The toe box on the 12 seems smaller than on the 10/11. The 10/11 fit me perfect but the new 12's are tight. I usually never order up half a size but I think an 11.5 would probably fit better than the size 11 shoes I have now. Gonna give them a shot to break in and stretch a bit, but I might have to return them or get new ones...

I run a lot, and I usually buy three to four pairs of running shoes every year. I absolutely loved the Wave Creation 11's, and in little over a year I bought three pairs of them as each successive pair wore out. I thought they were a great design, were comfortable, and offered absolutely perfect cushioning. With the Wave Creation 12's many of the same qualities are as true as the previous 11 design. Aesthetics aside they are a still a great pair of shoes ... in some ways they have improved upon the design of the shoe, but in other ways the design seems to have devolved somewhat.

My two main problems with the Wave Creation 12's are that the fit around the ankles is very stiff, and the soles deteriorate noticeably faster than previous models.

To give some background at to my use of the shoes (as I recognize not everyone falls into the same category as me, or uses the shoes for exact same purpose) I usually run about 50-65 miles a week, outside, on asphalt and/or cement. I usually wear my Wave Creation 12's twice a week ... on my two longer runs ... my 16 mile run on Thursday, and my 22 mile run on Sundays. I've been running on my Wave Creation 12's for a little over a month now.

I spent about a week breaking in my shoes when I first got them by wearing them on a few shorts walks with the dog, and I also ran around the neighborhood a couple times on two or three different occasions. Nothing really seemed to be out of the ordinary. The first time I wore them on my 16 mile run though my outside right ankle was bruised by the time I got home due to the stiffness of the material on the shoe. Even after a month now I find my Wave Creation 12's still hurt my ankle due to the stiffness of the material around the ankle. I never had this problem with the three pairs of Creation 11's. Also, after two weeks (less than 100 miles on the shoes) the soles were noticeably worn down ... the amount of deterioration I would expect from the previous model closer to 200 miles. It leads to worry I may have to replace these shoes more often than I did the previous model due to pronation concerns due to deterioration of the soles.

Those two concerns aside they are a great pair of shoes. The cushioning design has improved somewhat, and they do an even better job than the previous model in taking some of the strain off the knees. I'm not sure if they changed anything, but it seems to me they have improved the breathability of the shoe somewhat as well. I have always been very happy with the shoes I have purchased from Mizuno.

While I do find the two drawbacks I mentioned to be annoying I still recommend these shoes, and used in different situations than my own those problems might not even be an issue. I have a feeling when it's time for me to replace my current pair of Wave Creation 12's I may upgrade to a slightly larger size, and see if that resolves the issue with my ankle (which I'm fairly sure it will).

First my info...61 year old with 31 years experience...High arch,midfoot striker..weight 190 pounds....
Mizuno did soften up the heel a bit but being a midfoot striker this isnt important to me. The great thing about the shoe is the heel to toe transition..it just points you down the road and flex grooves are perfect...as in the past not the best shoe for winter running as snow packs in the heel area..excellent breathability,good fit especially if you have an average instep. Mine is pretty high and full and stretches thelacing system to the max...also wear a Brooks Ghost 3 which is better for my footstrike but the Mizuno transition is a little better..Also wear Vomero 5s..but they are lacking in arch support compared to these two. Like all shoes, they arent for everybody but if you are neutral and over 190 pounds I would check these out..hope this helps you

I wear a size 13 shoe, and I have had numerous sports injuries related to my lower back, hip, knees, etc; due to running for PT (military) and sports. I don't run a whole lot because of this (5-10 miles per week), and I hope to change that with the help of this great shoe.

The fit is amazing. It's like a molding of my foot with a very soft, flexible mesh upper. Just walking around the house with this shoe on makes a noticeable difference in the amount of stress I feel on my back and hip. In the past, I have had problems with shoes being a little too narrow; but the Mizuno upper is so flexible that a standard D width feels very comfortable. I have used Asics in the past and decided to try something new due to my nagging injuries. The biggest difference is the ARCH SUPPORT. The Mizuno shoe has the best high-arch support of any shoe that I have ever tried on.

I think the shoe fits perfectly, true to size; but I have noticed other people say that you should order 1/2 size up. At a 13, they fit me just fine.

Running 25 to 35 miles a week. It may be my feet, but on the first run the shoe lightly rubbed two toe nails on the right foot. But, my right leg is shorter than the left and I double up the insoles with stiff padding under them on the right foot to compensate. Triming and modifying insoles seems to have solved the problem. The runner with equal length legs and has used Mizuno before should have no trouble. Recommend you wait 'til they are on sale before you try a pair.

This is a great all around shoe. I had an older model of the wave creation that wore out and I replaced it with a pair of UK gear shoes. They were OK but I have switched back to the muzinos and am loving them.

The reason I'm not a fan of this shoe is kind of hard to explain. It's because of the rear "hinge" or hard plastic flex point where the outsole joins the bottom of the heel on the very back of the shoe. On previous editions of this shoe, the outsole joined the heel almost flush, this one has a hinge like link taking up a half inch between your heel and the outsole and it's meant to flex which I think makes the shoe uncomfortable. The effect is the hinge thing rubs up against the back of my heel and makes the shoe flex weird. Feels like I have a piece of wood attached to the back of my shoe. The back hinge doesn't allow my heel to strike the ground and roll onto the rest of my foot, it's like you have to be a plodder to run without the hinge think bothering you. I hope that made sense. I don't know if you can see the back of the shoe on this site.

Also, I had to return my first pair and get half a size up, which I never have to do.

I bought these as a gift for xmas. [...] needless to say they did not get wrapped. He loved them so much that he had to have them for the gym. He had just started working out, had a day or two of getting used to and he has been super happy ever since. He is a bigger build 6'2, 235 lbs. They Great support for a larger frame which is what Waves are known for. He has owned quite a few Waves prior to these and has been consistantly happy with these.are not available in Canada which makes them even cooler.

This is my 3rd pair of Wave Creations. I run about 20 - 30 miles per week mostly on paved roads and concrete. The shoe offers a lot of cushion in the heel. They seem to be fairly durable. The shoe felt good right out of the box, but after about 20 miles they felt even better.

Great update to an already good shoe. Re-designed wave plate is softer and absorbs shock better, fit is changed slightly and improved. Maybe fit a little smaller than version 11, but overall a really good shoe for neutral, heavier runners.

These shoes are awesome; 2nd pair and counting (previously had Mizuno Wave creation 11). These shoes are the elite training short and long distance running shoes. Very responsive and they look cool too - as running shoes only not for casual wear.

Great update. Beware that it is significantly harder when you first put them on...noticably stiffer in comparison to the 11. However, hopefully this will pass and maybe last longer than the 11's.

Shoe is great for comfort if you have a normal heel width. I found the heel cup to be a bit narrow, and had problems with it aggravating my plantar fascitis. Cushioning of the shoe overall is good, and the ride is excellent. Truly a neutral+ shoe, and is great for supination.

Excellent shoe for training, but it's too heavy for racing. I weigh 190, have a high instep, wide foot, and wide toe area, and it fits these needs perfectly. Durability is good. Cushioning and support are excellent.
