I have very wide and flat feet and bunions. This is the best shoe I have had. It has improved my running and I would recommend this shoe to anyone who has feet like me!

Comments about Womens New Balance 859 Running Shoe:

Excellent combination of stability and cushioning. The broad base provides a lot of stability, and also makes it a good choice for those with bunions. While I still have to snip a few overlays and top fabric, it's about the most generous in the toebox while also (in D width) being pretty nicely snug about the heel. Finally, a thanks to Roadrunner Sports. The staff who assisted me were very generous with their time. While the shoe try that they recommended and I tried (the 1124) didn't work at all (too many impinging overlays and inadequate support and stability), this second recommendation has worked about as well as any shoe will with all my foot issues. I appreciate their time and helpfulness very much.

Comments about Womens New Balance 859 Running Shoe:

Post-script to my May 10 review: Unfortunately, with more runs, major problems have emerged. The shoe is still a great combination of stability and cushioning--it deserves very high marks for that. Unfortunately, however, that's outweighted by several major problems. First, the N-lock system is rigid, w/out any give, which causes major irritation on longer runs (especially so if you have bunions). Second, the very hard and rigid plastic heel cup digs into the foot, adding yet more irritation. Finally, because the midfoot and toebox are shallow, it puts pressure on the tongue. That pressure causes the tongue, which, alreadly is on the short side, to eventually slides all the way down the foot. I really had high hopes for this shoe and wanted to like it. Unfortunately, though, these problems outweigh its other great features.

I have always used the 850 series of running shoes and I hate this one! It doesn't hug my foot, it crushes the top and produced sores no matter how it was laced. I'm sending them back...
