Have also made the change from 769 to 1225 and don't regret it at all. 1225 is a great shoes especially as I wear orthotics. The 4E width has allowed my toes to grip properly and now my heel doesn't chew out the back of the shoe. I ordered them exact size, not one size up as they fit fine. Interesting to note that Footlocker says to order exact size so like another reviewer I am also not sure why Roadrunner says to order the next size up.
Am going to buy more of this shoe.

i give these shoes 5 stars but the suggestion to get them one full size up gets 3 stars. i dont know why this is suggested because my shoes are 1 size up and thats exactly how they feel! to much space for me and cant imagine why this shoe needs it. i would've returned them but i am currently deployed in Iraq and its more of a hassle just trying to do that so i'm just dealing with them. i know after running for awhile your feet swell but i cant imagine a full size up. well to each his one and in closing again great shoes i just wish they fit properly.

great support and cushioning for clydesdales. I have a normal arch and could feel the support from the first run. I have had the shoes for 4 months and run 15-20 miles a week. great durability.

This is the MOST comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I am an overpronator and heavier runner so need the extra stablilty. I am just ticked that I missed the VIP sale when it was on sale for $89.99!!!! This shoe is worth every penny, my feet can feel the soft cushioning on every run. I am training for the Boston marathon so need a shoe that can take the mileage and still provide the comfort I need! A+++++

235 LBS/ 6'2"...LOW ARCH/ STANDARD RUNNER/14 MILES-WEEK...I love this shoe, very stable, light, fits like a glove. Tried many others in the past and nothing comes close. Well worth the investment... Had problems with asics being too stiff causing mild shin aches, then tried a Brooks shoe that was causing leg-foot pain after 3-4 miles. I opened the 1225's and ran 6 miles out of the box! (for me that's far)

This shoe is incredible!!
I've been running in them for almost a year and I have never been able to get that type of mileage from other brands.
I've been running competively since 1978 and wore Nikes uptill a year ago as I was upset with their quality and durability. This one however won me over. I will definitely purchase this shoe again!!!

5 months later they still are PERFECT!! I recently tried a pair of Asics Kayano 15 and really liked them. Then after several months of running, something was just missing. I switched back to the 1225 and there is no comparison. I really like this shoe. Its soooo comfortable

So far so good with these shoes. I started running about 6 months ago and these shoes along with superfeet (green) insoles have been a great combo for me. I needed a good stability shoe and with good amount of cushion which the 1225's have provided me. Highly recommend these shoes!

New Balance is on the every other upgrade is great or terrible. The 1225 is a great shoe. Lightweight yet durable I've been very happy with the shoe. We'll have to see if they can break their bad habits when the 1226 comes out...but I doubt it.

The 1225 works great for me. If you are training, get a foot scan to determine the right shoe for your foot & sport.

Its truly amazing how different people can have a different reaction to the same shoe. After reading dozens of reviews and getting some education on the fundamental aspects of running shoes, I have come to the conclusion that the only way to tell if something is going to work for you is to try on, and run in, every pair you can get your hands on until you find one thats comfortable for YOU. In the last two weeks I have tried: Nike Vomero 4, Asics Nimbus 11, Saucony Hurricane 11, and others. Each fit somewhat differently, and all of them had some point of irritation at different places on my feet. You can't know how its going to feel after 10 miles, just by trying them on in the store. But you CAN ELIMINATE candidates based on subtle differences in fit. Also realize that any review that does not tell you the weight of the reviewer, or to a lesser extent, how many miles they run at a time, is not going to be a reliable source of information. A 150 lb person is not going to get the same r

I'm 5'8" and weigh 215 lbs. I haven't liked this model since the 1220, so I was a little apprehensive. After trying them on, they didn't feel as well cushioned as my previous Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4 or Nike Air Equalon 2. After a short 2 mile run (after a three month running layoff), I absolutely love this shoe. It is relatively lightweight and provides excellent cushioning. I am prone to shin splints after a period of inactivity, but that was not an issue with this shoe. Highly recommended!

I had been wearing 769 since they were
cheaper and also stability. In a weak moment, I tried the 1225 and will not go back. Definitely worth the extra $20 per shoe for comfort and fit.

I tried these shoes on at my local RRS store, and was honestly dissapointed. I narrowed down my purchase to either these or the Brooks trance 9, and the Brooks trance was by far the better shoe. The New balance 1225 fit well, and was lightweight, but just lacked cushioning;especially in the forefoot. This update is definitely a big improvement for New Balance but the build quality was still inferior, especially for the price.

I am in the military and was recently diagnosed with severe shin splints. I have never worn New Balance shoes. I have always worn Nike or Asics. These NB 1225's were on a list of suggested shoes my physical therapist gave me that he got from this site. I have a high arch and overpronate a bit and apparently have been buying the wrong type running shoe all my life. I noticed the difference in these shoes as soon as I put them on. The comfort level is outstanding. These are much lighter than any of my Nike shoes. They seem to be well constructed and I like all of the reflectivity built into the shoe, very visible at night. I have only had these great shoes for a week but can already feel the difference in my knees and shins. I have had no pain whatsoever while running. I run on a treadmill, pavement and a soft surface track and these are great on all. Size is compareable to Nike shoes, the site said to buy one full size up, which is the same size as my Nike shoes, they are a great fit. G

Decided to give NB a try again after moving to lighter training shoes from Mizuno and Asics. Gotta give NB credit. They took enough weight out of this shoe to a smooth trainer without the historic bulk. For a guy with narrow feet like me this is nice discovery. Third run this AM and like them more and more. Keep working on the weight please NB.

The best since the 1220. Great cushion, a very smooth ride that is well balanced. The new last has more room at the end of the toe box than previous versions and is a bit wider than the 769. Less weight and better cushion with a smoother ride than the kayanos.

What's up with New Balance?? Suddenly everyone has narrow feet so a "medium" or "D" is like a "B+" or something. The 1225 is now like the 1063; both are way too narrow, much like the Brooks. It's really too bad because the new 1225 looks great, seems to have a lot of functional cushioning in the right spots, and the weight is perfect unlike the 1224 which was (is) a disaster. The 1225 could have been a excellent upgrade to the 1223 (great shoe) if NB had not messed with the width!! Been a dedicated NB fan for years, but now switching to Asics Nimbus 11. BTW, pick & choose Asics carefully because even the great Kayano 15 has gone the narrow route. If you're listening New Balance & Asics, stop playing with the widths!!

First run in these today, and my they were well cushioned during the run. Im 6'1 245lbs and must say I was impressed. Very smooth heel to toe transition, cushioning is awesome partially due to NB insoles that I placed in them. So far no complaints
