great shoes. Super extraordinary support, good cushioning, good toebox size. more better than 1222, good for narrow feet. Lateral support of this shoe is incredible. I use this shoe on elaptical machine and stationary cycle, because of great lateral support.

I have now had this shoe for 6 months and it gets better and better. Comfortable, breathable and I have had no foot or leg pain. I pronate heavily and this shoe works great. I did go 1/2 size up and that was the right call.

I am a flat footed treadmill runner who puts about 10-12 miles per week. These shoes have been a great combination of support and cushion, without being to heavy.

Better stability than 851, 852, 854 or 855 (had all). However, some of the earlier models (851 especially) seem to have better shock absorption. Sizing changed a little also - needed to go one half size DOWN from what I wear in 851. Very good but not perfect, uppers are quite a bit more supportive than 851, and wore very well but soles a little hard (traction not spectacular). Soles also wore out pretty quickly. Had hard time deciding between getting 857 again versus going back to 851. For me a perfect shoe would use the uppers from these with the soles / shock absorption of 851... (In the end got more 857's). If you've not tried the 851, Road Runner has it in the "classics" section - it's a great shoe, worth a try if you've not run them before.

I am currently a 12 year old runner living on Yokota Airforse base japan. i bought these shoes hopping to improve my 2.3 mile time on a trail type course. they helped me move forward. About to Cross Country meets later i had dropped 3 minutes and was very happy. these shoes are very comfortable and feel like you are floating on air.

This is the first shoe I have ever worn in a narrow width. I realized that the last few pairs of shoes I wore that as they were broken in more and more I would tigthen them enough that the eyelets would eventually be touching and I still needed them to tighten a little more; the 857 cured that problem while giving a good stable feel. I have worn the 857 in events from a 1/2 mara up to a 100 miler with river crossings included. If you might need a little narrower shoe with a stable foundation I would recomend the 857

I am on my third pair and these shoes are great for anything from a 5K to a full marathon. RR is very right about going up a half size too.

This is great shoe! I run a combination of fire roads and trails, and this shoe provides a nice balance of stability and comfort without feeling like your wearing an orthopedic boot! I will be ordering my second pair soon/1

Not sure if I would call this shoe " soft " like the first poster. certainly a softer feel than the 856 . ( never was a fan of that hard plastic " roll bar " in the prev. 85x series . Not sure why this shoe is listed for medium build runners as it is a quit bit more supportive than the 767 which has the same designation. I think this is a good shoe for larger runners who need moderate support or medium build runners who need a shoe bordering the motion control category.nice deep broad toe box ( I;m in 2E because I usually take 2E but I probably could have gotten away with a standard D width ).

This is a great shoe to run in, nice and soft, the only thing missing is the N-lock that helps secure the arch. All in all a very good shoe!
