I have about 50 miles on these. I'm guessing they are better and some issues from the 17s were addressed. However, I stocked up on 16s and went right into the 18s. I have not had any issues with 18s. They have good cushion for neutral shoes. Having said that, they do have significantly more room in the toe box than the 16s. They do not have the good snug fit the 16s have.

Have had many great trainers and racing flats from Mizuno and was excited to be getting back into a pair after a bad experience with Nike. Mizuno sure does deliver in Wave Runner 18 and I was not disappointed. The sneaker's performance remains consistent from the first mile to your last mile. I could see the Wave Runner 18 being a good marathon day sneaker for both the novice and heavier runners.
These shoes are my fifth pair of Wave Riders. Every single pair is more amazing than the last, and this pair is no different. It is like running on clouds. I use to get shin splints all the time before switching to Mizuno and now I never have a problem. Completely satisfied with these shoes. From comfort to support, street, trail, or treadmill this shoe can handle everything. Whether I run 4 or 9 miles these shoes never fail. I was an asics fan, but Mizuno is my new brand. I highly recommend these to anyone. I just hope they come out with a new color, I have the red ones, and they show little wear and tear with 170+ miles on them. I cannot express how happy I am with them. I have had these for about 5 weeks and I have currently run about 100 miles in this shoe. Mizuno Wave Riders have been my go to shoe for the past few years and in my opinion this is the best version to date. I feel comfortable wearing this shoe for short, fast runs or the long, slow, grinding distances. I highly recommend this shoe for the neutral runner looking for a versatile shoe that won't break the budget. The shoe fits true to size, and feels very light on my feet. Even on my first run, the shoe felt good on my feet. The Wave Rider 18 has a high level of responsiveness, shock absorption, and provides a smooth ride. It is a light feeling shoe while still providing the needed support to log my miles. Mizuno is able to keep the lightweight feel while also providing a shoe that feels supportive and able to sustain the rigors of a runner’s weekly mileage. The shoe feels very durable on your foot, and seems to be constructed well. Also, the shoe is very sharp looking. I normally do not buy running shoes based on looks, but when a shoe looks good, that is a definite bonus. I had the opportunity to try the WaveRider18s for the first time this month. Having been a stability shoe wearer I now realize I can get enough support from a light neutral shoe and still run 2 days in a row. Great for running, but also quite supportive while hiking in Switzerland. Not to mention. All the cobblestone streets. Having used other popular brands and working as a Foot and Ankle surgeon, this shoe will now be on the list of shoes that I recommend. Very satisfied. 5 stars The Wave Rider 18 is a really impressive shoe. It has all of Mizuno's current top tech - U4ic to cut 30% of the weight over the old AP+ foam; Wave Technology to really transfer energy through the stride so you get a lively, energizing run; Dynamotion Fit to keep the shoe fitting perfectly throughout your entire strike and stride. Not too heavy, not overbuilt or under-built - a good balance for a wide range of runners. Also worth noting, I forefoot strike, and these were totally fine for that (many traditional looking shoes don't work well with forefoot striking). I'm used to more minimalist shoes, so I found it to be a bit firmer than I would prefer, but not problematically so. Overall, I would feel comfortable recommending this to other runners. One note on fit - I wear a 10 in literally every other brand, but wear 9.5s in most Mizunos, including the Rider. Definitely try a half size smaller if you aren't used to Mizuno sizing. I have been a devoted Mizuno shoe runner for a while and have been running with the WaveRider17. I didn't think that there was a shoe out there for me that was better than the 17's...until I ran with the 18's. The WaveRider18 is hand down the best running show I've ever worn. I can't tell you the technical details as to why I love it, but my feet and knees feel great after a run. If you are a neutral runner, I highly recommend the WaveRider18 Pros Cons Best Uses I've been running in these for years and love them. If you use an orthotic, like me, you may need to get them a half size larger and a double width for a proper fit.

This is the second time I have run in Wave Rider running shoes. I love this edition of the shoe. It is very similar if not better to the 16 edition. I did not try the 17 edition. This shoe has great heel to toe transition and feels resposive on road surfaces, tracks, and treadmills. I feel fast in these shoes. I have narrow feet, so I like that the toe box is narrow and my heel stays firmly in place. Many of the shoes I have tried in the last few years have to wide of a toe box and I would have a lot of heel slippage. The cushion in the shoe is also great. I have not had any injuries so far in these shoes. I am 5'6" and 130lbs. I run about 10-15 miles a week. My favorite distance to train for is 5k but I do run 10k, 10mile and half maratons on occasion. I try to run below 7 minute miles. I highly recommend this shoe.
I like these shoes. They are light, fast and they have good, not too soft cushioning. The heel stays in place, and there is enough room for toes. Very light, very stable, been very happy with Wave Creation - these are even lighter and quite terrain-stable. Luv'em already When I originally tried these shoes on I thought they felt clunky but literally after 5 minutes they became more comfortable and after several runs they've even become more comfortable. Fantastic shoe. No cons other than initial feeling. This shoe on top of the comfort fits my foot like a glove. After 10 years of running and dabbling with other footwear brands, I always find myself returning to Mizuno due to the fit and comfort. Truth be told, I was ready to defect after the "less than stellar" fit and feel of the Wave Rider 17, but the 18 pulled me back in. Love it! Loving these shoes. So comfortable. May order another pair. Pros

