Finally found a favorite

5

I had run in Brooks for almost 10 years when I started training more seriously and wanted to find some lighter shoes. These were recommended to me and I have definitely found a favorite that I will stick with for a long time. They are so light and fit to every part of my feet. I used to have problems when I tied laces too tighly that my feet would sometimes go numb. These I can tie tightly and they feel nice and snug and hug my feet so well, and I have no nerve-pinching/numbness problem. Although many others have been mentioning that these shoes wear quickly, I have actually found the opposite. The Brooks I had always had before I would have to switch out every 350-370 miles because my feet and knees would start to feel the lack of support. These I have worn for nearly 500 miles and my legs still feel great at the end of every run. During marathon training I run 50-70 mile weeks on these shoes. These shoes are definitely not cushiony or soft. They have a solid platform that provides stability and little to no soft, bouncy cradle. That is what I look for in a stability shoe so these are perfect. I already have another pair waiting in the closet!

Disappointed

2

I miss my Inspire 9s. I "upgraded" to these after I was unable to find Inspire 9s in my size online. I was a month into four-month marathon training and knew my Inspires were just about maxed out. I was wary about them--they felt/looked very different, almost like Wave Rider replicas and the Wave Rider has never worked for me. But I really needed the shoes, so I bit the bullet and bought them. First month was okay. I didn't notice any difference, good or bad, even with the lighter weight. Then, early last month, I started noticing my arches were hurting and my fascia would painfully spasm if I bent my foot after a workout. Then I started seeing bruising on the top of my right foot (by my big toe) and now I'm seeing/feeling it on my left foot. This echoes the reviews already here; the toe box is clearly narrower and these shoes have TERRIBLE arch support for those with medium-to-high arches. I've gone back to my over-mileage Inspire 9s, in hopes I can salvage my feet back to normal before the race. I am SO frustrated by these shoes. Ugh. Bring back the 9s!!!

Love the new model

5

I started running in the Wave Inspire 8 and loved them. I alternated them with another brand while training for a marathon - both were solid shoes but I always preferred the Mizuno's. Now that the race was over and the 8's had reached their mileage limit, I needed to upgrade. I went to the store the same day the 10s were put on the shelf. The size is true to previous models - half size up from other shoes for me. Unfortunately due to weather limitations, I've only used them on the treadmill but even in those less than desirable conditions, the shoe still performs perfectly. I love the new weight and lower toe. My toes curve up enough on their own and the Inspire 8 pushed them up a little more than I would have liked. The weather is supposed to warm up enough for me to be able to run outside and I cannot wait to get these out there. I'm a mid-foot striker with over pronation.

Good to go right out of the box!

5

These are my second pair of the Inspire 10. I bought the dark grey ones right when they came out. As others have stated about the tongue being short, this is true. I found the lacing on my first ones to hurt when running. However, I had to buy a new pair because my others had no life left in them so I purchased the red ones. The color is so beautiful and rich. I've never seen a running shoe this color before. Right out of the box I ran a 9 miler the other day and they felt great! Super comfy with great support and cushion. My previous Inspire 10's wore quickly so I"m hoping this won't happen to these. As stated with other reviewers, the tongue is short although with this pair I didn't have a problem and the lacing was comfortable too.

So light!

4

I'm surprised these are rated so low, I like them a lot. My only complaint (and reason for subtracting a star) is the tongue is a little too short so the laces go above them. This only happens on my right shoe for me and since I do anchor lacing the laces don't touch my foot and I've never felt them while running. I recently ran a half marathon PR in these! It seems some people are unhappy with the arch support. I have the custom molded inserts from RRS and do not have any support complaints. I have narrow heels and a wide toe box and I haven't had any issues. The heel is definitely a lower profile than the 9 but once I wore them in a little I think the inner padding on the heel depressed some and they don't feel like they're slipping anymore.

