i just bought 2 pair again of new balance 998. i am 55 years old and in my 40th year of running and suffer from achilles tendon injuries, like most multi year runners. the soft wide heel counter of the NB 998 is perfect for me. i put some neoprene inserts in and my feet like they did in my 20's! i h

Wed, October 21, 2009:
The shoe was much too tight, especially in the instep. Not a true "D" width. The shoe was very stiff and didn't have very much cushioning. Maybe I just got a pair that slipped through the QC inspectors.
