I love these shoes so much, the last time I needed a pair I got scared NB would soon end the product line - so I bought 3 pairs. I alternate 2 pairs and still have 1 pair "in the bank." I get them a half-size too large so I can insert a rather substantial orthotic pad for my high arches. The fit is perfect, they breathe very well (even with the suede), excellent cushioning for the asphalt greenways I prefer, and the gray suede just looks great (IMHO). For the price, these are a FANTASTIC VALUE! If I ever run out of these shoes, it will be a sad day indeed. And now a public service message for all the people who make negative comments: It's NOT design flaw in the shoe if it doesn't fit YOUR foot and YOUR running style. 6' 1" / 220 - 18 miles a week with underpronation in left foot. Tried Nike Vomero, incredbily comfortable but caused intense tendon pain and calf strain from added cushion shoe bed. RoadRunner gladly exchanged shoes (and great customer service!). Went back to NB 992s and all pain went away! Definitely a no brainer for me.

Not as good as the predecessor models, it is too stiff and clunky, lacks the natural feel and comfort of early 990-series shoes.Another old favorite updated until it has lost its bearings, it would seem.

This shoe isn't for everyone, but give NB credit. The 992 is still made in the USA and NB goes 2-3 years between updates. No other brand can make this claim. The 992 will be available until about Sept 2008.

PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA. AND TO WEAR THEM MAKES YOU KNOW WHY. CLEARLY THE BEST SHOE IN THE NEW BALANCE FAMILY.

Don't listen to the negative reviews given by jealous people who want the shoe all to themselves. The NEW BALANCE 992's are the best most comfortable shoes ever. THEY RULE!

This model several years ago was the best. The last two series changes have gone down, down in term of comfort. They never break in, and are like wearing boards. such a shame the 990 was outstanding. When will they ever learn, that change does not always mean better.

A brick of a shoe that destroyed the storied history of the 900 series. I'd highly recommend the 1061 for those disappointed in the 992 brick. The 992 is just awful. Read the comments on the 1061!

These shoes hurt my knees and the cushion that I thought I was buying is not there. They still feel very stiff after a month and a half. Very disappointed because I have to keep looking.

Worst NB ever & I love NB. First NB I had to "break in." Unyielding, stiff is an understatement. 30+ miles a week, medium build, all pavement kills me with these - it feels like there is no cushion at all.

Tue, January 16,2007:
I found this shoe to be stiff and unyielding. Being a heavy runner, I wanted to find more cushioned and durable shoe than the classic NB763, which has been my favorite shoe. But the lack of flexibility in the 992 made running more work and less fun. The search continues...

It took me a couple of weeks to get used to compositional structure of this shoe. Most importantly, since breaking-in the shoe, it has been nothing but pure comfort. Hands down the best running shoe I have ever used. I've been running for many years trying to find the perfect shoe (e.g. Nike, Asics....) and I have finally reached that point. Strongly recommend this shoe to any serious runner/walker.

Very Comfortable! Slightly heavy but well cushioned. Great for a larger runner.