Like Nike Free, but more Cushion

4

I think the people who reviewed this shoe poorly were mostly people who didn't like the changes from the previous model. I need a seamless shoe because of some *beautiful* bunions and I have liked the Nike Free in various models, but needed more cushioning and stability when I upped my miles to train for half marathons this year. I found the Wave Inspire 10 to be comfortable right out of the box and very lightweight for the amount of bounce they have. I was glad to find the grey color online because the white and blue versions I found in my local running store were too much to look at for me! I took them on a 9 mile spin this morning and ordered a second pair to stockpile - an easy decision at $68.

Felt Like Clown Shoes

1

I fell in love with some Mizuno trail running shoes right out of the box, so I wanted to try some road running shoes hoping for a similar love affair. Well me and the Wave Inspire's couldn't be more wrong for each other. I ordered my usual size of 10.5. The trail shoes in this size fit me perfectly. But these shoes felt almost a full size too big in the front of my big toe (but my little toe was right up against the wall of the shoe). I like a roomy toebox area, but this was too much. It was downright sloppy when I ran. And this extra room was affecting my gait b/c I started to feel knee pain about 1/2 mile into my run that didn't go away. I was disappointed b/c the price was right and these shoes were nice and light, but I can't run in a shoe that causes pain.

Hello Toe!

1

I have been running long distances 2-3 times a week for over 15 years. I have worn Mizunos for the last 4 or 5 years, replacing them at reasonable intervals. I bought my first pair of the Inspire 10's in April and by the end of June, my big toe popped out of the top of the shoe. I replaced them July 4th weekend, hesistantly. (I remembered Road Runners' guarantee.) I was back at the end of September with the same issue, got my money back and switched brands. I really want to go back to Mizunos because of the cushioning and otherwise great fit; however, until they fix the toe reinforcment issue on the Inspires, I won't buy another pair. I was REALLY disappointed that the 11's appear to be the same.

First returned pair ever!

1

I am an over ten year runner with twenty half marathons and a couple full under my belt. I love Mizuno and was looking for a new pair to start marathon training. Having just wore the Wave Inspire 9 I was very skeptical of this new design. My past favorite was the Wave Rider 15 and under and now along with Inspire has become a major disappointment. The new Inspire 10 is noisy (literally slapping the pavement). My feet felt the ground and was in pain after one mile. There is no cushion which the old Inspire had. This 'new light weight' model feels to me like a minimalist shoe. The colors are ugly as well. I am returning this pair as we speak. I miss the older models and hope Mizuno goes back or I will move on-

Hate this shoe

2

I bought these because my usual Mizuno Wave Riders are not made anymore. Wanted to give them a try and loved the blue color. I wore these once to run, and the plastic that surrounds the laces rubbed a blister on my left toe next to the little toe. Very sore and uncomfortable. Decided to wait and give it another try, lacing them looser and wearing thicker socks. SO PAINFUL was that plastic piece that I ran back home and changed them to go finish my run. Hate these shoes and sending them back. That plastic piece is on another new pair of Mizuno's I ordered but don't seem to "DIG IN" to my foot like these.

Not the same as the 9

2

I loved my Wave Inspire 9's and was sad when I had to replace them. I ordered the 10...and today I am returning them. At first they seemed pretty similar, but once I tied them it was clear that the upper was somehow different. The "stitching box" around the laces was rubbing roughly on my foot. I re-tied, changed socks, re-tied again... nope. No good. I ran anyway thinking it would just have to soften up. Dumb. Now with multiple blister/raw areas on my foot I am sending these back. Lesson learned is next time I find that 'perfect shoe", I will buy multiple pair before they get "upgraded" and can no longer find them. FYI.. customer service was beyond helpful when I called to explain the problem and suggested other shoes that are comparable. Here's hoping!

Wave Inspire 10

3

I LOVED the Wave Inspire 9. Wanted to love the 10. Super light (not sure how they make it so light), and loved the colors. Wore them on two short runs and around town to break them in, but couldn't ignore the hot spots that appeared on my arch. I wear a wide, but while the there was a lot of forefoot space, the midfoot area seemed cramped. I still think others will love this shoe, but if you have a wide foot, the wide might not be wide enough. I took the insert out and put it over top of the insert in the 9, and it's definitely not as wide. Exchanging them for the Paradox, so crossing my fingers that will fit me better.

