I am 5'11", 150 pounds and walk about 20 to 25 miles per week at an aerobic pace. I have a very highly arched foot, with a narrow heel, and I have been suffering from increasing foot pain over the past year, so I invested in two pairs of expensive cushioned shoes- the Ascics Gel Nimbus 15 and these Mizunos. The Mizuno Wave Creation 14 is an excellent shoe for fast paced walking. The ride is firm, responsive and fast. Beware- the shoe is molded under the ankle and around the heel with a stiff material (on the outside of the shoe). For my narrow rear foot and heel, this feature provides excellent fit and an increased sense of support- for me it is a an absolute plus and I love it, but for someone with wider heels, this "fitted" heel cup could become uncomfortable. The shoe's toe box is roomy, but snugs up nicely with a slightly asymetrical lacing design. The shoe accomodates my highly arched, high volume foot very nicely and comfortably. The shoe is light, in part because of the "skeletonized" heel- there is some sacrifice on cushioning because of the skeletonized heel (which you can see when you look at the shoe), but the firm skeleton heel flexes slightly to provide both adequate cushioning in the heel and a firm, responsive ride, which leads to faster turnover. I prefer these shoes over the heavier, plush ride of the gel nimbus 15 (which is also a fine shoe).
In sum, I think the Wave Creation 14 is an excellent shoe, but some people may have to return these shoes because of the "fitted" heel. But the fitted heel cup is a plus for me and I expect it may be a plus for others with similar dimensions to mine.

I had been working out, walking and running in the Wave Runner 16 due to a recommendation at the RRS store near me. Unfortunately, after 2 and a half months, the wave plate gave out in the right shoe. I talked to the manager, and he said they weren't meant for someone my size. I'm 6'4" 260lbs. He let me turn the riders in (I'm a vip, they have the 90 satisfaction guarantee) and had me try out the Creations. Fabulous shoe. Can't recommend RRS or this shoe enough. I'm a forefoot striker, and these have the perfect blend of cushion and response for that, as well as plenty of heel cushion for walking. I did have some fit issues with a hot spot, but alternative lacing fixed that. I got the black red and blue.

Good Running Shoe

I'm 66. Been buying the Creation for a while. Run 5-7 miles daily. Hardly ever race. If you buy this shoe, make sure you up the size, as recommended. When running on trails, stones sometimes get stuck in the heel cushioning -- you need to fish these out soon, or the cushioning will rapidly degrade. Also, not good for hiking -- while hiking (mountains) I slid on some gravel and sprained my ankle -- probably better hiking shoes with ankle support.
Pros: Good cushioning
Hold up fairly well
Cons: Mizuno only makes one width -- medium. Would like a wider fit.
The ends of the shoelaces become brittle with age, making it difficult to restring the shoes after washing.

"First pair of Mizuno's but not my last"

I am 57 years old, run 20 plus miles per week on pavement, and have had two knee surgeries so comfort and support are my top priorities. The Wave Creation 14 covers my needs in comfort and support plus other great features like breathable and light weight. Quality looks to be at a premium with these shoes as well. I bought the black & orange they're a great looking shoe. I am looking forward to my next run with them. I would definitely recommend this shoe.

stiff heel cup

I returned these. While the fit and sizing were good, there is a very stiff plastic frame inside the shoe in the heel cup. Wearing these immediately rubbed my outer, lower ankle, close to the side ankle bone, after 4 miles or so to produce a painful blister. I had the same issue with a pair of Asics. Nike and Brooks shoes do not have this same stiff piece of plastic framing the inside the heel cup and I have not had a similar problem with these brands.

Great trainer, heavy but vry comfortable

I've likely owned 50 pairs of running shoes over the years and am a pretty competitive 5k runner with over 30 years of running experience. This is possibly the heaviest running shoe I have ever owned. That being said they are extremely comfortable.Likely a great trainer, when you put your racing flats after training with these they will feel light as a feather!

great shoe so far

I've run 4 miles 3 separate times in these, I'm 220 lbs 6'4", and so far they are great. Very comfortable. Surprising cushion for as light as they are. They actually feel kind of 'springy' and make me want to run fast. We'll see how they hold up in long runs (training for a marathon).....

More Narrow Toe box than before
1
This is my fourth pair of wave creation shoes. I have had the 11, 12, 13 and now the 14. Sadly I have been using these since late July (about six weeks) and have a recurring problem of numbness in my third toe on the left foot. I love these shoes, they fit great, they are light and cushioning. I have high arches, am 6'2" and weigh 195. I don't think this is a random bad shoe, I have compared them to my previous shoes and the toe box definitely gets more narrow quickly as it goes from the big toe to the little toe and therein lies my problem. They are great for three miles, but anything over four and I am numb. Ran 9 yesterday and they have to go back. I run four days a week, 3-4-3 and then longer on Sat. 5-6 typically but am training for a half right now so that is why the mileage has increased. Need a good replacement, I hate returning these but they are causing discomfort beyond what is acceptable.