Best Uses I've been alternating two pairs of these for about 5 months now and I really like them. They have the best combination of fit, cushioning and weight I've found in any of the current cushioned shoes that I've tried. The thing I like best about them is that the cushioning is substantial but firm. I don't feel like my heel is hitting the pavement, which is why I stopped running in the Asics cushioned shoes - they were just too soft. I use them primarily for training but race in them also as they feel very light. If the degree of cushioning matters to you, check these out.
I tried several Running Shoe in the past, and my first Mizuno Running shoe is the Wave Rider 18. I felt a great difference from the first time I wear it, very comfortable, and excellent shock attenuation, if you are a long distance runner and you need a show with more support and shock attenuation for a more comfortable run this shoe is for you. I love my brooks shoes but the Mizuno wave rider 18 (blue/white/orange) are my favorite running shoes. They are my go to shoes for a long run in particular. comfy supportive and they look fabulous. Highly recommend them. Great shoe overall, very easy to get used to...... I am running in a race and went to get fitted. Had never heard of Mizuno but decided to try them on. Wow! what a great fitting shoe. The Wave Rider 18 is better than my previous shoe and very comfortable. Just had a knee replacement and the shoes so much shock support. It is amazing how much support they offer. I have two high school freshmen sons who love these shoes (Wave Rider 18's). They have had about 6 pairs of these in the past few years (Earlier models also). They run XC and track and are excellent runners. They weigh about 108 pounds. Their coach recommended these shoes. However, we are constantly having problems with the soles coming loose whereupon I have to glue them back on. And, after 100 to 125 miles of use, this latest pair of 18's are beginning to show some wear that one should not see until about 250 to 300 miles. Maybe it is the way the boys run. It seems no one else on the website said anything about these problems. I would recommend them as my boys love them, but would tell them about the soles coming loose and the wear pattern problem. Again, maybe it is due to the way my boys run. I still gave the shoes 4 stars as my boys love them. Pros Cons Best Uses I'm returning these shoes because the toe-box is small on the inside of the foot, such that my big toes rub the shoe material. Thought I'd share in case others were trying this brand for the first time too.
Mizuno shoes is just something else. Mostly for street running they are ideal I had a couple pairs of Wave Rider 17's, and I have a few different brands of shoes that I can run in, so I have plenty of perspective to draw from. The 17's did the trick, but there were definitely some things about them that could have been improved upon. Mizuno did just that. I have been wearing the 18's for about 3 months now, and they are better in all the areas that I thought needed some work. The upper fits more snug, it is much more streamlined, it fits, and just looks better. I have a low-volume foot (skin and bones), and the upper on the 18 is fantastic. I had some issues with the sole, the lugs weren't deep enough and the tread pattern just didn't make sense for a fast, neutral, shoe, that I take on the trails as much as I run on pavement. Mizuno took care of that on the 18 as well. The whole package is a big improvement, and in my opinion there isn't much more they need to change on them. Bravo guys, you weren't afraid to go back to the drawing board and push the envelope a bit. Nice work! These shoes are extremely comfortable. I had no issues with break-in, no blisters. I did a half in them last weekend after only ~30mi, it was the 4th time I wore them. Switched over from the Skechers Go Run Ride 3 to these for long runs, and its a nice change (still love my go run 2's for speed work tho...) WR18 is a great shoe added to the arsenal. I bought this about 2-3 weeks ago and it was really comfortable right when i slipped on the shoes. I would recommend these shoes to anyone that wants good running shoes. The only thing that i would knock it for is that i wish they have better insoles because when i run the shoes feel really flat and it hurts me a little bit but it's something that i can fix with some dr. schols I had run half marathons in the Wave Rider 17 and received the Wave Rider 18 as part of a sponsored post. Without hesitation, I slipped them on and went straight to running. After 1-2 quick runs, I was confident enough in them to throw them on for a half marathon and they didn't disappoint. They felt better than the 17s with a little more cushion, but still had the light-neutral feel and the support in the right places. If you liked the 17s, you'll LOVE the 18s.