Completely different feel from the 9

2

I adore the Wave Inspire 9 and was excited to try the lighter updated version. The 10 definitely feels very light, but aside from that improvement I was very disappointed. It has a completely different feel from the 9, the amount of cushion in the forefoot made me feel out of touch with the ground, and it just did not feel as responsive and glove-like. Runners who have no special affinity for the 9 may be pleased with this shoe, I'm sure it will work for many people. However, if you are looking to replace your 9's with this model you will likely be disappointed. I'm going to buy tons of the 9s and then cry when they are all used up.

Wore out after 150 miles

1

I have been running in Mizuno Wave Inspires for two years. I'd normally get about 350 miles out of them before I would mostly move them out of the rotation. I was really excited about the updates to the 10-- lightweight, great looking shoe. I loved how they felt for the first 100 miles. Then they started rapidly wearing out, but I refused to believe it. A physical trainer finally looked at my shoes when I was having ankle and calf pain and said, "well, your shoes are totally worn out." So, a $100 dollar pair of shoes has turned into $300 thanks to being sent to the physiotherapist. I'm 100% done with Mizuno.

Performance; not an endurance shoe

3

I have been running competitively for about two years now including road races at the 5k, 10k and half marathon distances. I am a 30-something female of average build and have found this shoe to be lightweight and good for short runs (5 miles or less) and for speedwork or treadmill workouts. This Inspire 10 was a disappointment when compared to the Inspire 9 because of significantly less cushioning. I am not able to wear it for runs 6 miles or longer. I am hopeful the Inspire 11 will be more like the 9 model.

Wore out in less than 4 months - WALKING

1

I bought these shoes when they came out. I am fitted for this shoe and buy the new editions as my old ones wear out. However, this pair has a serious wear issue. I haven't actually been able to run in the past few months and so I wear these shoes walking around the neighborhood (in Brooklyn, so I do probably 20-25 miles of walking/week). I expect my shoes to hold up. The upper on this shoe has worn out and has holes in the corners (upper right for the right shoe and upper left for the left shoe). Now I wear these shoes when I row on my rowing machine since I can't really go walking outside with holes in my shoes. Too bad!

Careful... Not at all like the Inspire 9

2

I am a dedicated runner (approx 50-60 mpw) who uses a variety of shoes training. All surfaces. The Wave Inspire 9 was my favorite shoe this past year. After wearing out about nine pair, I looked forward to the improvements of the 10. This is not the same shoe. It is floppy on my foot. You cannot tighten the laces enough to prevent this. Granted, I have a narrow size 10 foot. But the Inspire 9 fit comfortably with a thick sock. I wore the this Inspire 10 on one run yet that was enough to blister my arches and heel. I really wanted to love this shoe. But it just isn't for me. As always, RR Sports made my return as easy as my purchase.

Just Okay.

2

I purchased these b/c Mizuno stopped making my fave, the Elixirs. These are a bit heavier than what I am used to, but I decided to try it. The shoes, although being lightweight, have heavy footsteps. My husband, who can't hear anything, kept commenting on my steps being so loud. These shoes are okay. They are cushier than what I am used to running in, and apparently louder than any other of my shoes, so I will probably just use them for walks or gym trips. I will keep on my search for shoes that compare to the Elixirs. Please bring them back, Mizuno!

Perfect shoe!

5

The Inspire 10s were my first pair of Mizunos and I love them! I am a overpronater and need a support shoe and these are fantastic. They are very lightweight and still provide such a smooth ride and the perfect amount of cushion. I love these for both long runs and speed work. The only con I see is that the Inspires seem to wear out quicker than some of the heavier trainers I have ran in. Overall, awesome shoe and I highly recommend.

Love the product; HATE the cust. serv.

