Comments about Mens New Balance 1061 Running Shoe:

The shoe is for the BIG DAWGS! I'm 5'8 165 lbs. The fit on this shoe is big and sloppy. I ordered a half size smaller, but it feels "chunky". I have a wide foot and the toe box is still really loose. The cushioning is good...the Vomero is better. Unless your a big guy, I would look for a different shoe.

Comments about Mens New Balance 1061 Running Shoe:

In 4 months I have run 1 marathon and put 500 miles on these shoes, I love them and am just ordering another pair. These shoes still have great tread depth and the tops look new, there shape is changing a little. I am sorry to see they are being discontinued. I am 6'2" 180lbs neutral with a medium arch, the EE size is perfect for me. The last pair of shoes that I liked this much and that lasted much longer were the NB 991's another discontinued great.....

VOILA!!! My chronic Achilles pain is down about 75%!!!! THESE SHOES IS DA BOMB!!!! Buy 'em !!!! P.S. I don't have anything to do with NB or the shoe industry. I'm just a gov't slug who runs.

I am 36, 77kg, size 46 feet, low arches and 183cm. I spent a year running painfully in Asics Kayano 13s and then GT2120s - blisters on my arches ans sore knees. I am now running 40 miles per week in these shoes with Green Superfeet insoles. I can put in 8 - 10 miles a day - I now have 220 miles up on my first pair - I bought a second pair to ensure that 2008 is safe until the middle of the spring!

Comments about Mens New Balance 1061 Running Shoe:

I recently bought a pair of NB 1060s at the New Balance Salt Lake store because they were "last years model, but still the "same" and $32 off. Turns out that a lace loop pulled out after 2 days, and since the 1060s were then unavailable, they agreed to replace them for the 1061s. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! The 1060s tore up my Achilles and had a rough and scratchy sock-liner. The 1061s are MORE cushy, feel GREAT on my injured Achilles, and the sock-liner is a delight (I run barefoot). These are better than my beloved old 'Boks, and are the best in terms of fit that I've ever owned. BUY THEM NOW!!!

Comments about Mens New Balance 1061 Running Shoe:

I have been using these for my long distance 12+ mile runs as I train for Rock n Roll. Out of the box, the heel of the insole felt a bit uncomfortable, but a set of blue Superfeet fixed that. They have been holding up quite well over my longer distance runs, and the N-LOCK system hasn't caused any chafing as I've found the Arch Lock on Saucony's Triumph 4 to do when I hit the higher miles. This is definetly not a Porsche, but it gets the job done for a 190lb runner like myself.

These are really nice shoes. I used to run in Asics Nimbus, but after the fiasco of Nimbus VIII, I've been searching. I rotate these with Saucony Triumph IV. I love the wide toe box - very comfortable when climbing hills, which there are a lot of in my area. The negatives - a tiny bit uncomfortable on side of ball of foot. The other negative - don't look down! They are funny, boxy looking shoes that look like mid '80's cross trainers...but they feel and run great!

If you need alot of cushioning this is a great shoe.5'11" 170lb 20 miles per week. Plenty of cushioning and support. I rotate this with NB 755 which is lighter. I have been wearing Nike a very long time. This beats the 360 in fit, cushioning, quality and durability. The inserts are high quality, but I replaced with inserts and cush is great.

I am 5'4 and weigh 150lbs. I have run about 120 Miles in these (20-25 Per Week) and they have great fit/breathability/cushioning. Right out of the box they felt good on a six mile run and for people with flinstone feet (short & fat) like me the wide toe box and selection of wide sizes is great. My only complaint is it may be to much cushion because the balls of my feet get a little numb on longer runs and it feels like it lacks lateral responsiveness because the midsole is too soft, but thats not a big issue when your just running straight.

I started out running in New Balance but after many disapointments switched to Brooks and then to Mizuno. Well, Mizuno Wave Creation 7 were supposed to be their ultimate cushioning shoe for neutral runners but was as hard as a brick so when I heard that New Balance was up to something I thought I would at least get to a store to check them out. I am so glad I did. This is by far the best shoe that I have owned in 6 years of running averaging about 25 mpw. When the price goes down I will definitely stock up on these babies. My advise, get them while their hot! Now if we can just get NB to continue to make them just as they are.

This shoe is not the same as a 1060. I am a full length orthotic wearer, and the 1060 is the only shoe that I have found that works for me. The 1061 feels as though it has an anti-pronation bias in it and acts more like a stability shoe with my orthotics. Overall it is a wonderful shoe, and I should have rated it higher, but it does not fit my needs for a totally neutral cushion shoe for orthotics.

Great fitting shoe! I have a slightly wide toe-box and the 1061's 2E width is spot-on, unlike Asics narrow 2E width. After running in Asics for the past two years the 1061 has a blockier feel to it that does not take too long to get used to. The shoe is well cushioned(although not as cushioned as the Asics Nimbus 9)and has a very neutral feel to it. Highly recommended!

Good shoe, but returned and now running with Brooks Glycerin 5. Cushioning too soft in heel for my shoe size / weight - 13/230. After one run on treadmill the cushoning seemed to form an impression around foot - maybe this is a sign it will break down quickly, but according to NB website this shoe uses their best midsole material from durability standpoint.

This is probable the best NB cushioned shoe ever. A rare combination of protection and performance, unlike the usual NB shoe where you sit too high off the ground. This may become a instant classic!!!
