Great minimal shoes

I went from "regular running shoes" to Innov-8 195's (3mm drop but very minimalist, better for off road) to Kinvara4's (felt like clocks in comparison) to the Bare Access 2. For reference, I run 3-6 miles several times a week on road and sidewalk. And Im about 185 lbs. The Bare Access give me the cushion i need to train on the pavement, but the zero drop and very light weight to continue in my bare foot "type" evolution. I definitely noticed more soreness in the calves, even coming from a 3mm drop. So make sure you ease into the zero drop shoe if you havent been training in one already. Breath-ability is very nice, mesh fits top of foot well. Sole holds up great, and the shoe is still relatively light, even with a decent pad. The only thing I may change is try a size smaller next time, I wore 9.5 Innov-8's (but they fit small).. went 9.0 here and they have to be sinched down fairly tight to keep the area around my ankle from being too loose. Im afraid 8.5 will fit well at the ankle but be too tight in the rest of the shoe because these feel really nice when I dont over or under tighten the laces... All around a very nice feeling shoes for daily road minimalist training.

Nice Transition sneaker

I'm 73 inches (6'1", 1.8 meters) and 215 pounds (98 kg). My jogging pace is a 10 minute mile. I have medium arches and no over or under pronation. I recently developed Plantar Fascitis after suffering last year with Achilles Tendonitis. I decided to swith to minimalist footwear to try to strengthen my legs / feet & alter my stride - trying to land on balls of my feet and midfoot more. After 2 weeks off to rest plantar, I began with these and the Road Glove 2. It's been 3 weeks and these are great. I've worn with socks and without and had no problems. They seem to have just the right arch support - I have medium arches. There is plenty of room for the toes to spread out, maybe even a little too much, but I've had no problems and have been successfully working towards my goals.

Great update to a nice shoe

I put about 250 miles on the original Bare Access shoes and I loved them, so I was a bit worried about this pretty big redesign. However, they feel just as nice as the originals and look much better. Although they added a little weight to this model due to the full length rubber at the bottom, it's not noticeable to me. The only thing I don't like is that the stack height seems a bit higher than the previous model, so there's less road feel. Only reason why I didn't rate 5 stars. Also, I have pretty high arches, so I have arch inserts that I added to these shoes and also the previous model to make them comfortable on longer runs.

Nice shoe

Love the Merrell Bare Access 2s. They are light and flexible, not quite barefoot but close enough. The toe box is wide and comfortable. The shoes seem to hold up well for being so light. Blue color is a nice update from previous versions.

Not sized like other Merrell Shoes

I bought this shoe to try along with a pair Merrell Road Gloves. Unfortunately the fit of this shoe is completely wrong. It is much to tight on the sides of my feet starting just in front of my arch and continuing until just before the toe box portion. Then the shoe widens out into a toe box that is way to large. The Merrell Road Gloves were the exact same size and fit me perfect. I will stick with the Road Glove shoe in the future. I'm not sure what Merrell was going for in this shoe, but the pair I got fit really poorly. My only regret is I put them in the spare room and forgot about them so I missed my chance to return them to road runner for a refund.
