Mizuno Inspire 8, Stability Shoe?

Background: I run 4 days a week and am training for my 3rd Marathon in April. I've run in each version of the Inspires since they were introduced. Outside of a little issue with the overlay on outside of foot of the Inspire 6, these have been nothing short of great shoes. That being said, I'm not a fan of the 8. Comparing the 7 to the 8, the 8 feels less stable, feels to have less forefoot cushioning, and the arch support isn't nearly as supportive as any of the other versions. The 8 has a more pronounced flex groove in front of the arch which make these shoes a tad more flexible (don't like it). With the changes towards (much) less stability, I think Mizuno is blurring the line between the Wave Rider and the Inspire. Ran an easy-paced 8 miles in the 8 last night and this morning my ankles and the balls of my feel are sore. I've never had these pains from any version of the Inspire before. Hate to say it, but after 8 versions of the Inspire, I think I need to find a new shoe.

Great shoe!

This is my second pair of Mizunos ever, the first being the Elixir 5 which I absolutely loved. After reading reviews and searching various forums, the Wave Inspire series seemed to be a perfect fit for me, offering a little bit more cushioning for longer runs with the right amount of pronation control. Right out of the box they fit my foot like they were made for me, the cushioning is right on point (not too much, not too little) and the transition is amazing. Overall, I'm very impressed and can't wait to see how they perform long term. As for sizing, I opted for the half size larger and found that I probably could have gone with my actual size and been fine.

Love this shoe

I really love this shoe. Over the years, I've tried many different brands, but have never found a shoe that made me a convert. This shoe has done it. From my first run in the shoe, I've been sold. It just fits -- the heel hold perfectly, the toes have just enough room. I've logged well over 100 miles in the shoe now and have yet to find an issue. (My only issue is they discontinued the blue/green Osaka special addition. Great looking shoe!) While no shoe is perfect for everyone, if you're looking for a great stability trainer, this is definitely one to test.

Love these shoes

I am very picky about my shoes. I like some stability but not too much and fit is very important to me. I don't like the feel of the Asics or Brooks and I wore the Adidas Supernova Sequence for a number of years and really liked that. The completely changed it and it was unreconizable to my foot and I didn't like it so I had to try something new. This shoe has been great. Fits perfectly, light but not flimsy, has great stability in the right place for me but not too much. Great! Mizuno: Please do not change this shoe

First pair of Mizuno shoes

First pair of Mizuno shoes, and I'm becoming a fan quick! The only problem I had....I ordered a half size up as suggested, my right shoe was way too big, returned for my "true to size" order, and these oddly enough felt almost small at first. Third run today....about 7 miles...I really like the feel and responsiveness of these shoes, while a little snug at first, they seemed to form to my foot, and were really comfortable to run in.

Good road shoe

I have used these primarily for long runs on roads. The ride is very comfortable -- well cushioned without being too soft, and good balance of flexibility and control. The only negative is that they seemed to wear quickly. The ride was noticeably different in less than 200 miles: a bit firmer, and slightly greater pronation. Also, while not terrible, wear on the outsole is obvious. I'm still running regularly in these, but I don't expect to get a really long life from them

First pair of Mizunos

I love these shoes. Picked them up about a month out from Frankfurt and put approx. 150 km on them before race day. Light, roomy in the toe box, and (at least through 200 km) they appear to be durable. Based on how light they were I expected them to already show some wear (I'm 230+), but none yet. Based on how well these fit, I'm sticking with Mizuno and picking up a pair of their Wave Ascends for the upcoming snowy trail runs.

My first pair of Mizuno shoes

Similar to the Virginia runner my favorite shoe had been Adidas Supernova which is now Sequence. Loved the shoe and bought many pair but Adidas chose to change it to a point it no longer feels right for me. This shoe is very close to the feel and comfort of the older Adidas. Brooks is too firm, Asics isn't quite there in feel. The Mizuno is great, although a bit wider in the toe box, it works for me. Would recommend trying this shoe!

Couldn't be better

In training for a half marathon, I wanted a pair of shoes to alternate with my Nike Structure 15s. I didn't think I could find a shoe that was better, but I might have. The Wave Inspires are both sturdy and flexible, both snug and breathable. Tight in all the right places, room in all the right places. I'm a moderate pronater (~195 lbs), and these are great shoes for me.

My new favorite shoes

These fit like a glove, feel light on the feet, and for me have the perfect level of support and cushioning. I use them for speed work as well as long marathon-training runs.
