't find them anymore. Then I tried every shoe possible but wasn't happy until I found this show. I am 6 feet, 180 pounds and do 2-3 marathons a year. This is a very nice shoe for wide feet.

205 lbs, 40+ mi/wk. Tried to break these in and do a marathon. Ended up with blisters and they felt narrow. Too stiff and didn;t feel that they were cuchioned enough for my weight. Am exchanging them.

Great update. The midsole is softer than the 3, but the stability, control and responsiveness is maintained. I prefer mizuno's old narrower last over the new wider version, but the new heel configuration prevents heel slippage.

A great update. I went through several pairs of the Renegade 3 and was worried when I read this shoe was a complete overhaul. After 50 miles, I have to say Mizuno has improved it. Same reliable stability but with a better transition and softer feel while keeping the responsivness one comes to expect from Mizuno. They don't have the clunky feel many MC shoes have, runs like a stability shoe with the control of MC.

This is a good shoe. Good support with super plush cushioning. Nice wide toe box. I didn't mind the high heel in the store or on the treadmill but when i got them home and went on a couple of runs I felt that the heel felt clunky and unbalanced on uneven streets, sidewalks, and dirt trails. I exchanged them for the new beasts which, while not as cushy, feel a lot more stable on uneven surfaces. Still, I liked this shoe and could have used it if I did not prefer the beast. Maybe I'll try on the alchemy next time..

I've been pounding through the ASIC's MC Plus Series for years. Arch, back and knee pain compelled me to try these and I'm glad I did. Softer with a bit higher arch than my old choice, this shoe remains a delight after several 50+ mile weeks. The inner fabric on the back of one heel has come loose, but I smooth it out and run some more. At 195lbs, I'd recommend this shoe for heavy runners looking for better (but not too hard) arch support and a softer ride. This is my new Fave. Sorry ASICS!

This is a great update! To be fair, I am only 2 runs in, but I knew I wasn't a fan of the Renegade 3 after just a few outings. Loved #1 and #2, but #3 just was not cushioned enough for my frame. #4 has a great feel to it. Increased cushioning (but not thick/pillowy feel of the Beast), still pretty reasonable weight, with a unique heel/toe angle (shoe has a very high heel with a lower feeling toe box) that helps me avoid some of the achilles tendonitis and calf soreness I get with the Beasts when they are at the end of their cycle.
And, the fit is better than #3, with a bit more room and a more comfortable wrap feel for the upper.
All in all, love the update, a very worthy competitor to the Brooks Beast for best big man shoe in the motion control category. Not sure its better (or worse), just a different feel. Certainly worth a try.
