When I read these reviews I was surprised at the mixed reactions. The first time I ran in these I thought they were fine. The next day I tried my new 1220s and wow! What a difference! It's not that the 1222s are bad, it's just that the 1220s are so much more comfortable for me. They feel better cushioned than the 1222s

Great shoe for me. I have fairly high arches and I'm about 6ft and 180. I never had any pain or injuries running with this shoe. I really like the high heel and the roomy toebox. I don't like a tight fit as my feet are narrow in the heel and wide in the forefoot. NB can you hear us? Don't throw away this line!

I usually run 3 days a week 4 to 5 miles a day. I have run in the 1220 series shoes for the past 7 to 8 years. The original 1220 and the 1221 have never given me a problem. The 1222 seems to have a much stiffer heel and created pain in both heels that lasted a couple of weeks. I returned the shoes and ordered a pair of 1220's to replace them.

I use them for running/jogging only twice a week on asphalt (the rest of the time I run trails with a pair of NB 907), the cushioning is acceptable. Toebox is big and comfy , my right insole didnt fit well since was badly fitted at the factory so I had to cut a small piece (it was irritating my heel).I like the shoe Overall even with that small gripe it is a good shoe

I've had a togh time adjusting throug the deletions and creations of 1200 series shoes. NB seeme to have he only show wide enough and comfortable enough for me to be able to run aggressively. I'm 5'7" and 220 lbs. I run 5-10 miles a day, at least 5 days a week. This NB 1222 is by far the best running shoe I have ever put my feet in ad run better now at age 39 than ever beore. Now they are endangered again? Ill quit rning before I go through another 2-3 years and hundreds of dollars tryig to fin the right shoe. NB 1222 is it for me.

I've been running in the 1200 seriers since the 1220 first came out. It took me a couple years to find a decent shoe. I'm a heavy weight running (and dropping). The 1220 would last me only 3 - 4 months of 3 a week running... so I was going thru approx 4 pair a year. However they were a good shoe. When the 1221 came out, I was able to approx 9 months before they lost their support. The 1222... they have dropped/lowered the arch and I can no longer wear them. I even went as far as buying arch pads to bump up the arch... doesn't feel right. So now I have to start all over again trying to find me another pair of running shoes. There are no more 1221 in my size to be found anywhere on this planet... A.Ford

I have worn the 1220 series for the last 3 years. The 1222 is the best yet. It has gotten me through 20 marathons in that time with no injury at 190 lbs.

I've used the 1200 line since the start. The 1222 reminds me a little of the original 1200: a nice shoe when it's working. They don't feel especially smooth but I've had no problems until my pair developed some sort of left forefoot bubble all of a sudden. (Compare to the 1221, which had a nice ride but caused me all sorts of Achilles problems.) I'll try one more pair of 1222's, if they last better I'd raise to 5 stars.

Six pair of 1200's and 1221'3, the last pair of 21's went 6 marathons in '06. and then the new 1222's arrived! It took two weeks to recover from the first 8 mile run. The fit is certainly not like the previous models. They are shaped very differently in the forefoot. As a big, slow, 50 state club, marathoner I know what works for me. I went back to the 1221's and haven't had any further problems. Only VIP members should buy these shoes and make sure you don't throw away the box, you're going to need it!

Mon, March 12,2007:
Fit is excellent as is shock absorbing. My problem is mainly about the height of the arch support, it gave me significant pain in one of my feet even though normally a shoe with normal to low arch support works perfectly for me.

Much better than the New Balance 1221. Great at absorbing shock and helps in making running almost effortless.

I bought this shoe for the cushioning and stability, but was not very impressed. I feel there are better choices availabe for the heavier runner.

Wed, October 11,2006:
Overall an excellent shoe for the larger runner (I am 6'3", 215 lbs). I have about 200 miles on my 1222s so far and have had no pains or issues. More durable than the old 1220, though the heel does wear a bit fast. Not quite as comfortable as Asics Gel Kayanos or Saucony Grid Hurricane 8s, but very stable. I have all 3 shoes and cycle through them. I find the 1222s excellent for short to medium distances but anything over about 12-15 miles and the hardness of the shoe makes my foot get a little sore. I will buy another pair when these wear out as finding shoes in 14-2E that don't give me knee pains is no simple thing and these shoes have been good to me.

Great combination of stability and cushioning. I have had the least knee and back pain I've ever had with this shoe. The only draw back I can see is that the heel wears a bit quickly.