5

I love the product. I had gone through three different pairs of the Wave Inspire 9 and was disappointed that it was being discontinued. However, the Wave Inspire 10s are an excellent replacement. The cushion and stability are great. Also, I have narrow heels, and they fit perfectly. The only thing I'm concerned about is running in the winter. They breathe very well; I can see them letting in the cold Colorado air once the weather changes again.

Not a fan

1

I am a female, logging 30-40 miles a week on the road, with mild pronation. I am not a fan of the redesigned shoe. I LOVED the Inspire 8's & 9's. Sadly, the 10's are nothing like the old shoes. After a 10 mile run, I had terrible problems with the balls of my feet. Aparently in the redesign, they shaved weight from the forefoot of the sole. I have also tried the new Enigma's . . .same issue. Too much weight shaved from the forefoot. Not enough cushioning. Sadly, I have to leave the Mizuno brand and look for other shoes.

Great Shoe

4

I run about 20 to 25 miles per week. My long runs are up to 10 miles. I was worried they wouldn't have enough cushioning for the longer distances but I was wrong. As soon as I put the shoe on it seemed to hug my foot in all the right places. Like a custom insert. Super light weight. My only complaint is they seem to be wearing a little quicker than Brooks did. I think I'll come back to this shoe again.

Bought this shoe in all five colors

5

I am training for a marathon this fall. I was in love with the Mizuno Wave Inspire 8's, and I had a hard time finding a new shoe when my 8's wore out. At first, the 10 felt very different, but I found out that it was lighter but still had the stability. The upper is very breathable, and without the extra stitching and decorations, there are fewer places that the shoe can rub the wrong way. After doing a few long runs in the 10's, I bought four more pairs.

Amazing!

4

Love, love, love, love these shoes! Super duper comfortable. Helped me from twisting my ankle all the time. I used them for running, jogging, casually and everyday life. Only complaint is that they wore really fast. Both feet in the same area - around the toes. Going back for another pair though, so obviously that didn't bother me too much!! Just super comfortable and allows the foot to breath!

Hurts during/after long runs

3

I am a midfoot striker and when running on pavement at around 3 miles every step feels rough and the impact seems to lessen and I can feel the shoe's sole imprinting on my midfoot. There seems to be less cushioning in the midfoot after a while and I can't imagine running longer distances in these shoes. I did run the trails with these shoes and I did not experience the rough impact.

I just ran a Marathn PR in them!

5

I was looking for a lighter shoe with support that I could use for my marathon. These were perfect. They're light weight, offer good pronation control, and are comfortable. I ran a hard course for my marathon and I never had to think about my feet because they so fit so well! I also use them for my faster training runs (which, for the marathon training, were up to 12 miles long) and they were great.

Love this shoe!

5

The Mizuno shoe I was wearing was no longer being made and the Road Runner helper line recommended this shoe. Only had 4 weeks to break in this new pair before running my marathon. No problem at all. I do use an insert which works great with these shoes. These shoes work well with my pronation and my plantar facitiis has improved. I will miss these shoes when no longer made.

bad update

1

I have loved the Inspire series for years, and was SO disappointed in the 10's. They took a good shoe and ruined it. The tongue is too short, so when the laces are tied, there is too much pressure across the top of the foot. They were so uncomfortable, I couldn't think of anything else on my run. I changed socks, and tried to redo the laces, but they wouldn't work no matter what I did. Bad update, Mizuno!

2

Fell in love with the mizuno wave inspire 9 and was anxious to see how they improved it with the 10. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. They feel wider and less supportive. After breaking them in I actually started to develop some IT issues and I am an avid stretcher and weight lifter. The only thing that changed was my new sneakers. Just ordered the 9s again online!

Great distance running shoes

4

Great pair of shoes - comfortable right out of the box. Haven't had any hot spots or discomfort. Don't order a half size up as suggested, these shoes are plenty big. I love Mizunos and needed a new pair for long distance running. These shoes are comfortable and can go the distance for miles on end. Only real complaint is that the laces are quite long, but otherwise, no issues with them.
